Still no Windows 7 demo then?
Not sure, but the Steam Greenlight page says:

Release date: End of April 2013

Not sure if they edited it in, or if it passed the Greenlight process, but I imagine there'll be a W7 demo up once the game's released on the platform.
Windows 7 and Mac demos are available at http://www.greenheartgames.com/game-dev-tycoon-downloads/
Linux version apparently coming soon.
Oh i am totally gonna buy it
Also, if you've bought it on W8, you may be able to get a Steam key if/when it passes through Greenlight

Also, as of early March, it's "57% on the way to the top 100 " on Greenlight. Anybody know how well a game has to be received to be accepted?
Oh man, I definitely need to buy this.
Have anyone in this thread been over an estimated release date for the full game on Win7?

It seems like they're waiting to see it pass onto Steam Greenlight. I've seen the devs talk on their forums about selling it through their site in addition to Steam, but they haven't mentioned a date or timeframe to look forward to.

So basically, it can take up to a whole damn year?

I asked about this on the Greenlight forums, and they said:
"Yes, we do plan to give steam keys to those who purchased the game prior to us releasing on steam.
Still a few quirks to sort out for the full game but should be there at the end of this month :)"
Played demo, more fun than game dev story, maybe a bit too complex at first, as soon as i researched custom engine everything went crazy

And then ... *COCKBLOCK*
I made a game a year or two after the NES came out, and it sold 300000 copies and put me to 2 millions, getting 4 10s from reviewers.
A game made by some guy in his garage.

So you made Populous?
So basically, it can take up to a whole damn year?
Possibly, though I doubt it'll be that long. The game only came out first for W8 back in December, and then they were claiming they didn't have plans for a W7 version. Three months later, and there's already a demo of it for Windows and Mac.
I'd like to think if it seems like it won't pass through Greenlight, then they'll just release it through their own site instead.

Strangely enough the exact same thing happened to me, but with the GameBoy.
Fffffuck me, i wanna play the full game so badly! I need a good management game to pass time with!
This game is awesome, but pretty hard at first to a beginner [such as me.]
Looks like Windows, Linux, and Mac versions may be coming sooner than we thought.

Really cool. I barely played Game Dev Story though.

Playing the demo right now. This game has a really good feel. It's simple, smooth and definitely 2013ish. I already love it.

Whenever I try the demo all I get is a blank screen.

Keep at it with PC releases until you make a hit. Those can net you a couple million if you get lucky enough (at least that early in the game).
I've updated the OP with a spreadsheet listing off some good topic/genre combinations, if you care to take a look and make things a bit easier.

If you're not too picky about taking a shortcut, take a look at this:
