Some advice for people having trouble with[sp]Midir,[/sp]in spoiler tags for folk who don't want any hints: [sp]If possible, use range. This is especially handy if you had an ally helping you out. Midir is still a challenge, seeing as he's so big and has a lot of charges and ranged attacks. But keeping out of range of his swipe combos, tail whip and downward fire blast attacks make the fight a lot less frustrating. Also makes battling the camera easier as you won't constantly have your view dancing around while you try to avoid his crazy huge attacks. Personally, I recommend a magic build slotted with Pestilent Mercury and a high cast rate. His hitbox is huge so the Mercury can hit him from quite some distance, and if you're bombarding him with spells all the while, his health drops pretty damn fast. I used a Hex build against him, because despite his dark-based attacks, he doesn't seem to have a huge level of defense against dark damage. Just be careful using the Dark Clutch Ring, Dusk Crown or the Blindfold Mask: His late-stage dark beam barrage attack can 1-hit you if you reduce your own dark defense too much. This happened to me on my second-last attempt: I was wearing the Blindfold Mask and got him down to a few hits from death, only to get clipped by the beam and die in a single shot.[/sp] Hope that helps somebody out!
Yeah I did [sp]midir as a 40/40 pyro, and as you can guess he doesn't take much damage from the strongest pyro spells, even when hit in the head, so I went with pestilent mercury too. You still have to learn to dodge his moves which remove more than half your hp and to find the right moment to cast but it certainly made the fight easier and less of a slog trying to get through all that pool of hp he has[/sp]
The [sp]Repeating Crossbow[/sp] is my new favorite pvp weapon. It's so much fun to use and it's really good at pressuring people. It even does pretty respectable damage if you get someone with every hit.
Finally got [sp]Midir[/sp], and in the most boring way possible: me and another dude spent twenty minutes or something using the NPC to tap the boss every now and then till it was dead. It was however worth it as the next encounter, [sp]Halfight, Spear of the Church[/sp], is one of my favorite part of the DLC, and maybe of the whole game, since it's basically an enhanced version of [sp]The Old Monk[/sp] from Demon's Soul, an encounter I really liked (althought I don't [sp]do much PvP[/sp]). I even joined [sp]the dedicated covenant for it[/sp], so I'm really satisfied
also fuck midir
:rrerr::rrerr::rrerr:

Why do that if you have you know Avelyn which is still a good pressure tool
10-shot from RC does less damage that 3-shot from avelyn. And you have to 2hand it because weapon art so don't expect doing some sick moves like [sp]phase 3 Gael[/sp].
WTF??? There was an NPC next to the first RC bonfire this whole time? How many of you actually knew this? I finished the DLC on two characters already and I never knew this fucker was here. First NPC I saw coming into the Ringed City. I mentioned it on my post back on pg. 12.

Well then, [sp]since there's been such a shitstorm around Midir I got curious on why he's so shit. Turns out he's a fucking carbon copy of Ocerios! He's exactly the fucking same, I'm kind of shocked it's not been even mentioned yet. He behaves the same but now he's bigger and is slightly more annoying since he does so much fucking damage. Just like Ocerios he darts around the fucking place like a lunatic, his tail is annoying and his hitbox is whack. But this also means he has the same fucking weakness of shields, meaning all you ever have to deal with is chip damage as long as you don't fuck up your stamina managment. However Ocerios is also a shit boss, fight me.[/sp]
That guy's weird, since [sp]he's dressed like the other Pygmy Lords but lacks a crown, and disappears completely after the final fight[/sp]
There's been speculation that he is the [sp]furtive pigmy, because how much knowledge he has of the situation, and ironically, how easy players forget about him.[/sp]
hey wanna hear a relevant ds3 joke? [sp]poise[/sp]
Unlocking your camera when hes doing any combo helped me a lot.
No lock on bosses is my #1 rule since DaS1. That close up of Asylum Demon's ass still gives me nightmares.

Managed to beat [sp]Midir[/sp] for me and my buddy by just gassing the fuck out of him with Pestilent Mercury. It was glorious.
Vordt's Greathammer is so enjoyable now. Having a blast with this weapon. Frost build up in 3 hits and Perseverance for weapon art.

It was glorious.
I'd imagine status stacking is helpful on him too but it's a bit harder to do in this one. One of my favorite builds in DS2 was wearing some of the Butterfly gear and having a dagger with poison and a dagger with bleed. Didn't do much physical damage, but the poison and bleed added up quick and it was a serious mind-games build.
i've read plenty about pestilent mercury absolutely murdering midir, never tried that because i'm too lazy to respec

Summoning for Spears of the Church is so inconsistent for me. Sometimes is pretty regular, the other times it becomes Darkmoon 2.0.
fuck midir
why are so many people [sp]including myself[/sp] so thirsty for midir i don't get it
Thanks to whoever mentioned that Pestilent Mercury is a viable tactic against [sp]Midir[/sp] because it made fighting him with my Pyromancer build the most ironically easiest fight I've ever had against him. :v: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/91603163193725814/C88424D069B00A61AC25331E83AE94323F3CA435/
How's the Scar fully upgraded?
For obvious reasons it's weaker as a catalyst, since it doubles as a pretty good sword, but surprisingly not by as much as I was expecting. [editline]1st April 2017[/editline] While it doesn't excel at either job, it's comparably good at both.
How's the Scar fully upgraded?
In terms of spell usage it's slightly weaker than the Pyromancy Flame, but not by much. With that said, it doubles as a very decent curved sword, with an increased critical hit rate and a viable weapon art. So it's pretty good, but not necessarily a game-changer.
