Dean was a horrible lead for this game. And its still gonna be 2 DIFFERENT TEAMS working on the console port and PC port, so no dumping 2 huge updates and leaving the PC port to work on the console one. That is just a load of bs. I highly doubt that they will dump DayZ as a project, both Hicks and Eugen are extremly passionte about DayZ.
When we finally get to host our own servers and/or play singleplayer, DayZ will explode in popularity because the mod community will be drawn back to it. first mod I expect to see, after ported maps from A2 is for no items on your person to take damage, everything is pristine, always.
On one hand I'm excited for mods and on the other hand I'm afraid it'll be "spawn with ak 100 trucks 24/7 day all pristine items"
I dont see how single player would work in any way.
I dont see how single player would work in any way.
I would assume it's off the hive and basically be just the same as wandering a server with no other players. It sounds like singleplayer is being done primarily for mod testing anyway. Yeah Im talking from a gameplay perspective. Even without any other players in the world, you would literally be walking around aimlessly for no reason. Atleast with multiplayer you try and get better resources than other players and stay alive.
I dont see how single player would work in any way.
survive as long as you can on your own. hopefully bandits, survivors and factions will be in as well, and if not mods would probably do that.
Oh man I still can't forget DayZ mod's PVE servers. It was like: "Oh look, I've found decorated lada." And then 4 bots pops out of it and shoot you down. Ah, the memories.
Have they fixed that issue where zombies could go through walls? I'm still salty from that.
Have they fixed that issue where zombies could go through walls? I'm still salty from that.
Well, most of the time they run around the walls, not through them.
Have they fixed that issue where zombies could go through walls? I'm still salty from that.
It's a lot rarer for that to happen now. But zombies can now spawn in houses so don't be surprised if you find one when looting.
I dont see how single player would work in any way.
well for a start literally the same thing minus other players although that could then be expanded, SP gives many opportunities, honestly it could end up working better than multiplayer
Singleplayer will be great to find new additions and try out things without disturbance while at a plus having more zombies and better general performance.
Singleplayer will be great to find new additions and try out things without disturbance while at a plus having more zombies and better general performance.
not only that though Maybe a simulation of other players, or bands of bandits? It can't be that hard to have NPC's that basically just try to get food and loot through some sort of profile of things they want. Or have bands of bandits move from city to city once they can't find any more food in one place, shit like that. Imagine the Lone wolfing calculation, adventures and risk/reward scenarios that would give.
lol we haven't even made a single page in 2 weeks rip dayz
damn time goes by fast. it's been 3 years from the USPVT days.
i often find myself at the end of the game after like 3-4 hours with a bit of luck as in, full gear, lodsa food, that shit which again is where a singleplayer could shine, give the player more things to do that wouldn't really be possible in multiplayer like for example you kinda do get base building in multiplayer but try as you like it's gonna be iffy, because it can't just stay there indefinitely like it can on a single player game [editline]6th July 2015[/editline] i think its pretty clear that im pretty fucking excited for the singleplayer even though i know it's probably gonna just be a offline standard dayz :v: then again the arma modding community is pretty serious, and there have been fun things done for the mod, like Epoch

Man, haven't played this game in ages. What's the state of it now? Is it worth playing?
I joined some hardcore Reddit RP server a few days ago. Ran into four armed guys on the coast and beat all of them to death with a single hand hatchet.
Man, haven't played this game in ages. What's the state of it now? Is it worth playing?
Stick to the mod.
I just want persistence...
Stick to the mod.
Does anyone actually play the mod anymore? The last time I played the mod must've been like 2012. Oh the memories. The last time I played the standalone game it was kinda shit. I assume it hasn't improved much?

So where is all the good loot now? I know that one guard post building in industrial/military areas has ak's, vests and whatnot Are there any others that you guys know of?
I love that the status update this week was basically just 'nothing is working right now' incredible game
So, it seems that the next major update will bring more vehicles, which is good. And all of them are soviet vehicles, which is also really good. The vehicles are: Lada 4X4 (Niva) - small and agile little off-road car. Pros - High off-road speed. Cons - only 4 seats, small trunk. GAZ-24 (Volga) - this was a high class vehicle used by KGB and Militsiya and was almost not available for common people. Pros - 5 seats, big trunk. Cons - low off-road speed, high fuel consumption, poor handling (we call it "Barge" in Russia). Ikarus 250 or 256 - Hungarian bus that was used all around USSR. Pros - From 40 to 63 seats, huge trunk. Cons - low off-road speed, high fuel consumption, big length (12m).
I hope there will be enough cars for everyone One thing that DayZ has to fundamentally change is it's fucking walking sim aspect
it's completely beyond me why the fucking V3S megatruck was the first vehicle they added to the game, with a 12 month and counting period inbetween adding anything else.
