More items I will never find. :V
What about zombies? Are they just ignoring that there's not enough zombies?
I believe they've said that there are as few zombies as there are in the game pretty much because of server-side performance not allowing for many of them to exist, without causing terrible performance.
server optimization is probably going to become a large focus of the developers, after DayZ's engine is implemented fully.
0.6 is coming out pretty soon, it looks as though it may be decent too.

Fingers cross they deliver. If it has half of the stuff mentioned in these videos I'd be pretty happy.
So with the new render engine, the fog and general setting of dayz seems to remind me of stalker quite a lot.
I like; and hope they focus on the atmosphere a bit more now.
Also when the planned contaminated zones will arrive we can go full Stalker. Just imagine getting into this zone and hear someone scream "A NUUUU", turn around and see someone in a gasmask with sawed-off double barrel.
A gasmask with sawed-off double barrel.
Heh, I can already hear the breekie spam down the mic, if they can actually nail the atmosphere the game will feel far less empty; in it's current state the game has a lot of places to see and explore just the lack of any atmosphere pulls you away from that. (Unless it's pissing down with rain mind you)

As long as I don't have -20 FPS I'll be happy

I've been dipping down to 30 on the very northern edge of the map, I hope I don't die and respawn near city, I like my frames up here :c!

0.60 can't come fast enough! Damn it!
I mean it's better, but they're getting excited that it runs at 40fps now? That's really dissapointing, they should be aiming for a solid 60, not a fluctuating fps of 30-80

I'm pretty sure they are actually aiming for good performance as much as they can, but as they've said, this performance is achieved with a fairly early version of the new graphics system, and it's probably going to be optimized much further.
personally, I'm surprised it's achieved with a GTX 760.
Still no better environment sounds. :(
Can't get over hearing birds tweeting 24/7 in the middle of a town full of zombies.
I know it's of the lowest priority but at the same time it's likely the least amount of effort needed to get the game feeling a lot better in its current state.
Have they got an ETA for 0.60 yet?
Nadda, not enough servers for the amount of people that want to play.
Got in after awhile
"no message received."
Gotta love the devs, they put up this build knowing that everyone would jump to it like starving children, then pretty much told them that it was for testing under load. What bullshit. They gave streamers a server to "test under load" and told the community to get fucked pretty much.
It sucks, but you can always set up a macro in autohotkey to smash enter and up your chances of sucessfully joining a server a bit.
Tried yesterday to get in one of them "manually" for like an hour and I had no luck, today I used one and in less than 20 minutes I was playing.
In case any of you guys want it, here it is, might not be pretty since I know fuck all about coding, but it does the job:
toggle := 0
return
sendkey() {
send {enter}
}
f2::
toggle := !toggle
settimer sendkey, % toggle ? "50" : "off"
return
Lol man, they ran out of exp servers to hand out. What fucking difference would one extra server make? Atleast the streamers report bugs and shit unless most of the people that play exp. Stop talking shit please.

the new renderer's visuals can look fairly photorealistic

If only their polygons were up to snuff.
More polygons doesn't mean a better looking game. They're just pretty nasty texture maps.

They hyped this shit up then basically told us "oh we won't put more servers up because it's meant for stress testing, not for playing", then put up a server for their special streamers. I would report bugs but lo and behold their bug tracker has been offline for months.
Managed to squeeze in 20 minutes with 0.6. Then I decided to let someone else have the slot, and I reported my bugs.
The performance is way better. Before, I was averaging less then 14fps with lowest settings in Cherno. With 0.6, I was getting 28-38 on the highest settings, but there was some frequent stuttering which I'm assuming has to do with their new interior occlusion system.
I look forward to when it's stable. I have friends who couldn't play it because of the framerate issues, so hopefully this will bring them back.
I got in an hour or two with the new build and holy shit. It's like playing a whole new game, really. Having a playable framerate just makes the game so much more enjoyable, it's insane.
Plus, they've still added in more content and fixes than that, too. Like the skorpion being 6 slots instead of being the same size as a AK-74u, more car parts, and all sorts of little things. Zombies finally behave correctly (for the most part) too, and it's just altogether a much better experience.
A part of me feels guilty that I've played the new build without reporting any bugs, but out of the bugs I've experienced, all were already reported on, plus most of them were relatively minor things anyway.
The fact that zombies now scale the barriers is insanely cool, really shifting the mood from "Gah, a zombie" to "OHFUCKZOMBIES".
So should I be expecting to get back into dayz with this new patch?
Wondering this aswell. Is it actually playable? Is it decent? Any big new features? Should I bother downloading yet?
Don't bother until its out of experimental or until they open up more servers. Right now it takes like about 20min-1h to get in to a server if you're lucky.
