Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread XIII. The Ringed City

Going back to this in the old thread;
[QUOTE=Nidhogg]There was a short comic someone made on tumblr that was the story of DS3 told from the viewpoint of a female undead, and it was probably the best fucking thing I ever laid my eyes on. It perfectly captured that feel of Dark Souls, with a little flair of Berserk too.
These official comics feels too fucking obvious they were made by people who had no idea what the source material was. They read like generic fantasy crap.
Edited:
Found it. Read this shit, it's a million times better than any official comic ever printed.

I like the idea in the stroy where [sp]the soul(s) you absorb from killing an enemy allows you to see their lives flash before your eyes. It gives you a sense of humanity for the things you slay. You're not just killing a demon or a zombie, you're killing things that have ended many lives before you.[/sp] Though I imagine this could get tiring if those story elements continue.
Some talk about the new DLC. Someone on Reddit was playing the DLC without breaking the embargo, and has said that its ten times better than Ashes of Ariandel. Story spoilers were left out for obvious reasons.

Nioh actually does something kind of similar.[sp]Usually when you pick up an item from a dead body, it gives you a small snippet a dialogue from that the person before they died. Usually giving you some kind of background story or some kind of hint/tip for something coming up. Same thing when a you get possessed by a new Guardian Spirit.[/sp]
Did clubs get a huge buff in the recent patch? Everyone seems to be using great hammers now.
[editline]25th March 2017[/editline]
Which is disappointing because I also just started using the great club.
Had my first hacker invade me, after a constant fight of frame perfect dodges, baiting and forcing him to drink all his estus.
He gets his first hit on me and it's an insta-kill light attack with a dagger, 800 damage.
And he had the gall to taunt...
What a coward.
As a little more info, it was during me replaying again as warrior.
At the very start of High Wall I was invaded by him, he had DLC armour and I was still using the starter gear.
Yeah, with the exceptions of our fightclubs, Im not going to be playng until the dlc is out.

This reminds me, how the hell would insight translate in text form? I'd like to continue my little Bloodborne story pet project some time, but I'm tied up with story elements being turned into a novel format. How is the scene [sp]where the good hunter observes Amelias skull, gets a vision, remembers a phrase for a password, then warps back[/sp] gonna work?

You could take cues from games like Pillars of Eternity or Torment: Tides of Numenera. Scenes like that happen quite often and they do a pretty good job at making it flow well in text form.

Yeah, great hammers (which includes great clubs) got a buff; from what I understand they swing faster now?

The R2 to R1 is really quick now. It seems like you can actually do a 3 hit combo that way so people will often drop in one combo.
[QUOTE=Brobattington;52010848]Holy crap, I just realized that the dead, calcified bodies you find in the Depths are the bodies of actual players who died because of the Basilisks' curse, that's fucking awesome.[/QUOTE]
The same is true for the Great Hallow.
Earlier, I got a bug while invading someone. Somehow, I was able to get a boss item before getting booted out of the hosts world. I don't know how rare this is, or if it's only on PS4.

So, the Ringed City comes out in two days, if I'm not mistakes.
I guess the time has come to reinstall the game and get proficent at it after months of inactivity

Their startup was slightly buffed and their recovery is much faster now
I find it amusing how much i changed how i play
Ran with a Katana for most of the game, after Ariandel i walked around with a Scythe, and now i smash people with the Greatsword
Altough the best thing to do is just be able to use everything melee
I love switching things up
Good news: I pre-ordered The Ringed City on PS4.
Bad news: I eff'ed up [sp]Yuria's sidequest as I was going for the "Link the Fire" ending[/sp] Anyone know with a 'yes' or 'no' answer if the 2nd DLC will have special changes if [sp]you're aiming for the Ursurp the Fire ending?[/sp]
The 2nd DLC isn't even out yet, how would any of us even know

I'd assume someone had leak info from reddit or something.
Don't popular youtube and twitch people get to play the dlc today? Could probably get some answers by watching that.

I do and I don't. I don't want to see any footage of the DLC, yet I'm curious if [sp]Yuria's[/sp] sidequest adds any changes like in Ashes of Ariandel.
I doubt it would change much. Maybe some dialogue would be slightly different.
Oh man, Greatlance buff is a GODSEND. I'm actually killing people now. :v: It only took them a damn year, but they finally did it.
Will probably make another montage video soon whenever I stop being a lazy shmuck.
[editline]derp[/editline]
Tips on using the Greatlance is basically the same as before (aka bait the enemy into your stab), only now the lance does actual respectable damage in part for the heavy infusion buff as well as the improved distance of the moveset. You'll find yourself using R2's more often than your R1's purely because most opponents will try to dodge to your side once they see the wind-up animation, only to end up getting hit by the end of the R2 stab. Both the running charge and the R2 stab use the same opening animation, so it's very easy to psyche people into thinking you're about to charge and instead you poke them almost immediately.

This has happened to me once or twice on PC. It happens really bad in the road of sacrifices. I'll invade and it'll put me in a world where the host is already fighting the crystal sage, but it won't kick me out when I get in there. So I just chill out in front of the fog gate and spam "Hello" to encourage/annoy them.

Or use a shield with weapon art and mix up the weapon art with r2 but i find r2 and r1 way harder to land. R2 and running r1 barely steer so it's either to chase someone or just trade bait along with weapon art.
The reql poke is the l1+r1 which is the shield and poke because it works exactly like the spear: almost instant compared to greatlance normal attacks.
Other than that i've been mostly one shotting with the trade, it's much harder to fight people who have a parrying shield and know how a lance works. :v:
Patch just dropped, it's 859 MB.

Does that mean the dlc is released already? I'm not sure which timezone it's released on the 28th.

Doesn't seem so. It's another preparation before the full release. I've tried searching the entrance but nothing.
And steam says i don't have the Ringed City installed yet
Why the hell Crow Quills was nerfed? The only DEX weapon i enjoyed got robbed off of his S dex scaling with Sharp gem.
Now it's A with ~389 ar down from ~437 ar at 60 DEX.
Well the DLC did drop somewhere. Why? Because the fucking new bosses are on my "Recommended" playlist bar on Youtube! Thanks, Youtube! Going dark for now.

Some got it early but couldn't say anything due to the embargo, it's what i think (luckily haven't seen these recommended videos)

I don't know how to feel about the Crow Quills, it was already stronger than most of the thrusting weapons like Rapier\Estoc just because of the R1 alone. You really don't use for the weapon art, maybe the L1 but it has short range.
I was expecting the Milwood Battle Axe to be nerfed since it's universally the strongest battle axe with a much better weapon art.
you guys dont suppose im being too hopeful that sir alonne's gear might return in this last DLC? :v:
