Wow, I just finished Dark Souls 1 and I can easily say that it's one of my most favorite games ever. I can easily say that fighting these titanic, relentless bosses is the one thing that draws me in the most, and the Artorias DLC definitely got me hooked with the bosses. Finally managing to kill the four lords, then Artorias, the dreaded Kalameet, the wretched Manus, and then going toe to toe with Gwyn, the first Lord of Cinder, in a battle that decided the fate of an entire world. That was a good fucking game, and I'm glad I picked it up on Steam all that time ago. Can't wait to play DkS2!
Can't wait to play DkS2!
I have some bad news
I feel so weird being one of the few people who doesn't dislike Dark Souls 2 even despite some of its flaws.
I feel so weird being one of the few people who doesn't dislike Dark Souls 2 even despite some of its flaws.
Okay, not to tell you you can't like DS2, but holy shit, with how often and how widely DS2 is circlejerked over, are you seriously so self-unaware none of you realize you're not "the few people"?
pretty sure "DS2 is shit lol DS1 best" circlejerk is much bigger though but its ok, DS3 is better than both imo
Yeah, I only ever see people talk about how bad DS2 is and how DS1 was the best game in the series, with the occasional "DS2 was ok". Bloodborne is honestly the best though.
[del]alright bubbers, fightclub at the high wall right now join the discord or whatever or don't just be there [editline]29th April 2017[/editline] password is facepunc, place your signs at the first bonfire (please place them on the stairs/wooden platform) [editline]29th April 2017[/editline] it might be slow to get summoned because the world is constantly full of reds[/del] shit is DEAD
Why do ya' keep kicking me out of the discord server, it hasn't even been 2 months :v:
pretty sure "DS2 is shit lol DS1 best" circlejerk is much bigger though but its ok, DS3 is better than both imo
DaS3 would be so much better without "Super fast combat - lets make Bloodborne on pc" design. What's so good about DeS, DaS and even partially DaS2 is having everything viable. Almost all magic is strong and awesome to use, almost all weapons are amazing in both pvp and pve, and you can't just roll spam like a retard because it takes a huge chunk of stamina.
So I'll be honest, how do you make [sp]Gael's[/sp] Greatsword work for PvP and the weapon arts for PvE?
So I'll be honest, how do you make [sp]Gael's[/sp] Greatsword work for PvP and the weapon arts for PvE?
R1 to weapon art to R1. Use R2 weapon art for chase downs.
I just realized I have entirely forgotten how to beat invaders in Dark Souls 1. Armor actually works, so we're just trading attacks but dealing no real damage.
Dark Souls 2 is the most fun to coop. It's hard to get dragged down by it's flaws when you have a buddy to suffer with you. Watching your friend get knocked flying by an invisible tiger is hilarious. DS1 coop is bad and FromSoftware should feel bad. DS3 is alright to coop.
DS2 gets the best praise because of the golf swing but then it had to be nerfed for no reason. Although, i really wished some UGS in DS3 had the golf swing for his running attack, i miss that.
That doesn't explain blood looking like oil and having whole pallette of brown as the only available hair color.
There's a few other things that I've noticed between the games that don't make sense to me... - Lighting in general seems to be better in Bloodborne, far more atmospheric and stylish. DSIII seems to have a prevalent "yellowish hue" in most areas. - Magic and FX in general look a lot nicer in Bloodborne (compare the Arcane magic in Bloodborne to Dark-Souls III's Sorcery spells.) - Buffed weapons in Bloodborne have really cool looking "trail" effects, Buffed weapons in DSIII don't. - Blood and smoke effects seem to look a lot more polished in BB vs DSIII. - Enemy special effects and death effects look a lot nicer in BB vs DSIII. - Fromsoft apparently forgot what electricity looks like for DSIII despite nailing it flawlessly in Bloodborne. What I find to be strangest is that a lot of people are saying that Fromsoft' "copy-pasted" assets from Bloodborne into Dark-Souls III to save time, but that can't be true... Because if they'd done that, a lot of things in DSIII would look nicer! Personally, I'd have loved to see the same lightning/fire/magic effects in DSIII as we got in BB. Hell, make the "Arcane" spells a brighter shade of blue for Sorcery, change the blue "Bolt" effects from Bloodborne yellow for Lightning, and don't do anything to the already existent fire effects. But instead it's like they took old DSII assets and spruced them up slightly to make the ones in DSIII, instead of using the vastly superior looking (at least in my opinion) effects from Bloodborne.
It took them a patch to make Bleesing Weapon not look like some Magic Weapon + shinies. Also the rock texture is TERRIBLE. Ledo's, Havel's and Boulder spell look like poop. Many things felt so rushed and unpolished

I finally downed Friede, with only a single estus used on phases 1 through 2 and two on phase 3. With around ten people watching me, no less.

I like to think this is more Bandai's doing than FromSoftware. I imagine that since Dark Souls soaring popularity that Namco Bandai wanted to make more and DS2 was more than likely a rush job. It wasn't a "bad" game, but it was obvious that something was left out graphics wise and more time was given for new combat features. Scholar of the First Sin was probably Fromsoftware's apology from the original product and it changed dramatically. DSIII might have been like that, but you'd have to dig really deep to see the work that was missed. I think if they removed the blood splatter effect on player characters the blood problem would be fixed. Then again Dark Souls was not meant to be graphically beautiful like The Witcher 3 or Battlefield 1, but you could see it being a lot better looking than a lot of areas and characters than DS1, no moving mouths aside.
the black blood kinda makes thematically at least for the human and ashen guys
the black blood kinda makes thematically at least for the human and ashen guys
I mean, you could argue that it's not blood but ash But it still looks bad
I thought DS2 had the best praise because of the Ivory King bossfight and the BONE FIST
I remember people invading with the bone fist moveset before the dlc. There was a video of someone named Santa and just used that moveset. I still like calling Bone Fist the "Heihachi fists"
Speaking of fists, going fist weapons only is so much fun in DS2, got the caedacus and dual-wielded them and went nuts. That's what I like about DS2, everything can work.

I made another e̶d̶g̶y̶ ̶a̶r̶t̶h̶o̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶m̶u̶s̶i̶c PvP video! This time showcasing two of my favorite builds and one I thought up at the last minute! The music is "Ruins" by Auir, in case anybody was wondering. Enjoy. EDIT:
But there is the blue colored bloodborne style lightning in [sp]Gael's third phase[/sp]
I noticed that, if I recall correctly, that's the only time we've ever seen "blue" lightning effects in a Dark-Souls game, right? Every other time, including Soul of Cinder's "Storm-call" attack have the bright yellow electricity. And[sp]Gael's fight[/sp]takes place in the distant future of Dark-Souls, right? I think that's what's implied, anyway, given the stat that[sp]Gael[/sp]and the world are both in, as well as the whole[sp]Filianore's rapid aging from young woman to dessicated corpse.[/sp]... Odd that we'd only get the blue lightning right at the end like that... Bloodborne is a sequel to Dark-Souls confirmed.
Okay, so turns out Aldrich is a complete and total bitch against pyromancy... good to know. Since my first run was pure melee, he was kind of a pain in the ass, especially with his arrow storm deal. But given the mage build, I checked his resistances to find he was incredibly resistant to my greatest strength... but weak to fire. So, I buffed my pyromancy flame to the highest level I could and forewent even my rapier, since it's a crystal weapon and would do dick-all damage as a result. Popped on both Witch's Ring and Great Swamp Ring and kept the Sage Ring for speed, and attuned Chaos Vestiges. It was an absolute CURB STOMP. I carved out about 1/7 of his health with every shot, and it's not like he's a flighty target. Only had to refill my FP one time and dodge his tracking arrows for one pass before I let him have the last few shots. I was ready for it to be a pain in the ass, but damn, consider one more boss utterly trivialized by exploiting his weaknesses as hard as possible at range.
Aldritch wrecked the shit out of my knight character until I got mad and 2 handed wolnir's greatsword and just stayed on him the whole time wailing on him
The thing that kinda pisses me off about Aldrich is he totally encourages and aggressive playstyle but his teleport goop hurts you and he spends the latter half of the fight teleporting. Just seems like a bit of a "fuck you" to me.
