If you attack an armored body part, you can cut it off with a finisher and get an armor blueprint. Still, the game looks too sluggish for my liking, these attack animations are an overkill.
I don't see what's overkill about the attack animations? You just swing the weapon, there's very little fancy shit or over exaggeration. If you mean the finishers you can switch off the kill camera in the options and they just become quick slices.
The game is a lot better than Lords of the Fallen. It's far faster unless you're using one of the giant hammers or the big arm blade.
I tried playing Lords of the Fallen again, but there's no helping it. It's a heap of trash that runs like hot garbage and feels absolutely horrible to play.
I'm liking it a lot better than Lords of the Fallen so far, and it's distancing itself from some of the usual Souls mechanics. While it's not as good as Fromsoft's stuff, I find it fun and it's better than their last entry in almost every way.
I've been having a good time with The Surge. It's not perfect, but a really solid Souls-alike. Only major gripe is that the game could do with a move list, given how weird combos work

See my previous posts on it :v:
I already uninstalled it again.
I tried hard to like Lords of the Fallen, at first it's even pretty fun... But then it all goes to shit after the first boss, I can't stand it. I'll never forget how the prison boss (Warden I think) bugged out and did 360* turns at me when charging, that was a year after the release!

Here's how you play Lords of the Fallen. Equip a staff, charge attack everything. Optional: Regret spending time playing Lords of the Fallen.
Speaking of Not-Dark-Souls, I kinda want to get back into For Honor, but the horrible networking and P2P issues kills it so hard for me.
Anybody tried The Surge yet? I'm still not sure. I watched enough footage\streams but it still feels like a sped up Lords of the Fallen. Those attack animation etc remind me that. Even some enemies.
Might get it if there's a sale on Steam or something. Steam is cheaper too.
Lords of the Fallen is what you get when you look through the eyes of a Souls Player who refuses to drop their shield, has weights on their arms, rolls covered in molasses, and was developed by Bethesda without the bug fixes. I restarted the beginning at least 30 times to perfect not getting hit, but the button reactions are awful.
Jesus game, is it impossible for blue spirit summons to flag that you're in the middle of a midboss fight or something? Because I just got ROYALLY pissed when fighting Midir on the bridge, doing pretty damn well (had to reinforce a lightning infused longsword to do much) and with his health 3/4 down, I get summoned against my will. Then to add insult to injury, my host dies the instant I get there, I get set back in front of a fully-regenerated Midir with my remaining four Estus, and placed right in front of his laser-breath and killed.
That sucks ass, guys. I hear people complain about these covenants having little long-term draw or reward for people, and then you run the risk of getting sucked out of a critical fight. You could argue my fault for having the covenant on at such a critical moment, but damn it, I don't choose to idle in area in hopes I'll get summoned. I play normally until it happens on its own, and I don't think that's unreasonable. If it doesn't pull this shit for actual boss fights, it's not a stretch to extend that to enemies like these with expansive health bars.
If it did that you would have even less chance to get summoned with it.
Invasions and anti invasion summoning should have been handled with a single colorless eye orb. Just put on your preferred covenant item (in this case blue sentinels), activate your orb, and it searches for worlds where your assistance is needed.
I'm not sure if anyone's heard of this guy, but he has some good lore theories outside of Vaati.
Sounds like a white laurence fishburne.
I also got around to [sp]giving the eyes to the Firekeeper.[/sp] The theories don't make this seem so bad, but man from the character's point of view is painful. I wanna give the Firekeeper a hug after hearing her dialogue.
Well, rebinding the controls can be a bit of a pain, sure. And making the godaweful DS1 port playable sure wasn't fun.
But after everything's all set up? I'd say that there's some things that are actively better with a M&K layout. Jumping, for instance. Aiming bows/spells, free-aiming, ect...
These games seriously don't need to have the reputation of "best played with controller" because they function perfectly well with an M&K layout. The only problem is that nobody taught Fromsoft how to bind their default keys properly and they never bothered to implement proper PC prompts.
this. I played 700 hours of dark souls 1 with the keyboard and mouse, without any "fix" mods either. I never had problems
That sounds like torture. DS1 mouse camera only has two speeds, 0 and max.
[editline]16th May 2017[/editline]
I was able to beat ds1 with m+kb only after the first mouse mod came out.
with unmodded mouse movement in 1, the less you move the mouse, the more responsive the camera is. if you move your mouse all the way across your mousepad, the camera turns sluggishly, but little movements give a faster response
Apparently the same guy has been fighting and dying at Knight Slayer Tsorig for about 10 times now
I checked all of the bloodstains out of curiosity, and they were all from some naked guy with a pointy hat and katana :v:

That's just every Souls player.
Tsorig's easy
Not to that poor, determined soul, he isn't

That's pretty much how I ended up playing, I put on light armor for a modicum of mobility and used a staff, but the instant you get to that second boss nearly every enemy you fight blocks permanently and has perfect tracking so you can't even circle them.
You spend most of the game on a merry go round with the same enemies, waiting for them to lower their shield for half a second and getting blasted across the room when they do as little as nudge you.
My favourite souls-like so far has got to be Necropolis. It is too bad that the game was abandoned and unfinished, I cannot recommend it to anyone unless it's discounted by at least 75%. It is, however, a memorable experience with an amazing artstyle, fun co-op and quite decent random generation.

I'm still disappointed that game turned out poorly with how strong the art style is, and the fact that I was hoping we'd get a good indie souls-like.
salt & sanctuary for best souls-like game 20xx
the best souls-like is slashy souls obv :vs:

It really could have been great with more content and some fixes, too bad the developers didn't bother to advertise it in any way and then just gave up when the initial sales were bad. I'll think twice before buying anything from Harebrained Schemes again, they won't even fix simple stuff like an achievement that doesn't trigger (a player had to make a patch for it).
I still favor Salt & Sanctuary, to be honest, but mostly for the gorgeous art direction and setting

That's weird because Shadowrun is top notch and they keep releasing free patches that upgrade them to the director's cut or extended edition.
Fuck me, I can't take six steps in the ringed city without the game completely crashing and freezing my computer... Anyone else having a problem like that?

Maybe it was their B-team :v:
