I am genuinely surprised to see so much criticism of[sp]Midir[/sp] I had to change my items up a bit to beat him, but never felt it was too tedious. [sp]I got myself the Greatsword and some Gold Pine Resin. The vertical nature of its attacks ensured I got hits even if I was right under him. I also had a maxed out estus flask and bonfire. On top of that the added Estus Ring and Ring of Favor gave me more HP and more healing per flask. I tried my best to always stay near his head for damage and predictability reasons. All said and done was very happy to beat him at lv 62.[/sp]
I still found it was a fun fight, just a bit long. [sp] I'd say just up the damage he takes on his limbs or lower his overall health by a little bit.[/sp]
20+ attempts on the boss [sp] Darkeater Midir [/sp] and I believe that I'm done with this DLC. I already completed the main bosses and got everything so I just see it as pointless. Overall the Ringed City is down there as one of my least favorites. Their game design philosophy for this one felt like they wanted to give a last final 'fuck you' to everyone and decided that spam and fast-paced attacks was the solution for a game that isn't as speedy as Bloodborne. I don't have the energy or surprisingly, for the first time in my entire Soulsborne experience, the care to even bother with this last optional boss. Just gonna go off to fight Soul of Cinder and wrap up my completion playthrough (I guess it's more like 99% now).
Blue smelter deamon says quit whining.
That's a re-used boss, sure, but it isn't a boss with broad design flaws. That's just them being lazy as hell.
Blue smelter deamon says quit whining.
That's not how you spell "Ancient dragon".
guys stop bullying [sp]midrrerr[/sp]
On the subject of the optional boss [sp]Midir[/sp] [sp]I discovered on my final 17th attempt you can stagger and critical attack him. What I did not expect was for it to practically cleave his massive healthbar by a sixth all on its own. Although I've only managed to stagger him with the shitty little path of fire from the firelink weaponart of all things. Not sure why it worked but I'll take it.[/sp]
Well I got my groove back on and beat up [sp]Gael[/sp] I don't really know why people are finding it THAT hard, I just [sp]changed from UGS to straight sword for my third try and he just kinda fell apart because you never have to take a risk.[/sp] It doesn't take long to understand the moveset, though I did complain earlier about some enemy attacks feeling artificially slow [sp]Gael is fast enough for me that I adjusted very easily and I didn't get hit for the last quarter of health.[/sp] Disappointed. I'm just disappointed and frustrated with the DLC overall, the best things were the items. Gameplay: [sp]Spear of the Church had all fun sucked out when it was my aussie internet vs pretty much anyone else. I changed to offline mode to beat it and as it turns out, the NPC you get actually utilises a bunch of cool gimmicks that I didn't see on my attempts against actual players. IMO the Gladiator dude from Ariandel would have been a better Old Monk stand-in if not for the wolves.[/sp] [sp]I felt like the way to progress was too unclear at times, and at best tedious to reach. The spiral catacombs was just kinda there and used regular skeleton enemies instead of something really new.[/sp] [sp]Does anything even permanently die? The giants respawn, god knows why the fuck since they're a huge nuisance and give rewards on death. Probably the dragonslayer, but I haven't got around to fighting him yet[/sp] [sp]It's all pretty, but I wasn't sure what to expect and thought the Ringed City would be somewhere in the mass of rubble from the Dreg Heap/Kiln. The near pristine city was nice but it got ruined by the sudden swamp.[/sp] [sp]The path between Inner Ring bonfire and the swamp is the worst thing I've ever been through in a souls game. I spent hours on it trying to optimise estus use because I had no idea where to go looking from the entrance to the swamp and wanted to be on the safe side.[/sp] [sp]Midir is dumb and the camera sucks.[/sp] Story: [sp]What's your character motivation? Morbid curiosity? At least Gael asked for help in Ariandel but this just felt like "this is your final assfucking, do you dare enter?" which ruined some immersion.[/sp]
[sp]For the first and only time, I actually liked the swamp area. It doesn't actually slow you down when you move through it, and it's pretty creepy with the bloated fly-men popping up and just staring at you. Also, I don't think it's a swamp: it seems to either be murky water, or straight up liquid humanity. The Harald Legion soldiers that spawn out of it... I don't think they would do that in normal water.[/sp]
In a personal frustration leaving something undone I went back and made some more attempts at the same boss mentioned earlier by my post, [sp] Darkeater Midir [/sp] By the miracle of the fucking gods I managed it on my fifth attempt after using all my estus, my divine blessings, my siegbrau's, lighting urns, and lightning powders. Fucking end me :freakout: I'm still sticking with my original opinion since never before have I had to make 25 to 26 attempts on a boss in a Soulsborne game. The closest to that was Ancient Dragon in DS2 at around 18-19 I believe. [editline]29th March 2017[/editline]
On the subject of the optional boss [sp]Midir[/sp] [sp]I discovered on my final 17th attempt you can stagger and critical attack him. I've said it before, but it took me more attempts to defeat [sp]Midir[/sp] than I'd like to admit. I wouldn't necessarily say he's bad, though. He just requires you to be far more nimble than any other boss, which I feel is fine for one of the last challenging bosses in the entire game. Me beating the boss without even being embered [editline]derp[/editline] I think we can at least all agree it's not as disappointingly trash as a certain Ancient Dragon from DS2. :v:
Is there a soundtrack download for the DLC anywhere? I can't stop listening to [sp]Gael's last two phases[/sp]
Did TRC on my DEX character on NG. Everything is equally spongy as it was on NG+. Thanks to non-existent poise damage on dex weapons I ended up skipping almost every enemy pack. Killed both [sp]Gael[/sp] and [sp]Midir[/sp] on my second attempt. Also unlike in AoA, being Lord of Hollows in TRC does literally nothing. No comments from Yuria and no any other interactions inside the dlc. Well done, From.

You don't even get to explore the ringed city, there's like, two areas that are actually in any part of the city that they spent so much time making.

It's unfortunate, DS3 is the only that did that to me with the DLC.
I made a video about how to be complete cancerous trash in the DLC. Spoilers in the video:
[sp]I can't help but be disappointed that reformed Patches isn't a summon for the final boss of the series after you complete the Amnesiac Lapp line. Imagine how funny that'd be.[/sp]
Look for the [sp]weird worm people[/sp]. If you kill them the [sp]angels[/sp] go away and don't respawn.
In the first area I was on the assumption that the falling tower killed him for me at random
So with [sp]Midir[/sp]dead that makes all the bosses in DS3 defeated. Really enjoyed the game and the dlcs. [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/88225128352158841/2331099989A0D59295B094853B200DDF3D7BE956/[/t] Now it's time to do a STR playthrough :flex:
[sp]I think it's Anor Londo, you can tell by the buttresses [/sp] [sp] Me And A Friend Of Mine Thought So To So We Looked At A Picture Of Anor Londo And Drangleic. The Buttresses And The Broken Building Structure Looked Closer To Drangleic To Us Since Anor Londo Looked Mostly Intact. But I Think It Would Make Sense That It Is Anor Since lothric And Londo Are Not Far From Each other [/sp]

After beating that encounter, I can't decide if the [sp]Twin Demons are[/sp] a good boss fight or not. Especially since I'm told the DLC bosses get more resilient from here. I understand that it's a sort of beef gate for the rest of the Ringed City, but [sp]dual boss fights don't sit well with me since the golden age of Ornstein and Smough[/sp]. The situation gets worse in the second phase, as you are tasked [sp]to defeat a single boss, yes, but said boss has literal FUCKTONS OF HEALTH (and I'm merely on NG) and likes to move around a lot as he attacks you[/sp]. The whole fight drags far longer than it should, to the point it starts to get boring, althought the sound design is good and the boss' apparel is ok, I guess. I used the provided NPC because: 1) I can only assume it's the only way to progress in his questline. 2) Given the damage he inflicts on an average to the boss, he may as well be swinging a banana at it, so you can't claim he makes the encounter easier [editline]Today[/editline] Come to think of it, the first boss of the DLC is LITERALLY [sp]Ornstein and Smough[/sp]
Is it possible to still do Lapps questline even if you've beaten all the bosses? I only ran into him twice.
Is it possible to still do Lapps questline even if you've beaten all the bosses? I only ran into him twice.
Yeah, I didn't even know he existed until after I already killed [sp]Gael[/sp]. You can just run back and continue his questline. [sp]He jumps from Dreg Heap, to Earthen Peak, then to the balcony in the Ringed City Inner Wall, to the swamp outside the inner wall, and then lastly the Shared Grave.[/sp]
Why do you capitalize every word?
Sorry Its A Habit I Got From High School And It Doesn't Feel Right To Me If I Dont :/ I Also Wright The Same Way. I Do Try To Type Normally Sometimes.
I can't find Lapp at the third location, I know I definitely met him at the second cuz he gave me a slab. It may be bugged since I also didn't get Ledo's invasion so I missed out on the hammer.
Sorry Its A Habit I Got From High School And It Doesn't Feel Right To Me If I Dont :/ I Also Wright The Same Way.
That seems like it makes typing take more effort and time than it should. Also why would a school teach you to type/write like that? :v:
I don't think they taught that way, just something he picked up. I've had several friends do it too. Also, y'all think [sp]Gael[/sp] has a lot of health solo? Try fighting him with three phantoms, like what i just got summoned into. By the time he got to phase 2, we'd done enough damage that i'll reckon it would have killed him solo. It's also WAY harder of a fight, harder to see his telegraphs and his AoE is much more threatening since his moves are more erratic from bouncing between us.

Even solo [sp]Gael and Midir[/sp] have a shitload of health but [sp]Satan[/sp] felt fine to me.
