Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread XIII. The Ringed City

Rolling in DeS feels like absolute ass. I mean DaS fastroll was superb everywhere but DeS fastroll fucks me over more than occasional panic fatroll.
Got Armor Spider by literally blocking all the shit while with rolling it always ended with me being covered in web and spammed to death with fireballs.
so i haven't played DS3 since june last year, did they fix the Darkmoon covenant yet?
Gael's Greatsword is so strong it banishes people into the shadow realm. :v:
Not to mention it doesn't give the same feeling of satisfaction as invading with the odds stacked against you and coming out on top in the end.
I fucked around with some invasions after a friend who's way more into the game set up a new character of mine (see: gave me a buncha end-tier rings and equipment before rolling back his save) and I make a stupid character called "A Stinky Goblin" at SL20 to invade the Swamp.
And let me just say, as a Moundmaker, my invasions went one of a few ways:
1. The host has a gank patrol of 1-3. My odds are basically nil since I was just using Dark Hand + Parry; as Gael's GS scales down kind of horribly without upgrades and at bare minimum requirements. On the off-chance I kill the host, it feels great for having avoided an awful stunlocky gangbang. And it feels even better when I just kill the phantom(s) they can resummon and get autofuckedoff with a victory.
2. The host immediately summons a Blue Sentinel. These fucks are usually classed as "anti-cuntslikeme" so the fights tend to be way harder, but otherwise it's the same bag of worms as above. I'm usually fighting a 2 v 1 which is fine since I'm the asshole here, but man if it's tricky when you're using a short range weapon and their connection is bad.
3. The host is alone and vulnerable - in which case I try to make an effort to give them an Ember before either running off to attack later or attacking head-on. That way it's mostly a win-win scenario for all of us.
4. The host dies of his or her own volition because From can't design an intelligent invasion spawn-location system and I've been running for like 10 minutes before hearing a random death wail because they fell off a cliff. I'd rather choose the ones where I awkwardly spawn infront of all 2-4 players of the gank patrol, drop a "HELP ME!" and bend over.
ps. Curl Up is the best gesture.

Combined with the ring to get rid of your BRIGHT SHEEN, this tactic works nearly 100% of the time.
so i haven't played DS3 since june last year, did they fix the Darkmoon covenant yet?
They're increasing the number of Darkmoon availability from one slot to two slots in an upcoming patch, so hopefully that'll cut down on the wait times.

Tbh i hope this doesn't get nerfed. It's not usually a 1 shot kill on most PvP builds and there's gimmicky, worse stuff out there.
[Editline]fidjf[/editline]
I mean technically with the Arts hyperarmor nerf, it's already been nerfed, so i hope the combo stays.
The only time it ever 1-shots is if it's a phantom with light armor since they tend to have lower health than the host. But even then, sometimes the overhead leap might miss and land right next to them, so it's not actually AS broken as it appears to be.

A 3 hit combo is probably gonna get nerfed just like you could do with the spin.
Would make up if the moveset is bad but it's not
You can put a leo ring and just r2 2handed for the win :v:
Although i feel the Crucifix of Mad King is gonna get obliterated due to his high AR, dark blade, big l2 hitbox and poise stun.
I thought Splitleaf Greatsword would be broken with his r1 into l2 into r1\r2 combo but boy these dlc weapons are nuts
I will say if there is one thing that does make invasions boring, I've had a few hosts were the second they notice they're invaded, I see they sprint full-tilt back to a bonfire, summon as many people as they can muster, and then they all sit and just wait. I wish Dung Bombs were a little more effective. :v:

This cunt caught a glimpse of me, and so far I've been able to eat a full bowl of cereal and catch up on some Youtube, waiting to see if him and the host will ever move.

Totally predictable.
Hey, it's a good final destination place, right? :v:
1v1, no items, caestus only, Pontiff Sulyvahn arena :v:
1v1, no items, caestus only, Pontiff Sulyvahn arena :v:
i love it.
Invaded someone who was alone, did the usual free ember thing, and they started showing their back to me wanting to get it over with.
So I dropped 5 more embers, threw a "VERY GOOD" and bailed.
Last one before I go to bed :v:

I think i've put this off long enough.

OK, so apparently this guy found my Steam profile, found my Tumblr through it, then sent me a DM saying he's going to sue me in 24 hours if I don't pull down this video. :v:
I wish I took a screenshot of the DM before answering it, I didn't know Tumblr automatically deletes any DM's you've replied to.
so im trying to replay dark souls 2 scholar, and I'm having this reall awkward stuttering that nothing seems to fix. I've even gone as far as to cap the fps at 30, force triple buffering, triple vsync, nothing - anyone had this issue?
[editline]11th April 2017[/editline]
like the game will be at a stable 30-60 framerate and the counter does not move an inch and yet the characters skip animation frames
I've tried pre-rendered frames, yes, they do nothing
ugh i wish the helmet of the morne set wasnt so god damn ugly
I'm feeling personally attacked right now.
I have this sudden urge to make a Ganondorf build.
I actually did in DS2 with Powerstanced Greatswords based off of his Hyrule Warriors incarnation, it worked pretty well. You could do the same with the Ringed Twoswords no problem.
ugh i wish the helmet of the morne set wasnt so god damn ugly, the only other head item that looks alright with the rest of the set is the old sage's blindfold but that takes away any form of head protection
I want to use Black Witch's Veil but it looks like a wet towel in DaS3.

Thank god... I miss that old stomping ground.
I think it'd be better if it had some of the Irithyll buildings surrounding it, though. That, or give us an "urban" style arena map with some dimensionality.
Other places that'd make for good arenas:
- The huge area where you fight the Champion's Gravetender and the Gravetender's Greatwolf.
- Nameless King's "Fight on a literal stormcloud cloud" boss arena.
- Callback to DSII's Iron Keep Bridge complete with gaps in the railing to knock people into lava.
- Something with a lot of environmental traps (spikes, arrow walls, ect...) Maybe Sen's Fortress?
- Maybe something with a lot of fog (Shaded Woods?) or darkness (Abyss?)
- Anor Londo Cathedral, pre-ruined version. AKA; Ornstien & Smough's Slam-Jam-Central.
- An arena that gradually changes, maybe one that slowly catches fire and reduces the fighting room.
Oh, and some damn incentives for the fighting, too. That'd be nice. I mean, they put so much emphasis on the whole "pick your side" thing for the trailer, why not give covenant specific rewards depending on what covenant you have active while you fight?
Hell, it could be an opportunity to introduce some post-DLC content into the game, I mean, why the hell not?
Some ideas:
Way of Blue: Imported set from Dark-Souls II - the DSII Starting gear, makes sense seeing as Way of Blue is the first covenant most DSII players get, and the set could make for some cool fashion souls. Perhaps it could be called something like the "Forgotten" set or something. Potentially also the Aurous set (both the invisible and visible versions, or one version that changes) given the lore regarding it being "invisible to cowards", hardy-har-har. It's a pretty cool set in any case, mind.
Warriors of Sunlight: Giant Armour set from O.G Dark-Souls. I shouldn't even need to explain my reasoning here. #TheLegendNeverDies. But in all seriousness, we could quite easily see a return of the Great Lord's set seeing as the whole idea behind the sunbros was a dedication to Gwyn.
Blue Sentinels: Either the Heide Knight set or the Old Knight set again from Dark-Souls II. Two great armour sets which I'd love to see in the game again. Chosen because both these enemies are associated with Heide's Tower of Flame, which is where the Cathedral of Blue is located, and seems to be Blue Sentinel H.Q.
Mound Makers: Jester's set from Dark-Souls II and/or Chester's set from Dark-Souls I. Mostly because I maintain that Jester Thomas was the first Mound Maker (Put his summon sign down in a pool of poison, dual wields pyromancy flames, can solo Mytha the Baneful Queen, invades you later on and uses the "Warmth" pyromancy during his assault.) And Chester because he also fits the bill as a "wildcard" style character (Shows up out of nowhere with practically zero context, acts all friendly and sells you things, but later on invades you and acts all pouty if you beat him.)
Watchdogs of Farron: Lord's Blade set and/or Gough's Set from Dark-Souls I, because both were knights of Gwyn allied with Artorias, so it'd make sense that fighting for his legacy could grant you rewards related to him. Perhaps also the "intact" Greatsword of Artorias as well, with a similar moveset to the boss soul version. Maybe with a description talking about Grey Wolf Sif, who wielded a replica of the sword (potentially with a name like "Grey Wolf's Greatsword").
Rosaria's Fingers: Forlorn set from Dark-Souls II, because during Scholar of the First Sin, these guys invade you constantly throughout the game (a total of 4 times, I believe?) and have some similarities to the Darkwraiths from Dark-Souls I. Also, the armour looks friggen cool. Perhaps we could also get the Chaos set, also from Dark-Souls II. Another really cool looking set worn by a guy who invades you multiple times. Also, it'd give dark sorcerers some nice new gear.
Aldritch Faithful: This one's a bit tough seeing as we don't really have a faction quite like this one from the previous games. The only things I can think of would be the Shadow set from Dark-Souls II, mainly because it looks friggen cool. Possibly we could get some references to Bloodborne, given the whole "Age of Deep" Aldritch has got going. Something like the Choir set or the classic Hunter set would be nice, but it's a bit of a stretch.
Blades of the Darkmoon: The Black set from Dark-Souls I (Judgement set in DSII) would work for this, seeing as its worn by priests of Velka who are all about that "punishing the guilty" thing. Not to mention all the parallels between their fighting style and the Darkmoon Knightess. We could also potentially get the Gwyndolin Moonlight set, but that might not work quite as well.
Spears of the Church: As good an opportunity as ever to bring back the Paladin set from Dark-Souls I and/or the Looking Glass set from Dark-Souls II. The paladin one goes without saying, given the "holy" nature of the Spears of the Church covenant. But the Looking Glass Knight was the last game's "fight another player!" boss, so it'd make sense to have that set, too, seeing as we already have the y̶e̶l̶l̶o̶w̶ ̶t̶o̶r̶n̶a̶d̶o̶ ̶h̶a̶t "Old Monk" style armour.
Any excuse to get some of those old armour sets back with the newer, slicker graphics engine is good enough for me, really.
Fashion Souls for life.
So this happened:

(It somehow recorded my microphone, so get ready for some dutch language.)
Got summoned as a phantom for SoTC boss and got a connection error.
Moments later I get summoned as a SoTC. The thing is, I don't have the covenant unlocked yet.
Paladin set - best set.
Having just the helm alone would be fucking amazing.
I finally found it. My twin soul, my lost brother.
I was running a Winged Knight Twin Axe with my 66 strenght character then i got summoned by an Exile cosplayer in the TRC DLC.
I had to do it and instantly switched back to my Great Club Exile

But then just when we fought [sp] Midir[/sp] he instantly dies :v:
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/uckyof.mp4[/vid]
Also sorry for the quality, i play with lowest settings and it still runs awful
The arena I would like the most is the high wall with white flowers from the beginning of the Ringed City.

That area is beautiful, but the respawning [sp]judicator giant[/sp] ruins it. I miss driving enemies to extinction from DS2 sometimes :v:
Yet you need 60 for DLC RINGED CITY
if you're gonna 1-hand yeah, but why would you ever 1-hand a great hammer :v
if you're gonna 1-hand yeah, but why would you ever 1-hand a great hammer :v
1 hand is to look cool.
But i can't equip a weapon knowing i don't meet a requirement for 1 handed. I like switching hands. Either way it's not 70 strenght like Smelter Hammer
A lore question about Bloodborne I need to finally finish the puzzle.
Were the Ptumerians an ancient congregation of humans who were heavily mutated by their constant contacts with the Old Blood or were they an alien race of sort who just happened to have lived near the future city of Yharnam and were inbred among the Great Ones from the very beginning?
Imo, humans.
