The difference is that's a kusarigama while we're mostly talking of an actual flail weapon. Plus Nioh uses stances and a skill tree in hack 'n slash fashion (devil may cry, ninja gaiden etc) so Dark Souls games would be very limited on what to do.
From what I understand the stances don't mean anything in the game because of the lack of variety in enemies [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] I'd rather have Dark Soul's movesets which are very simple than a game trying to shove as much shit into movesets as possible to the point of making it redundant
From what I understand the stances don't mean anything in the game because of the lack of variety in enemies [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] I'd rather have Dark Soul's movesets which are very simple than a game trying to shove as much shit into movesets as possible to the point of making it redundant
Except, after seeing Bloodborne and the DS3 DLC, i'm so goddamn sure From is trying to make the game flashy but incoroporating flashy moves whille we still have mundane moveset hurts a lot. You probably don't appreciate new and actually game changing mechanics and that's fine but seeing that most of the people pick katana in Dark Souls just because of the running r1 instead of the rest of the moveset is baffling to me. Frayed Blade is probably the only "good" katana since the weapon art is flashy and also useful. (no i'm not excluding Chaos Blade etc but those have the same moveset like Uchigatana etc. Black Blade is the shortest blade and yet it has a cool R2 but same stance and so on) It's the same with Bloodborne and the transform attacks, they felt good and i enjoyed the addition. It gave more in depht combat. But in the end we're all going to press a single button to attack and that is going to work. So the r1 spam memes for example are just pointless since some weapons have better r1 attacks and some have better other properties.
Dark souls 1 had really stupid and dull movesets so yeah anything was an improvement and then dark souls 2 (and therefore 3)had a much broader list of things weapons were able to do, allowing you to be more flexible having 3 stances probably wouldn't change anything, the 3 stance system seems massively redundant especially when Nioh has little variety in enemies, and from what I hear it just kind of adds control-complexity. Though replacing the block button with a stance button could maybe work, then have the special be its own thing. It'd give huge value to 2 handing over just using a shield. Basically lets say 1. Dark souls 2 style duel wielding, where any weapon can be left-handed and powerstanced that way. But also, keep paired weapons as well. I fucking hate how in 1 and 3 when you left hand a sword you use it to block rather than allowing the other attack 2. Instead of blocking (literally never see anyone use this) with a weapon you would take stance. Daggers could be opened up while stanced so that they can parry. 3. Special move stays at it is and we have stance based weapons turned into special move focused ones. [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] I also never use light weapons so r1 spam doesn't work for me a stance modifier on an UGS would at least be sick. [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] I also wish they didn't have so many movesets where you spin around like some fucking asshole
Quickstep WA is the biggest mistake of the whole WA addition. Getting tired of nearly invincible havels with murky hand scythe fishing for backstabs 24/7.

It adds more stuff, if you just go "why would i need that if i can just do that" it will ruin the experience. I totally know the lack of enemy variety is a big downside but looking other than that, it's a fresh and nice experience to have.
I also never use light weapons so r1 spam doesn't work for me
R1 spam not in "i'll just repeteadly mash r1 without break", just as the only attack that you're mostly going to use. It applies to majority of weapons including ultras aside the paired weapons (since you want to use both of them at same time, mostly going to use L1 ) Probably it doesn't help that most of the moveset in games are the same, not even a horizontal normal axe\greataxe unless it's the copy pasted Black Knight Greataxe. So yeah, it's also an excuse to rant that i don't have my powerstanced greathammer\axes
1v1 should be hella easy though when you have 2 painting guardians to back you up. I almost never lose on 1v1's, but ganks are a more 50/50 chance for me. [editline]derp[/editline] I legit unironically waited 2 hours before I was finally summoned as a Darkmoon. And then the host immediately died when I spawned in. :v: Increasing the slot limit to 2 didn't seem to change anything. [editline]derp[/editline] It's a real shame there is no Blue Eye Orb, just to give blue dorks something else to do. As a filthy invader, I'd welcome the extra challenge of getting invaded by blues. That's something I really missed from DS1/2. I can understand why they didn't bring it back, though. Sin doesn't work the same way it did in previous games since invading no longer gives you sin, so the Blue Eye Orb would become pointless.
I actually have a better time as a Spear with 1v2 because one of the phantoms would always get distracted with the painting guardian and I can go at the panicked host with my 1v2 Spear buffs

Forget the glitchy phantoms, what's with the black border? :v: [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] source

Sorcery only run, pestilent mercury is such a good spell. Aldrich is being a bitch though.

[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/pvymcn.mp4[/vid] I waited 2 hours for this. :v:
Vow Of Silence? Or try Twisted Wall to deflect
I completely forgot about vow of silence.. EDIT: 30 faith though
I completely forgot about vow of silence.. EDIT: 30 faith though
Right, it's a dark Miracle.... Twisted Wall is a good anti-arrow shield for Aldritch. http://darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Twisted+Wall+of+Light
[vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/pvymcn.mp4[/vid]
this is why the cat ring is basically the most powerful ring in the game [editline]16th April 2017[/editline] being able to fall unrealistically long ways down and get up is great it also is insanely powerful for quick escapes
The new round map is a fucking shit show for group fights, holy shit. I wish that it was taken out of rotation for the random setting
Also what's the best magic/int infusion now since the buffs?
Probably crystal.
Someone should drop me an un upgraded daemons scar. Ill return the favor. Just started a pyro build
Well spent the last few hours finally returning to 3... and I can easily say the Dancer is the Ornstein and Smough of this game in every way but being two bosses... Just... fucking BRUTAL. I finally learned how to evade the grab, and use the pillars at the room's edge to avoid the deathwhirl, but it was still some of the most head-slamming-into-the-wall gameplay I've ever experienced in Souls. I lost count of attempts, and got so frustrated I kept getting hit by the minor enemies in the run back to the fight. Finally did it though... then opted to go back to Wholnir and check out the area beneath that I completely missed. So that's the Demon Ruins, eh? I'd like to hear the explanation for the layouts of these places being... so entirely changed from what they were. I mean, Anor Londo had differences, but most of it was the same. Whereas, I come across Quelana's body with her caretaker in a place that's geographically different in every way. I know you don't want to outright copy/paste level design, but you also can't have entirely different layouts and expect me to buy it's the same place as before. But I did like seeing just the piles upon piles of Taurus, Capra and Asylum demons strewn all about as corpses, like once the Bed of Chaos died, everything birthed by it slowly faded away. Then went to Dragonslayer Armor. Kinda confused that the two dragons shared a healthbar... but the actual armor fight was pretty fun. Had to equip my lightning-defensive shield for it, but that only took a few attempts. But of course, the fight is tough enough to get into the groove... and then the seadragon fuckers start shooting shit at you. Decided it wasn't quite intense enough, From?
The Dancer truly isn't that difficult if you're cautious enough. She has several attacks with very obvious windup and a reasonably long cooldown. You mostly just hang back and wait until you have a chance to strike, beyond that the fight is just an exorcise in not getting stun-locked in her stupidly long combos.
The dancer's big whirlwind attack is also really easy to dodge. You can just dodge into her a couple of times and the last two big spins she does won't hit you.
I breezed through every boss up to Twin Princes with the strength build, and most within my first attempt. I would feel more proud of this fact if I didn't feel criminally overleveled for everything. Still, I wouldn't trade being able to kill knights so easily for the world (no pun intended). Contrast this with my PvP experience thus far having lost against every invader and almost every undead match. I am of the opinion that if I keep throwing myself at arena matches, I will eventually get better.
Bloodborne pretty fun. Just got smacked down by the Blood Starved Beast, for something that lanky it's tanky as fuuuuuuuuck. Kinda curious, does killing the Cleric Beast actually do anything? All that was after it was a dead end.
does killing the Cleric Beast actually do anything?
lets you buy some new stuff iirc - it's been a while since i played Bloodborne, but i think that's it

Most people won't notice on they're first play through, but the badge that CB drops, allows you buy a key item that lets you skip Old Yharnam entirely and go into the next part of the game. Cleric Beast and BSB are both technically optional, but you have to beat one of them to continue.
Right, it's a dark Miracle.... Twisted Wall is a good anti-arrow shield for Aldritch. Almost had him down with Pestilent Mercury (Yes I love that spell)

Otherwise you have to go through and kill the Blood Starved Beast.

Cause I bought it but haven't found where to use it. I'll prolly kill the beast anyway, I've already adventured all the way down there, might as well get some blood echoes and loot while I'm there.

The key you get from Cleric Beast allows you to open a gate in Cathedral Ward, that is is usually only able to be opened after beating Blood Starved, and skip Old Yharnam entirely.[/sp]
