I still love the concept but SA pretty much sucks
If it wasn't for my biased love for the concept SA would be utter shit imo
Their engine choice was their downfall, really. Too buggy, too little new features, and a general complete lack of zombies for most of the games lifespan on most servers makes the whole thing feel unfinished and disappointing as fuck
But I still love it and play it occasionally.
I've been playing Miscreated, which is basically DayZ with better loot mechanics and on the new Cryengine. Runs great for me, and it's a lot like when standalone first came out, except there's base building and working vehicles and overall it's just better at the moment
Talking about the progress of Day Z SA, It really goes slow. I have not been playing this game for a few months and i came back to see what's new, and everything is actually the same. And walking around the game isn't solving me as well. It's kinda is sad that Day z is becoming less interesting this way. The only thing that will break my barrier is that they need put a huge update with lots of fixes, new features. Perhaps then i will give it another chance.
So, I just played it and already found some nasty bugs at certain places. Like getting in objects, or under the floor and stuff. It is horrible.
And no zombies as well. It is really PVP now. And being an freshspawn spawning at elektro, chernogork, is actually all suicide missions if you searching for loot at those cities. Those places are all war zones.
So ill wait again when they have zombies back in the game again.

Hmm, never heard of that one before. Hm thanks! i'm going to check that out!
I think it's fun, but there are some inherent problems. There's supposed to be mutants instead of zombies but there's very few of them and they're kinda slow but if they hit they hit HARD. The gunplay isn't the best either it's a lot of kill trading. I've enjoyed it quite a bit though but it's hard to find servers sometimes
I like romero-esque zombies. But the server mods make them too weak. There should be shitloads, SHITLOADS of slow moving, invincible (except for head) but dismemberable, hard hitting zombies.
Imo zombie parameters should be a thing, that way everyone is happy and we get diversity.
ive never been a person that endorses the single player DayZ experience as a tbing. I feel like the player interaction you can get is just so important to the game play, but if there was something like you said with offline sandbox zombie parameters where I can have hordes of shamblers, I feel like that could be cool.
I know there's some mixed opinions about Project Zomboid, but the loot editing and zombie parameters are a lot of fun to play around with as well as being able to multiply said loot. That could be really cool in a game like DayZ

if singleplayer has ai humans like stalker, it would work perfectly fine.
if singleplayer has ai humans like stalker, it would work perfectly fine.
Well, i think it is fine if you can play offline/Singleplayer or LAN with you're friends. It is actually not a bad idea. I can already see myself not getting killed by random players. I have all the time i want, and to get loot and stuff around the landscape! And no more annoying kids trying to punch you. Or shouting, "Kill me!" in the mic.. :v:

Add some AI that needs to eat, wanders around them map/sits in their bases and goes for looting runs and add some other small single player-esque additions and tweaks and DayZ would work perfectly fine as a singleplayer game.
A singleplayer mod is confirmed already anyway so who knows what we'll see in a few months (years)
What's the name of that DayZ video where a guy (in a really monotone voice) traps some other dude with a beartrap and convinces a passer-by that he did it in self-defense?
Surely something with DanielFromSL
Yeah that was it, thanks man.

That's like the entire draw of the game imo
I can agree with him, player to player interaction, albeit worse, is such a large part of the charm that DayZ has. Mind you, DayZ requires a functioning game where we can output said charm.
Long gone is the slightly more mature Arma 2 community that you saw those cool A2 DayZ robberies and such. Once the community bolstered the interactions became less interesting and has developed into a kill on sight mentality. The whole point of the game originally was that player to player that used to work so well. Now it seems we can't get player to player interaction unless given an incsentive or it occurring naturally, but rarely
I think there needs to be some sort of system that lets you determine whether people are good or bad. Most of the time, I KOS because I simply don't know if I can trust the person. There have been so many occasions where I've trusted someone only to have them shoot me in the back of the head the second I turn around.
Maybe if "bandits" had facepaint on or were always covered in blood. Some sort if indicator that they're a fucking psychopath would really help out player interaction.
The system you're thinking of had a version in Arma 2 DayZ. Bandits received an entirely different uniform upon reaching a certain humanity level. Basically you start of with x humanity, blood bagging or helping other players added humanity. I think killing bandits did as well or might of. After a certain point of positive humanity you would reach hero status and have a new uniform you start off with. On the opposite side was the bandit, killing players gave you negative humanity and killing heroes gave even more negative humanity. After a certain point you were given a pretty cool uniform, although they later patched it so it was the default uniform with just a shemagh covering your head. It was an interesting system some people used as a measure, obviously there were flaws because you could get negative humanity for defending yourself and such but it was one way to combat it.
Oh killing zombies gave a tiny bit of humanity as well.
My 2 friends and I spent way too long on setting up a little camp in the woods. We found like 9 or 10 tents, including the car tent and military tent, all in the same unlooted apartment complex.
We also have 5 or 6 barrels in the camp.
Then we just hoarded food and weapons and what not.

Yay, more vehicles I'll never use because they'll probably be as rare as the original truck and a walkie talkie i'll never use either
Woohoo.....progress
Holy shit this thread is still alive! I haven't been there for like 1,5 months.
Honestly so fucking ashamed of this game they are still adding in content when the game runs like garbage bought this game first day of release and its honestly getting worse as time progresses only way to have more than 30 fps in a city is to play in an empty server, And I always told my friends to just wait and it will get better well it hasn't improved and now the old dayz on arma is ruined by hackers and all the fucking dumb mods people added in If I ever see rocket in the streets I'd fucking kill him and loot my money back prick just took the money and ran to Mount Everest that concludes my rant Fuck you Rocket
I5 3570k - overclocked
GTX 760 - 4 gigs
250 GB Kingston SSD
16 gigs of ram
Should be adequate enough to run this fucking game
Jesus dude, use some punctuation please...
2016 in less than 30 days and bohemia didn't even accomplish their first quarter development goals
