Somehow I've struggled consistently with Champion Gundyr on every character I've ever made. Always die like 30 times before I beat him. Him and Nameless king. Maybe they're just at my brain's speed limit. edit: Of course I beat him right after complaining.

If we're talking about OSTs, I think a favorite of mine for Dark-Souls III would be the (hugely unappreciated, in my opinion) Crystal Sage theme: Especially the first section. That baseline gives me chills every damn time. It's such a shame most people don't get to fully appreciate this guy's music because he enters stage 2 so damn quick and tends to die pretty soon after that. But I think my all-time favorite theme from the whole series would have to be Ludwig's phase 2 from bloodborne... I've never played Bloodborne, sadly (I will never forgive Sony for making it PS4 exclusive until the day it's released on PC) but I must have watched various people play through it and Old Hunters a dozen times now. There's just something glorious about this piece, especially considering the fight that accompanies it. It's at once menacing but also kind of inspiring!? Like... Okay, Old Hunters spoilers here so: [sp]When you first find Ludwig, he's just another demented, rampaging monster. And while his first phase is impressive, it's nothing "special"... But then you get him to the halfway point and suddenly the bastard starts talking! Then, an aquamarine glow fills the room and the camera pans over to the side... And there's the motherfucking Moonlight Greatsword jutting out of the ground! My fucking jaw dropped when I saw this happen. But it doesn't stop there... With this signature From Software weapon in hand, Ludwig straightens up and now, suddenly, you're not just fighting another mutated apparition. Now, you're going up against a giant, four-legged swordsman! Like some kind of horrific centaur, Ludwigs attacks become precise and measured as he attacks you like a true warrior. All the while, this goddamn music is blasting in the background. Very few fights have truly managed to give that kind of feeling before, or since, if you ask me.[/sp]
So I finally got to the final boss of the dlc, and boy there's a lot to unpack. I think this is an amazing fight, and I haven't beaten [sp]Gael. I think I spent around 30 minutes trying to survive the onslaught. The music, the challenge, even the lore behind the boss is amazing. The cut scene in the middle is dripping with atmosphere and amps up the 2nd round.[/sp] Just when I had sliced off the health bar all the way, a surprise move happened and I died. I had one swing left, but I was caught off-guard and I died!! My heart. I do feel a bit sick from this little rush. I think its time to take a break and deal with the boss the next day.
[sp]The place he kicks you down to will take you to the next bonfire in the area very quickly, dodging hallways full of skeletons and a red NPC invader. Afterwards, you can find Patches' white soapstone fight before an upcoming boss. He was acting like his usual mischievous self, but he was really helping you, and you killed him for it.[/sp]
[sp] Just to let you know DLC Patches and main game Patches are different. It doesn't matter if you kill main Patches because you know he's the same asshole that tried to lock you inside the firelink tower and the cathedral. Time convoluted nonsense prettt much ruined it for me[/sp]

I must be the only one who found the final boss of The Ringed City to be hastly put together, unoriginal and pulled out of the developers' ass as far as "the lore" is concerned.

The chanting, the organ; He betrayed his mentor and built up the most powerful organization in Yharnam, ultimately what came to control the entire city. He had used the blood and it brought him power and helped the people of Yharnam. Willem seemed like a fool to turn away from the Old Blood! And then it goes into the middle section which chants about fearing the blood, as Willem's adage said. And then it goes into a soul cutting violin. Willem was right, and through Laurence's hubris, he brought doom to those he ultimately tried to help. Now he has become nothing but a beast, this beast before you that has been reduced to a crawling thing literally melting away into molten lava. He built up the city on the Old Blood, and the Old Blood is what caused its downfall. He realized his folly but it was too late. There was little he could do, the beasts were a scourge now. And all because He strayed from Willem's teachings. He didn't fear the Old Blood, and he payed the price. [/sp] [editline]10th April 2017[/editline] Bloodborne is one of the best games ever made, and I think The Old Hunters is the best dlc made for a game ever.
nope, not sure what you can do when each hit makes you stagger.
Poise, my man. Use the poise. [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/qoerlh.mp4[/vid] You get additional bonus poise as a Spear, so stack as much poise as you can, use a heavy weapon, and spank all the ganks you desire.
Involves Ringed City boss spoilers: [sp]So who are your guys' favorite DLC dragons? (Kalameet, Sinh, & Midir)[/sp] [sp]If I were to rate them I would personally go Sinh > Midir > Kalameet. Sinh is one of my all time favorite Souls boss. I just really enjoy fighting him. Midir was pretty cool, defiantly the flashiest of the three. I might get some flack for this, but I only thought Kalameet was just an okay boss. After Artorias and Manus (Who are also my all time favorites), Kalameet didn't really do much for me. He was still a cool fight but not really one of my favorites.[/sp]
Maybe SL120 is too high of a level for the Spear of the Church, 'cuz I rarely ever get summoned now in comparison to the DLC's launch night.
I've been having short waiting times at level 63. 120 is way too high for the DLCs to even pose a decent challenge imo.

At least that's what it seems to be since wearing full set of the Lothric knight armour does nothing even against rats that nibble on my toenail. Only poise I noticed is the one that comes from some special movesets.

It's now all about the hyper armour so you could attack through the enemies attacks.

Now it only determines who gets staggered first when attacking at the same time. Or basically who gets the priority in their hyper armor. [editline]derp[/editline] dammit, that's what I get for not refreshing
Pretty sure poise always existed in DS3, people were just too dumb to notice it since it worked so differently.
Not really, it existed but in such a minimal way that you might as well not even call a meaningful stat. This is why everybody laughs at DS3 Poise. Now it actually does something. You can go back and try playing with heavy armor and mace and it'd be awful compared to what is now. Same with a Greatsword, also Halberds used to be extremely good with decent poise armor but it got nerfed and requires an excessive amount of heavy armour to HA most of the things. It was really bad.
I'm not even on NG+ and I can't get past [sp]the demon bros and prince[/sp]. I've gotten pretty close, but I can't handle it alone on my sorcerer build. Summoning more than one person makes my magic practically useless and I can't get a breather doing it by myself as I'm constantly chased down.
I've been reading up more on the lore in ringed city and i never thought i'd say this but man [sp]fuck gwyn[/sp]

Don't summon more than one phantom unless you enjoy 20 min fights. 2. Somehow spamming magic (Souls Spear, Soul Arrow, etc) does much less impact than hitting with melee weapon. [sp]Demon Prince fucking dies to MLGS or Longsword with CMW[/sp].

PvP reasons perhaps?
Oh, that's kinda lame. Any reasons for that? PvP reasons perhaps?
No explanations by the devs. Even so it's laughable. Kind of wanted DS1 poise for PvE at least, i'm sure you can some way make PvE effects\PvP effect just like they did with some rings for no reason. (Also i'm still baffled how poison is still underwhelming after the buff. I just think the devs have a fear of breaking this old engine after they cowardly backed out the Acid Surge good change)

This makes scumbags who try to endlessly summon their butt buddies completely helpless.
Reduced the absorption bonus during the latter half of "Perseverance" weapon skill
Oh my god, are they actually killing Perseverance? I guess the memeswords will reign supreme after all. Well, maybe. The poise bonus remains unchanged, but it looks like you'll take a lot more damage now as the effect wears off. [editline]derp[/editline] Oh, and matchmaking is being changed. It looks like invaders can invade slightly higher levels now, but weapon upgrade levels are more strict.
Plus, I've a got a surprise! New matchmaking rules? Here they are!
When a white phantom dies during an invasion, the host will now be unable to summon subsequent white phantoms for a certain period of time (this change does not apply to covenant based invasions)
:freakout: [editline]10th April 2017[/editline]
Added a small window where damage taken is increased after initiating a parry with "Fist" and "Claw" category weapons
Back to small shields, guys.
Increased the charge rate for effects that trigger on continuous attacks (e.g. "Pontiff's Right Eye", "Old Wolf Curved Sword", "Carthus Beacon")
Does this mean the effects happen sooner or later?
It seems the Giant Seed can wear off over time now. I guess that's kinda nice for invaders if they're patient enough to wait it out.
With a Ring of Steel +3, it could very well completely nullify the drawbacks of Prisoner's Chain. Of course this depends on how much they reduce the ring's penalty.
I actually like the Prisoner's Chain, glad to see it buffed.
I knew the Greatlance was still awful with the tracking, now it's a full fun weapon hopefully. Perseverance is one of the strongest abilities but idk having damage reduced helps balancing, it does defeat the purpose on trading at bigger and potentially equally strong weapons. Holy shit they finally nerfednthe bloodring but still leave Great Magic Shield with overblown unmovable stability :v: Interested on the invasion/blue online activity
Reduced damage of "Dark", "Fire" and "Raw" infusions for "Lothric Knight Greatsword"
This one really stands out to me. I haven't even heard of people using those infusions on that weapon, let alone their being an issue worth addressing. I wonder what prompted this.
With a Ring of Steel +3, it could very well completely nullify the drawbacks of Prisoner's Chain. Of course this depends on how much they reduce the ring's penalty.
Steel protection only works in PvE, the damage increase would still remain unchanged in PvP
Steel protection only works in PvE, the damage increase would still remain unchanged in PvP
Where did you hear this? [editline]derp[/editline]
With testing.
Okay, but I was kinda asking for a source. I'd like to see these numbers.
Where did you hear this?
With testing. Many rings have their effect reduced in PvP but i don't remember if this was patched out. I would like having a damn reason to use Ring of Steel in PvP, it was my go to in DS2. Like, so many testing for many things since this game has some dark sense of humour on misinformation
