That second phase of [sp]Gael[/sp] is screenshot gold, especially when they do *that* move, you know the one.
[sp]When he launches himself in the air for a crossbow+sword combo while lightning's raining down all around you.[/sp]
Don't forget the music [sp]I wasn't expecting the trailer theme to be in the game[/sp]
[sp]Give the Blood of the Dark Soul to the painting woman in the ariandel chappel attic and then you're done.[/sp]
Already did and nothing happened. I'm actually confused by how it just...ends. Surely SOMETHING else must have changed and no one has found it yet. Surely there has to be more than just that.

I hope so too, but it doesn't seem like that. [sp]It almost seemed like we should have been able to go into her painting to get an ending cutscene or something. But nope she's just like "thanks dude cya, END OF SERIES."[/sp]
[sp]I would have been happy with at least a cutscene showing a vision of her new world, and then as the name of the world appears it's just your name and the game ends.[/sp]
[sp]K***ht's World[/sp]
This also brings up another concern. Is it possible to finish The Ringed City DLC first before Ashes of Ariandel? If so, how will they explain getting into the painting [sp]without Gael pulling you in from the scrap?[/sp]

You probably just find the scrap by itself in the same place, or maybe there's a bonfire warp somewhere within TRC
I guess I finished the DLC? I just beat [sp]Gael[/sp] and he was...surprisingly easy. Like Orphan of Kos, but baby mode.
I dunno, i think orphan is a joke when u realize you can backstab/parry him. I must've died at least 40x on ng7 to [sp]Gael[/sp], not even orphan took me that many on ng7.
Oh my FUCK I was so happy when (Ringed City Spoilers all around) [sp]I found out you can permakill the angels.[/sp] Just a heads up, if you see tons of messages with "REVENGE" in them, follow them for IMMENSE JOY!
Also, goddamn (boss spoiler) [sp]Demon Prince[/sp] with shitzillion health.
Apparently I missed [sp]Lapp[/sp] 'cuz I never found him until way after I killed [sp]Gael[/sp]. The moment I heard his voice I instantly knew who it was. Kinda irks me though that he doesn't even acknowledge what happens afterward [sp]when speaking to him in Firelink Shrine[/sp]. Unless the Ringed City takes place in the past or future or something.
I re fought [sp] Gael[/sp] and really phase 1 boils to the dumbest combat. [sp] He just keeps lounging far than me and i need some RNG for him to not just run away for some reason. It's so annoying. Rest of the fight is good. I probably died 4 or 5 more times to phase 1 than rest[/sp]

isn't [sp]firelink shrine in the past and ringed city DLC takes place at the end though?[/sp]
I Just Finished The DLC And Oh Boy [sp]Gael Is The True Hero Here. Risked His Life Knowing He Would Be Corrupted By The Dark Soul But Did It Anyway So People Could Have A Better Life In The New Painting.[/sp]
Also [sp] Did Anyone Else Notice Drangleic Castle Next To Lothric Castle On The Final Level?[/sp]

[sp]If you read the description of the Iron Dragonslayer armour, it heavily implies the Ringed City takes place in the future. It mentions the player character (loosely) defeating the armour and leaving it to rust, but it eventually came back to life after ages and moved to the Ringed City to continue its hunt - so it's likely the reason it was there was actually to kill Midir.[/sp]

[sp]I think it's Anor Londo, you can tell by the buttresses [/sp]
Unless the Ringed City takes place in the past or future or something.
I thought that was apparent by how [sp]everything is either turned to ash or mangled together in the Heap[/sp]
I thought the base ds3 was way to hard but i was in bloodbourne mindset and never blocked plus I'm a pussy who needs to git good, i really want to check out the doc though so i restarted as deprived
so has anyone actually managed to beat the optional boss yet
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
nevermind i beat him
holy fuck that was the most intense boss fight i've fought in any game. my hands are still shaking. i think think that was 16 attempts on ng+. i don't even know how i managed that.
The [sp]Earthen Peak[/sp] nostalgia level has marked the point in the DLC where I'm starting to have troubles.
If the annoying poison gimmick wasn't enough, the area being more open than the previous one make doding [sp]the angelic beings[/sp] after you far harder, to the point I'm currently clueless where I'm supposed to go (and I'll just assume that enemy will despawn at some point, allowing me to collect the loot around more easily)
Imo the optional is so boring to fight.
idk after i understood his pattern and beat him he's now kinda my favourite boss ever
up there with gehrman and [sp]gael[/sp] at least
[editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
he's definitely the best large boss in the series

Only way to get rid of the flying ones is to kill their host.
I actually managed to beat the optional boss. I'd rather swallow glass than do that again, to be honest. NG++ health for the DLC bosses is already super high, and pure dex builds aren't really the DPS machines they used to be
Also, I think I've figured out how to dodge the [sp]overhead fire blast. While you can run to the right, this doesn't always work, but if you wait until it comes to you and dodge left, then you can avoid it[/sp]. Here's a webm to demonstrate
he's definitely the best large boss in the series
That isn't really saying much. Large bosses in the series have always been pretty garbage for one reason or another. [sp]Midir[/sp] in particular feels like all the things that make a boss frustrating rather than fun all rolled into one.

O P I N I O N S
For me Kalameet is #1 dragon boss in souls, while Sinh is obvious #2.
[sp]Midir[/sp] is everything bad a dragon boss can have - bazillin of health, cheap oneshot attacks before NG++, forcing you to chase him 50% of the time because of his charge/jump happy AI and having [sp]second phase[/sp] with more oneshot bullshit because the fight wasn't long enough.
If From won't at least nerf his monstrous hp then he gonna end up as Ancient Dragon v2 - getting killed once and never again.
i had a lot of fun beating him but i totally understand how others didn't
it probably would've been better for everyone if he had 25% less hp but as the final optional challenge boss in the entire dark souls series i feel like i would've been disappointed if i didn't struggle with him like i did
Wow my 1st playthrough of Ringed City was really botched with the lack of npc invaders. [sp] Despite visiting an area near the swamps, i didn't get invaded by Silver Knight Ledo who had a sweet looking greathammer. [/sp]
Ledo has a unique armour set that just didn't get used for some reason, it's entirely completed but just not in the game

Look for the [sp]weird worm people[/sp]. If you kill them the [sp]angels[/sp] go away and don't respawn.
Well, managed to beat[sp]Midir. Last boss I had left.[/sp]
Ended up with no estus and like 1/10th of my life left. Got a lucky stun and visceral to end it.
[sp]Not really fond of how much life it had, though I was in NG+ so he may have had more than usual.[/sp]
I am genuinely surprised to see so much criticism of[sp]Midir[/sp]
I had to change my items up a bit to beat him, but never felt it was too tedious.
[sp]I got myself the Greatsword and some Gold Pine Resin. The vertical nature of its attacks ensured I got hits even if I was right under him. I also had a maxed out estus flask and bonfire. On top of that the added Estus Ring and Ring of Favor gave me more HP and more healing per flask.
I tried my best to always stay near his head for damage and predictability reasons. All said and done was very happy to beat him at lv 62.[/sp]

It's tedious because it has way too much hp and even when you find the pattern it drags the fight too long. Speaking as someone who rocked 66 strenght.
[sp] Hell most of my hits were to the head since i managed to "exploit" at least the tail attack which makes him stand still for some seconds. Fire breath -> tail attack -> hit head then stay underneath to bait fire breath -> repeat until phase 2 which might randomly use the AoE sucking burst and that's it. Roughly 5 minutes[/sp]
