Is the game being developed by an economically light skeleton crew?

It's been in the making for 1,5 years. That's not a long time for a game but there def should be a lot more progress
How big is the dev team?

This is them. I'm not sure if this is the whole studio or just the DayZ team. I think it's the former.
that's most of the whole studio (not everyone can be on the TB events)
You'd figure there'd be some more progress. I honestly wonder what's going on in their heads about the way things are working
They might as well remove zombies completely at this point. They never worked well and seeing how they progress things now, they never will, if they actually come back at all.
Honestly it feels like whenever a new update comes out, all these new features are toted (and especially new loot!)
And then somehow magically all the loot from the other updates stops spawning ever
like gorka shit and ttsko
new update shit can be found in 15 minutes of gameplay and virtually every good loot item from previous updates takes 6 hours of dedicated hunting to locate.
Currently the best way to get loot is just to remove all items from a building and take it like 50m away and drop it to force the building to spawn new stuff. Did it yesterday with a police station and got like 10 cr75s and 20 mags as well as pistol grip shotguns and stuff like that. Works best with the military tents and stuff like that tho.
Most of the time new loot never spawns cause everyone leaves the lower-end loot like damaged scopes, binoculars, shoes and other crappy things noone will take.
[editline]cunt[/editline]
Oh! and medical scrubs!
If I see medical scrubs in a military loot spawn once more, I think I will scream
Played with a friend, it rained the whole time and he got hypothermia. He died and I ate him so we could be together one last time.
Played for the first time in a while, had a fun time
Found a heli crash and instant access to AUG's and a plate carrier as well as military clothing, but who needs that shit. I picked up the spare UMP and the vest and took my gorgeous flannel wearing ass into Elektro and proceeded to distribute bibles to the locals.
My congregation killed themselves with a landmine shortly after
holy christ i started this game up after months of updates and they somehow managed to make optimization worse than it was before can someone please stop bohemia interactive those absolute madmen
I mean seriously, you can use Mosin for almost everything! Throwing spear, fishing rod, paddle, shovel, can opener, structural support and sometimes even rifle!
Also, motorcycle confirmed for 0.60:

I really hope they add firing from vehicles so I can do some Children of Men shit.

I really thought about driving through cities in a pickup truck, blasting everyone you see while playing "WHERE DA HOOD AT" through mic.
Also I really hope they will allow drawing on the walls with spraypaint, but when someone asked them about they said "Lol no, you all will be drawing dicks everywhere, we know you guys."
Just rolling up and opening fire with a drive-by shooting would be pretty awesome.
Also, apparently they showed off a little bird at TwitchCon, haven't seen any mention of it here yet, even though it was apparently two weeks ago

Honestly, I'm more excited about contaminated territories, because it will add a lot of atmosphere to the game and will make more gear viable.
I'm actually starting to like the idea of contaminated areas a lot - I've always thought this game had a lot in common with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in that it's an open world with a natural progression as you move up/across the map; coastal areas being equivalent Cordon and the NWAF being equivalent to NPP.
A contaminated base at Tisy would really add to this, especially if it's the exclusive spawn for some endgame loot.
Really what I want right now though is better atmosphere. This game just doesn't feel as atmospheric as the mod somehow; the world just feels kind of flat and empty - even before they removed the zombies. I'm waiting patiently for the new ambient sounds and some engine and asset improvements.

Well, Senchii (lead mapper) said that right now he's just shaping up the towns and cities, later he'll add more details like burned down houses, more car models and other signs of past human activity.
I think before they even consider leaving the alpha stage, they should probably make their game run on high-end 2014/2015 hardware without dipping below 30 frames lmfao

Is it still running on the ARMA engine? If so, good luck. That engine is a mess FPS wise.
I'm still upset that they've used that engine
If I remember it's like a mold of the same engine ARMA uses and one they're tinkering with themselves.
Why they haven't focused on any solid optimization for at least ONE big patch is beyond me
I'd honestly pay more attention to DayZ's development and give it more of my benefit of the doubt, but so far they've only proven that the money I spent on upgrading my computer once-upon-a-time to exclusively be able to run new open-world games from the past few years only benefited every game except for DayZ.
It's an outstandingly stupid issue if I can max out GTAV, MGSV, Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, Rust, Borderlands, Mad Max, and never dip below 60 frames. But when I'm in the middle of an open field in DayZ with all of my graphical options set to the lowest possible settings I can get as high as 30 tops. That should just not happen, and DayZ has proven just like other tons of Early Access games that the system is so flawed from the get-go.
I've already told myself I won't spend a dime unless it's been proven time and time again that a product will be sustainable throughout the duration of it's development. Hell the most successful and beautiful EA title I've played was The Long Dark and it does everything I've always wanted in an open-world survival game. The recent releases of SOMA and MGSV having never dipped roughly below 50 fps the entirely of all the hours I put into those games have just struck a proven chord in me that only through procured development of a title will ensure that it gets the proper optimizations necessary. But so far I'm just in the belief that Early Access is just a money grab with little care for community support.
Now I'm ranting whoops.
The weird thing is, I can run DayZ on really low settings and high settings but get exactly the same fps..
Yeah, tell it to me, who runs DayZ on Core2Duo and gt640.
The game has been in dev for a year and a half now? Except for more guns and clothes, I see almost no new features that are worth mentioning, it has game breaking bugs that are there since day 1 and it's still shitly optimized.
And they expect to release it completely for December of this year?

almost 2 years since release (which means closer to 3 for development), they expect it to be finished sometime next year.
I want to see a developer be fucking real with me. It feels so insincere to see DayZ development flounder like this and not see a single acknowledgement of that from a dev. Same with Project Zomboid and I'm sure plenty of other projects I've followed in the past (Cortex Command is the classic example).
