Finished the lite version with 5M profits, had a game that sold 500k+, got the Cult Status Achievement and had two games with 3 10's and one 9. So either this game is way too easy or i got seriously luck. Still, it's so damn fun.
Okay guys, I mailed the support and I got to purchase the game for Windows 7 via paypal. Game works really good! I made a garbage game and surprisingly it sold for $2.5M. Getting 3x 10/10 and a 9/10 is just lovely <3 All my games I put much money on gives me 7-8, still okay though. I lost at year 9, hope the game isn't too easy to finish!
From my experience, if you get a hit game within your first 5 years or so, later on is so much easier provided you manage yourself well. If you don't, it seems like there's a bit of catch up, which can border on the impossible, to try and get money to buy licenses and upgrade your engines to have the newest features. Though, if you'd like a challenge, aim for publisher deals. Depending on which you pick, you can definitely hurt yourself by releasing a lackluster game.
Does anyone have the slightest idea of where savegames gets stored on Win7 systems? It's nothing like where they are located on Win8 unfortunatly
I don't have the full version, but with the demo on Vista, it made a folder at C:/Users/Username/AppData/Local. Try looking there? [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Yep, under the Local folder is a Game Dev Tycoon DEMO folder (I assume the full version will lack the "DEMO" in the folder name). Go inside Local Storage, and you'll find the saves. Fun fact, you can open them with a word editor and tweak things around. Stars for your workers, research points, cash, and even what you have researched/unlocked if you know what to edit.

Back up your save before you try and edit. It'd be dumb if the full game was like this, but if you try and edit the demo, it'll break the save (the game won't even detect it).

I only could find one savegame to edit, despite having saved twice. So meh. I'm still trying to figure out if i can do anything to change something like cash using CheatEngine. But there's THREE damn executables running at the same time, and having tried, 4bytes, double and float, there's nothing to be found!
No clue. You could try asking on their forums, but I'm willing to bet they changed it as they don't want anybody cheating their saves.
I really dont understand how the sliders work on each design phase. the spreadsheet made it worse by adding numbers and letters without explaining them
Each slider represents various aspects of the process, with the bar on the bottom showing how much time is spent on each. For RPG games, you'd focus more on Story/Quests, Dialogues, World Design, and Level Design, while action games will have more of an emphasis on Gameplay and Graphics. Sports tend to focus more on Engine, AI, Gameplay, and Graphics. There's some tips on their forums (http://forum.greenheartgames.com/t/anyone-have-a-tip-for-slide-bar-in-each-genre/130/4). You'll have to play around with them yourself to figure it all out. I also found this on their wiki page, it's incomplete, but it still should be of help:
Action: Engine, Gameplay, AI, Graphics, Sound Adventure: Story, World Design, Graphics, Sound, Level Design RPG: Story, Dialogue, Level Design, and World Design. Strategy: Engine, AI, Gameplay(?) (Requires revision. Please test and fix these results!) Simulation: Engine, Gameplay(?), AI, World Design (Requires revision. Please test and fix these results!) Casual: Gameplay, Level Design, Graphic, Sound
http://gamedevtycoon.wikia.com/wiki/Game_Combinations The numbers on the spreadsheet for each slider represents how much a team member needs to specialize in that field. It also gives a good idea as to what skills a team member should have when assigned to that element. Early on, these numbers won't matter as much, at least until you get out of the garage and start working on Medium sized games with team members. Later on though, when you're assigning your team members to each of the fields, keep in mind that gameplay has more of a leaning on Design than Technology, Engine is vice-versa, while Graphics and Sound are more even, and put team members with those skills to work on those elements.
Oh, well i can only play the demo till the games on steam so i guess its just about combos then
Started playing again and I managed to get a hit MMO on the market. I feel like Blizzard now, I can milk the MMO as much as I want and nobody cares and make a lot of money. I went from being a company with about 500 million. Suddenly I'm a 4billion dollar company raking in billions each expansion. :v:

Apparently in the demo I made a game that was so good people did NOT want a sequel. Made a Fantasy RPG around Y2 M2, made other games, made sequel to the former at Y4 M5 and it got bad reviews because apparently it was too soon. God damn :v:
[t]http://puu.sh/2HWA2.jpg[/t] heheehehe
How do I make games with consistently good ratings? Like I'll make a game with better stats than my previous game but it'll get like 4-5 ratings while the previous game got like 9s
I'm really still dying to know if anything can be done with CE.
developer here: @Flarey: did you get that much money by normal gameplay or did you edit the save game? Just curious because no one should be that rich :-D If it was normal gameplay it would be helpful if you could send me your save files to support@greenheartgames.com To everyone who is waiting for the game: At the moment it looks like we'll open the Store some time tomorrow. We just have one bug to fix. Patrick
So let me get this straight: the Win7 version will be coming out tomorrow?!
So let me get this straight: the Win7 version will be coming out tomorrow?!
I'm gonna give this to you straight: Yes
I'm gonna give this to you straight: Yes
Now a curvy question, will I be able to use my W8 version to play on W7 tomorrow?
I'm gonna give this to you straight: Yes
Hell. yes.

Welp, I did brilliantly in the demo but now when I have the actual full game I'm tanking like crazy. Maybe I should research marketing earlier and stop making engines with minor iterations.
Game dev story was awesome, I think I'll have to get this :) [editline]27th April 2013[/editline] I played the demo of this, it was fucking awesome. I'm really looking forward to the full game being released, hopefully it'll get green lit on steam soon :D.
I edited the savegame you guys should probs. encrypt the info :p
imo, i could really do great without encrypted savegames. It's not because i have any intentions of hassling my way into highscore lists, i honestly couldn't give less about that kind of stuff. But being a dirty little cheater is always how i have played singleplayer games, and thats always how i have enjoyed the most of them. Not everyone of them, but some! I REALLY want to figure out how to tamper with the savegames of the Win7 system. :v:
I wouldn't mind the ability to edit all the stuff because I've played Game Dev Story SO much that I feel like it'd be fun to get a little "boost" here :v:
