It's almost like he's not played either game to know they are wildly different in execution.

because 2 games cant have the same type of idea, and its being put on a platform anyone can enjoye
I can see the similarities between the two games but they're not in direct comptetition due to the fact one is an exclusive mobile title while the other is PC release only.
So that makes an unfunny comic's punchline completely meaningless too.
To be honest, when I first played Game Dev Tycoon it really felt like a complete rip off from Game Dev Story in terms of mechanics and gameplay. Only thing I found different was the art style. Both had these orbs, both had frequent console releases (which were nearly identical as well), different stages, same kind of staff learning/development etc. Only thing I see different is the later stages of the game when R&D and Hardware thing becomes available. Other than that, it really feels like I'm playing Game Dev Story.
GDS is down to luck. This isn't, it's more in depth.

Oh, didn't know that. However, on the outside it still feels like the same game.

Pff. Luck? It doesn't even have any difficulty.
Also to the guy who said console releases are nearly the same. I wonder why (They're released like real consoles were with some skipped out.)
I mean yeah on the outside they're similar, but the nuances make them quite different. There's only so much you can change in the same genre when it's also the same type. Like, dragon age is literally kotor with a reskin; Nobody is bitching at that. Point is the games are very very similar; yes. But only idiots would say this was made only to rip off an already very niche title that didn't sell much. It's not like game dev story sold 10 million copies.
And even if they were identical, I'd still be glad to have a Game Dev Story clone on Windows. I hate having to load up my cheap droid phone which chugs just to play that game.

This pleases me.
GDT gets a review in a free danish newspaper.

a snippet reads:

"The idea is nothing new - it is greatly outright copied from the successful iOS game 'Game Dev Story', which was published some years ago - but that does not prevent this small business game to be cozy and addictive"

It's like I'm semi face-palming at the moment ...
And it thereafter reads: You never know what'll be a hit, as the Reviewers and users are completely unaccountable.

Metric system
I always use videogamena.me when making new games. :v:

I use some popular game names and changing their core to either something ridiculous or the same it is irl. For example my FARMA 0.1A was a huge fucking hit on PCs, being a text-based military shooter. :v:
I play this game for moments like that.
So far i've made games like "Dracula Techno Train", "Ebony Death Hospital", "Trampoline Slam" and "Nuclear Axe Munchers".
i'd really like to be able to choose how long to develop my game for. spending a lot of time on a really hyped game would really rake in a lot of cash.
also dlc's and after release content. (unless that's already in and i just haven't reached it yet)

What are the blue sales? when can i start to research that?

Blue sales are console sales, you can research it in the R&D when you first get it, and you can make a console once you have a technology specialist.

Also, this is my best selling game.

Game Dev Story was hardly the first of its kind either. Game Tycoon beats it in terms of release date , so market we created? Give me a break.
Ok I'm really struggling in the office level, my best selling game is an 8, I just can't seem to get a hit.
Just got a score of 9 on "Jihad Simulator". 2.5M in profit.
Spent too much on a game, went bankrupt. Now I have to start 8 years back from the last decent save.

Jesus christ.
My ISP normally posts OK reviews, I like that they don't have "ratings". But jesus this is the worst review for anything I have ever read ever.

That review is pathetic.
Game Dev Story has been released on mobiles almost 3 fucking years ago. And now because they didn't bother making a PC version and instead some other company decided to make a management game that uses the same setting some reviewers get butthurt about that? Play the game for more than 5 minutes and you'll notice the differences between the two.

Game Dev Story does have a PC version (it was released all the way back in 1997) but it's japanese-only
