I can't tell if I'm just bad or w/e, but a lot of enemies sometimes use a flurry of attacks and just stunlock me from full health to dead in a half second
that plus the hitboxes not letting me hit enemies even when i'm literally pressed up against them and the added health everything has is making me suffer
as a person who built around this my suggestion is to stop using lock on and ensure you have high adaptability and powerstance your caestuses, use that sweet l1.

i try to go without lockon, but it's hard due to using the [sp]steam controller[/sp]
I have an Xbone coming in the mail though so that problem will solve itself :v:
my ADP is 25 right now, iirc that's the highest before diminishing returns set in, though I don't know if that changed in SotFS. Haven't played 2 since before the last DLC came out.
What's with all the new petrified statues anyway? I don't really understand why they're so much more common in this version, at least a few I've seen seem to be literally just a stationary enemy and using a branch would just make my life marginally more irritating.
also, does anyone else have a weird obsession with always picking the deprived class?

Also don't forget about the Stone ring, after getting this ring you'll enjoy poise-stunlocking enemies to death.
Trying to 100% the game, I decided to get the multiplayer stuff done ASAP. People keep running into the Great Hollow and getting themselves killed.
This is how people become hollow. Just let me kill it you idiots.
Oh wow... so I've found Pontiff's OTHER weakness... Greatshields.
No lie, rocking the Dragonslayer Greatshield (and three NPC phantoms, admittedly) it was still TRIVIAL to fight Pontiff with a strength build.
With the build itself, he doesn't seem to hit NEARLY as hard because of your natural defense from buffing strength, and with a proper greatshield his combos are actually COMPLETELY takeable because your stability turns his vicious slashes into ticks on your meter. Combine all that with hyperarmor, so you trade damage and don't stagger from his hits, and even with the larger health pool from THREE freaking PHANTOMS, he still dies steadily.
It's amazing, it's like you don't feel ANYTHING he does to you. Even last time with my overleveled pyromancer, I had to hope I could consistency land parries to finish him. This time I offed Sully in one try.
And Greirat is home safe from his travels! Bonus!
Actually, I'm amazed at how much more there is to learn at every playthrough. I actually never bothered sending Greirat because of some advice I got, telling me it would be a random chance he'd die each time you did. I didn't realize it WASN'T random, and not only could you control the conditions, but his shop stock got a BUNCH of new shit from this.
I used to think before that things like exploding bolts or greatarrows or lightning urns either required grinding enemy drops or had a finite amount per playthrough. Being able to just BUY them in unlimited quantities sounds SO much more fun, especially given things I've seen in invasion videos.
Actually, this is something I've wondered a while: what items in DS3 ARE completely finite?
Disregarding plot-relevant items and boss weapons, soul items and titanite slabs... what consumeable items can you either ONLY obtain by grinding, or only appear a limited few times per playthrough?
I've always wondered, and I've seen nothing to this effect online, but it's a question worth asking, in case you REALLY want to save something for an important use down the line, or should stop hording useful items because you can always just buy more down the line.
Oh, also, was extremely satisfying to bust each of Wholnir's bracelets in one hit with my club... I always thought those things required a certain number of hits.

I beat Sulyvahn easily using Yhorms greatshield, there pretty much Ideal for any boss fight
Using a shield or parrying against Sully makes you miss out on a pretty great boss battle.
Or on any boss really imo.
Why do people hate the twin ugs? They do really 'meh' damage.
It's not really the damage, it's the stunlock and the stamina to keep swinging until you're dead. My experience is that good armor can negate this by dodging the swings and enough defense to keep you alive if you get caught.

Oh Jesus, okay stop. You're entering "no-hit-run" self-imposed handicap territory.
I've paid my dues with Pontiff solo. I've melee-solo'd all of them in fact. Well okay, not the DLC bosses since I did them with my previous Pyromancer character, but still. Really sick of everyone going-fully two-handed and just telling me to "take" any shots I can't dodge. I'm sorry we can't all have bionic reflexes.
Look, I roll. I could roll well enough to finish off the Fume Knight naked. I roll so often sometimes I forget blocking might be a good idea against certain enemies.
I get worked up enough playing this game normally, I'd be castrated in my sleep if I started hobbling myself by fighting enemies the hardest way possible.
Also, DeVotchKa? If you've got something to say, say it to my FACE instead of randomly dropping a box on my post apropos of nothing. I'm glad no matter how positive my post, some dickhead can be offended by it and shoot me the bird for no apparent reason.

Except I hate spamming the roll button because the fucker has too much stamina in his combos and I'd get rekt if I made a mistake

I think parrying is the most satisfying thing to do in these games, so I'll never not do it when I can. If only I could pull off a single parry ever in PvP...

Just play the game the way you want, dude. You come off as really insecure by getting so offended and defensive so quickly. This is one of the key things about the souls series, that you can choose to don a greatshield and summon 3 guys, or you can drop the shield and armor and dance around like a fool - you can just do things whichever way is the most satisfying for you.
I bought a PS4 Pro to play Bloodborne. I like the cane.

Agreed... I can't really see it as a crutch, when pulling it off consistently is probably one of the biggest marks of skill in the series, depending on the enemy. The guys in PVP that just run up to someone and DO it before you even see a windup... it's that sort of thing that makes some players seem like utter GODS at the game.

Well I dunno, maybe I am. I love the feeling of progressing through the game with some measure of success, and getting better, of being able to manage an area unscathed.
Then some dickhead invades me and I get absolutely CRUSHED, and there comes this sinking feeling of failure and inadequacy. I try everything I can think of, but without help, one on one, I never stand a chance against a real human player.
So yeah, you do start to feel insecure when you talk about a good or interesting experience, and some guy tuts at you and says, "well, you scraped by with your plebeian PVE abilities, but it won't ever REALLY count until you've beaten them with bare fists, while wearing the calamity ring and de-equipping your estus flask. It really IS the only way to play it..."
I mean... you see how that sorta hurts? How it feels like it highlights your own inability to compete, and makes you feel inferior as a player? Like you're just barred from this higher aspect of the game you just can't wrap your head around, and everyone needs to constantly remind you of it?
Yeah, I'm sorry, it's a sore spot. Because I love these games, and I hate that I just can't master it like everyone else apparently can...

Honestly, the whole point of Dark-Souls is to enjoy yourself. Yeah, there are those crazy folk who can parry everything even on laggy ass international server connections, and weirdos who do no damage, no dodge, no parry, fist only, dragon form runs. But at the end of the day, the best way to play the game is to play it the way you enjoy most.
I played my first NG cycle of DSIII with my boyfriend, co-oping through every single section that we could manage. Then, we 100%'d the game together. For all the ways that the Souls' playerbase sneers at summoning allies, and the whole "if you don't beat the boss solo, you're bad at the game!" mindset, I'll tell ya this: Nothing beats playing through a new Souls' game with your lover in tow.
I summon people all the time, even for bosses I know I can beat solo. Why? Because it's more fun that way. I'm terrible at parrying (in DSIII, was fine at it in the first two) but I still ran a Buckler/Rapier mage character just recently, and had a blast doing it. I'm no good at combo chaining, I tend to get hit by really obvious attacks all the time and my connection has a habit of bugging out and screwing me over more often than I can count. I spend most of my time trying to think up weird, wacky and unusual builds, and 90% of them are hot garbage that couldn't fight off even a predictable as hell newbie.
But you know what? That's all fine, because as long as I'm enjoying myself, that's all that matters.
I don't need to "prove" anything to anybody, none of us do. At the end of the day, we're all just a bunch of nerds playing a video game. And here's the thing: The longer you play, the better you get. Simple as that.
My very first Dark-Souls experience was DSII, back in 2015. And good golly I was terrible at it. Now, I'm far from an expert on the game these days (unless you count useless Lore tidbits) but I can usually hold my own in PvP and PvE. I've solo'd most of the DSIII bosses by now, and I just happened upon a weird and unique build that actually functions well in PvP. But that didn't come overnight. I've been playing these games for two solid years now and I don't expect I'll stop any time soon. And every day I play, I get better at them.
Play the way that works for you. The only kinds of people who get all judgemental about how other people enjoy video games are sad, petty idiots who can't validate their own enjoyment without shitting on somebody else's. Their opinions aren't worth jack'.

Man, Millwood Battle Axe is soooo good for low-level/ mid-level PvP, it hits harder than most UGS.

Look at that shit. Disgusting. And it's not even fully upgraded either.
Yeah man, Milwood is nuts, it's one of my go-to one-handed weapons second only to my Broadsword.

I'm surprised this is the first hacker I've seen in this run

This is why i love\hate that battle axe. A pay to win battle axe that gives you no reason to use other axes.

Those who search for the fire for it's warmth have not yet even tried the warmth the abyss gives us.
Fear not the dark my friend.

Every time I get to the lower part of Blighttown I ask myself. Quelana of Izalith or Maneater Mildred?
Quelaag for that booty.
