Two great things about the Scar is that it weighs 0.5 and is pure fire damage, it works wonders against enemies weak to fire, and it can be used as a back-up weapon if your first is really slow or something because of how little it weighs.
i've read plenty about pestilent mercury absolutely murdering midir, never tried that because i'm too lazy to respec
You don't need to invest in much other than the stats to use it, the damage scales off of the enemy's maximum health and not your spell buff. That's why it is so good on that boss since it's got crazy amounts of health.
Man I find it hard to believe this Spear of the Church covenant is dead already. It takes like 30 minutes just to get summoned now.
Finally got into the DLC on a new character and WHY DOES EVERYTHING HURT SO BADLY

I NEED IT
I've done it, I've done it! I finally fixed my weird ass freezing bug! After dozens of hours reading web forums, figuring out system performance, doing a complete display driver uninstall and fresh reinstall with the most up to date drivers, clearing out my old USB drivers (some were still active for some reason) and one really dumb fucking setting change later (changing lighting quality from max to high), it's finally fixed! He heh hah hah Hah! He heh heh ha ha ha ha!

Thought I fixed it, turns out I was wrong. It's happening less so it's at least much more tolerable than before, went an entire boss fight without it happening (only to have it shit its pants right after) but that's an improvement at least. Not much I can do, it keeps peaking my GPU for whatever reason, whatever that reason is is beyond me.
I really hope those paired greatswords get nerfed to uselessness. Those weapons have exhausted any fun I found in pvp. Literally everyone runs it and there's nothing you can do when you have two people spawnkilling you repeatedly with it's ridiculous combos while spamming applaude. I just want them to go away so I can enjoy myself again.
They're already kinda not great though. They're really easy to dodge and you can always hit them before they hit you.

If you're a dex guy maybe, but if you're a big buff STRENGTH MAN, you can easily outpoise them with any other STR weapon and stagger them out of their combo. And what Potato said, their initial running stab is easily avoidable and you can easily punish them if they whiff it.

It's not that I'm saying their brokenly good. They're just not fun to fight in my opinion. I run an Ultra Greatsword against them so it's easy to fight them but it's just the assholes of the community combined with instakill spawncamping that makes me despise them. It ruins the fun of 2v2s for me. It's exhausting and I'm already tired of seeing them in literally every duel just because "haha im annoying and edgy". When I kill someone in pvp they immediately switch to it. When I hurt them they switch to it. It's the go-to weapon for literally everyone. I am so sick of this weapon and I just want it to go away for a bit. It gets old seeing the same weapon literally everywhere.

I don't get what makes them assholes for using it?? Or edgy, for that matter. You say they're easy to fight against, so why is it a problem?
Maybe I'm just being a bitter little bitch.

One I can easily handle but I play a lot of 2v2s and run into duos that both run it and spam taunts. I've even gotten messages insulting me from literally only people that use it.
Some people just like to be toxic in the arena for the sake of being toxic. Like how 80% of katana users are just salty weebs that spam running attacks and then point down when they kill you. :v: Probably compensating for their own delicate feelings.
Ooh if we're talking cancer then holy shit am I sick of the Giant Door Shield already.
Me before Ringed City: "Well that's a neat addition! I always thought the Twins in DS2 were fun."
Me after Ringed City: "I swear to god if it's another 3stack with a door shield"
I've defeated the final boss of The Ringed City.
Gotta say, [sp]Gael[/sp] was such a massive disappointment I really can't fathom how people are considering [sp]him[/sp] to be among the best bosses of the entire series. I literally ran circles around him while holding my medium shield up and hit [sp]him[/sp] once in a while for the entire fight and managed to beat [sp]him[/sp] on my first try (my character level is 114, so I can't even think I was overlevelled for it). Only, as the boss was dying I was [sp]struck by lighting[/sp] and died on the spot, but was awarded the kill anyway.
The [sp]post-boss fight duel against Shira[/sp] wasn't fullfilling either, as the NPC was one of the easiest NPC fight I had in the entire DLC (again, I just circled around [sp]her[/sp] and backstabbed her again and again with impunity).
Also, are you fucking serious? The very final boss of the entire Souls series is a fucking [sp] background NPC no one gave two shits about before this boss fight? And he's yet another reasonably good guy who has gone mad with DA DARK POWAH and fights like a crazed berserker?[/sp] I was honestly expecting a bit more, considering that the previous section of the DLC implied [sp]we were going to face off against the Furtive Pygmy or his descendant, maybe in a multiple boss fight or duel against a supposed avatar of the Dark Souls a la Soul of Cinder. But no. Huge guy with huge sword. Alright[/sp].
I know that once again no one will agree with me on this, but this DLC was only marginally better than Ashes of Ariandel before it. Gameplay-wise, while it added some new tools for us to play with and one or two cool boss encounters, more often than not you feel like the developers decided to padd the lenght of the whole thing with cheap gimmicks so that people wouldn't complain the DLC was too short. Lore-wise, this was supposed to be the grand finale of the whole series and bring the games' world to a closure: instead, much like Ashes, the whole story seems just to be a filler or something, new lore elements are introduced with little fanfare and dealt with as quickly (I'm thinking of [sp]Filianore[/sp]) and at the end of it all you are left with several questions, and not in the good way

What chime/talisman would be great to cast dark weapon with? on a 40INT/FAI build. people been suggesting the Sunless talisman or Caitha's Chime.
EDITED
seems like the canvas talisman is the best buffing talisman, going with that.
The paired ugs are dumb. fun but stupid.
The only reason i hate these swords are due to phantom range and lag otherwise they can get frostbite and outpoise.
And getting ganked by multiple people with that it's painfully annoying.
Also i had so much pleasure to kill giant door players with Gnaw miracle and some poison\bleed. They get so desperate.

that's good to know for my ng+7 rerun. atleast i have the gratification of knowing i beat him the hard way!
as for [sp]slave knight gael[/sp], a lot of people including myself loved that fight, my reasons being mainly how satisfying it was, but also [sp]his moveset resembling artorias + the orphan of kos: he's fast and increasing in pace as the battle goes on.
the BGM is beautiful with its changes during the several phases, akin to ludwig's in bloodborne.
lorewise, first impressions are underwhelming, but it's only by digging deeper i understood he couldn't be more perfect to fit the theme of the series: two undead warriors that managed to outlive the gods and the very land battle over something that doesn't even exist anymore, with the world completely gone to the glue factory. it doesn't get any more poignant, depressing and hopeless than that, again fitting really well the theme of the souls games.[/sp]
i need more soulslikes in my life tho help

I just like being a dick for the sake of it. Watching extreme edgelords and tryhards get salty to hell and back is always fun :v:
One of the things that gets me the most hatemail is pulling off a miracle heal in the arena.
It's not like people realize I had to build a character specifically geared towards miracle usage, nope - muh honor!

[sp]Still gotta remember that the world can never truly "die", however. Even if the world does fall to darkness, the Fire will eventually appear again, and the world will be reborn. I think the implication here is that we're still going with the very first cycle ever, and it has yet to restart.[/sp]

[sp]While I can agree with your argument about the music, and the one about Gael's lore, to an extent, I can't agree on Gael being on par with Artorias and Orphan of Kos in terms of fight design.
What made both Artorias and the Orphan so difficult and satisfying to face, aside from them being fast and aggressive bosses, is the fact they not only had a large pool of moves, but their A.I.s were advanced enough to pull out the right move at the right time to screw with you.
I'm the kind of guy who likes to base his playing style on good positioning and well-timed hits more than on parries or brute force, and I still remember how much trouble was Artorias to me because he had this move where he would turn 180° degree and throw some black, staggering goo at you to prevent you from hitting him in the back too much. The same can be said about the Orphan throwing exploding blood drops at you while jumping away at the same time.
Gael is a boss fight that tries to ape Artorias without actually understanding what made said fight so good. Something that surprises me because both were made by the same developers. As I said in my previous posts, I managed to beat him by doing nothing but circling around him with my shield up and hitting him once he exausted his predictable combos.
Personally, but this is highly debatable, I think they decided to add random lighting strikes and a magical cape that hit you between hist master's combos because even they realized, else, the boss would had been too easy[/sp]
The ladder leading to [sp]Midir[/sp] probably killed more people than [sp]Midir himself[/sp]. Everyone keeps slipping down on those bloodstains.

If you haven't tried it yet salt and sanctuary is pretty great

I had two invaders use them. One was in Anor Londo where the environment allows me to dodge freely, while the other was in the part of the new DLC where a push could send me falling to my death. For the amount of time spent fighting against them, its not the moveset, but where you fight them and how much of an advantage you have.
Speaking of environment, I'm having a rough time with the two fat abyss knight enemies by the NPC in the locked building. I got killed when speaking to her one time and there are tons of those ambush hollows.
fixed my controller and only just started playing DS3, at what point can i start doing multiplayer? so far i've only come across one summon sign and that was for an NPC
You can start multiplayer anytime. Be sure to be connected online, be embered to summon\be invaded, have the white soap if you wanna help. Invasion is a bit hard to do at start since it might be limited uses from an item but a npc quest will help you get the one for unlimited uses.

do you mean pvp or co-op? for coop you need to buy the white soapstone from the shrine handmaid and for pvp you should get either the red eye orb from leonhard's quest or the red soapstone near rosaria's bedchamber. good areas to put down/find summon signs are near bonfires before bosses, or before the boss fog-walls themselves. good pvp areas are the "halfway fortress" side of the swamps and much later the "balcony" behind pontiff sullyvahn's boss arena.
can someone for the love of god help me kill the optional ringed city boss before i start crying
