Aside from main cities and initial water load in my FPS stays stable. Does -dx11 work for this engine?
assuming you want to force the game to use DirectX 11 - developers have said that the new engine only uses DirectX 11 currently (until DirectX 12 is supported), so it doesn't really matter, since there's only one version of DirectX to use.
I hate it when people comment stuff like "4 years and we're only at 0.60."
People seem to think that games can be made in a year, they see a game announced and it's released thinking that the announcement was the company starting work on it. It drives me insane, most games have around a 4-6 year dev cycle. I remember when Rockstar announced they were working on the next GTA game a month or so back and people started losing their minds saying shit like "Oh I can't wait til next year when we get to play the new GTA."
Sure it's annoying that DayZ is still in a poor state but it's to be expected, people just don't seem to understand what an "Alpha Version" means... Early access has made the PC gaming community really toxic towards developers.

additionally, 'proper' development of DayZ started in September of 2013 (according to Brian Hicks), meaning that DayZ hasn't been in development for even 3 years.
if version 1.0 of DayZ is released around September of this year, it will obviously be close to having been developed for exactly 3 years, which I think is acceptable for both a game and a solid engine being developed in the same time span.
It kinda does. As soon as you get close to any amount of buildings the framerate still tanks below 60fps.
I can play at 144fps out in a field but as soon as I get close to a main settlement it hits the deck. Smaller settlements are fine.
People will always find issues with this game. This patch is the biggest step forward for DayZ so far, be happy jesus. And I get like 30-40 FPS in Cherno with a Intel HD Graphics 4000 with some frame drops lol and I am happy as fuck for it. (will be getting a new PC soon though)
Is the new engine for all servers or do I have to go into the experimental servers?
Is the new engine for all servers or do I have to go into the experimental servers?
So far, still only the experimental branch with a pretty limited number of servers.
I have yet to dip below 30fps on max settings with the new render, so that's a huge plus for me. Used to dip to about 18-20fps~ in towns on below low settings (only thing high were the textures :/)
So that's a huge improvement in my opinion.
Also it just looks so damn pretty on max

I wouldn't be able to tell that this was not on arma 2 if I was asked. But I'm all for better performance.

It's not a huge difference, but it's very noticeable when you're playing, especially if you play DayZ a lot. Especially in foggy/rainy weather, it looks quite nice. The fact that it brings in better performance is all the better.

Oh I know how significant it is. But they really hyped up the performance boost and cities are still kinda shitty. I hope it improves before being pushed to stable.

The lowest drop i've gotten in a city with a 960 was being on top of the mayor's building in cherno and looking over the whole thing, and even then I only dropped to 30ish FPS. Normally in cities (with high/max settings except for disabled post-processing) I get anywhere between 40 and 60 fps.
Which is still double what i'd usually get on the ground.
Weird. I'm running a 970 and even on the outskirts of Elektro, looking towards the city drops my framerate to 30-40 while turning and looking away form it brings my framerate back up to 60+.
All of you guys experiencing bad performance, check your Dayz config files at Documents\Dayz.
In my case the framerate was similar/slightly better than in the old engine, still sub-30 fps in cities, and after checking those files I found out that I was rendering the game at 2160p and downscaling to 1080p, and my view distance was set at 3'5 Km or so. After tweaking those parameters, it's rare for me to drop below 40 (in Berezino that is, still haven't checked other big settlements).

When I went into my settings I found out that my resolution was set to 4k, I still had the same performance as before experimental just now with 4k so that really says something about the new renderer

So are these lines the culprit?

isn't it funny ;)
I think it was evil plot on purpose rendering at double resolution so everyone whines
then all of sudden fix it with the stable 0.60 and everyone like wow, lots of FPS :)

Good stuff.
So after watching that video, I learned that it is in fact possible for revolvers to jam.
How do you fix it in the game? Do you have to reload? Or do you just keep spamming left click?

Wait, how the fuck can a revolver jam?
Wait, how the fuck can a revolver jam?
I don't really understand it too well myself, but sometimes the casing can bulge and makes it so you can't keep cycling the cylinder.
Also if you reload it with debris like grass or whatever caught inside, that could gum up the revolving mechanism but that seems easier to avoid.
well, more reason to keep your weapons cleaned up ;)

Weapon maintenance™ confirmed.
[editline]butts[/editline]
I can't wait to have to spend a couple hours cleaning my mosin before the surplus ammo rusts the bolt shut.

As long as the guns don't jam/blow up as often as Far Cry 2....
Well, public 0.59 servers are a scary place.
A guy in kamy sprayed a team mate down, I shot that guy in the back, motherfucker had a VSS with a 2,300~ round magazine.
Like holy balls.
Does anyone here know if there's a way to disable the 3rd-person shoulder camera?
On Another note:
Albeit I didn't get to try 0.60; I'm pretty sure that it makes a massive impact on the games responsiveness. In my opinion the big problem in DayZ hasn't been that it has clunky controls, but that it has had clunky controls on top of framerates so bad that it is not uncommon to have inputs be dropped or suffer input lag in the very least.
So I hope that when 0.60 rolls out it creates an influx in active players :excited:
My main problem with DayZ/ArmA is that the PC can't even jump, only vault over some damn fences. The vaulting system is so unreliable it's infuriating, so many times I mashed 'v' button in front of the fence to see that nothing is happening only for PC to vault over a fence and do a second vault over nothing.
They are working on a new player controller meant to fix the clunky controlls. Lots and lots of new animations begin made.
I tried DayZ again. I try it once every three or or four months. There are new items but that's really the only thing I noticed. I got to try the newest 0.60 build though and wow that performance increase was amazing. The next day all the 0.60 servers were gone for me and I went back to 0.59 and it sucked, I want to play 0.60 again because man, I chug in cities now but in 0.60 everything was always silky smooth.
The new 0.60 inventory was really clunky though. The old one was way more straight forward.
So are the servers with the new engine not available right now?
So are the servers with the new engine not available right now?
Experimental servers only for now.

They had to rebuild the UI system for the new renderer, the current setup is bare minimum functional while they work on it.
