The experimental servers are down over the weekend whilst they're working out some issues with logins or something: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1son1fa
Apparently there are new icons for actions that were found in 0.60's files:
A few gripes after playing 0.60 for a few hours; Lead Pipe vs Fists Weapon damage doesn't make sense in this game. Not sure in what world someone would still be standing after taking hits to the face with a lead pipe. I landed at least 3 hits to the face and caused some random to bleed but they landed 5+ punches to my face and I go down first. The other player had no gear and I had a basic hat and other basic clothing on. Spamming wildly with fists is still better than using anything but top tier melee items. Add a stamina system similar to No More Room In Hell to prevent mouse1 click spamming with fists or just buff the damage on items. This will change the zerg fisting meta into a more tactical careful approach of baiting out attacks and looking for opportunities to get hits in. Fall Damage Let's loot the barn for easy gun drops! Oh, don't fall from the top of the first flight of barn stairs or you will break a leg or just straight up die if you already took damage. The fall damage threshold just seems way off at the moment. Jumping from 6-7 feet shouldn't do so much damage in game. In addition to, this is a combination of very clunky movement while moving down stairs which is counter intuitive from my gaming experience. Jumping As mentioned above, the vault system is akin to a jump version 0.25. Just give the players a regular jump and get rid of this clunky archaic vault. Otherwise than that, I love the new game engine and can't wait for 0.60 to hit stable.
New player controller and damage system will hopefully solve the problems you listed.
I miss the zombie spawning of the olden DayZ when it was a mod. A massive dynamic is missing from the game, when in the mod days it was kinda like a simplified version Metal Gear Solid 3 with zombies when you had to sneak. The crossbow guy was a really valuable part of a team. And hopefully we'll someday start seeing mounds of rotten corpses as an environmental hazard. Right now it doesn't feel like a zombie apocalypse. It feels like an "Everyone just packed up and left"-apocalypse.

Oh the joy of driving a 3-wheeled bus that can't go up the hill if you dont change the gear in time. I really like the current vehicle system.
Oh the joy of driving a 3-wheeled bus that can't go up the hill if you dont change the gear in time. I really like the current vehicle system.
you have to shift gears now in vehicles?
Yep, Q and E. Q is downshift E is upshift

I can not at all see how they're related to a vehicle's throttle.

I hope 0.60 brings wildlife back. Didn't at least see any at 0.59. No wildlife would make it kinda hard to play it as snake eater type. Especially since next week I'm setting up a crew with my friends and I'll be the teams sniper-scout. Which means that hunting would be preferable if I get separated. And hopefully zombies aren't going to be such a rarity.

DayZ needs more lovin', last I time played it there were barely any wildlife/natural things what so ever, apart from the far and few between zombies. I've seen recent videos of the standalone (which I presume is what this thread is about) and it looks quite good, is it worth the $39.99 on Steam?
Wait for summer sale to pick this game up.
you mean like this ? :)

I killed it but I learned that you can't actually do anything with it.

So... ...Has 0.60 stable been released yet?
Nah. The thread will probably blow up when it does.

It's on its way now in my steam
So is that the new engine for everyone?
Correct, DayZ is worth playing again.
Just wandered around for a few hours. Killed and ate about 8 chickens, butchered them with a stone knife and cooked them over a fire. 10/10 game.
Correct, DayZ is worth playing again.
I haven't touched DayZ in over a year and a half, but just decided to drop into this thread to see why it'd become active again. Could you give me a quick breakdown of what you mean?

Could you give me a quick breakdown of what you mean?
a new graphics system has been implemented, which should give all players a quite noticeable average performance boost. I've gotten a strong impression that the previous generally mediocre performance of the game for a lot of players was a really large negative point of DayZ.

Could you give me a quick breakdown of what you mean?
The main gripe and why I stopped playing DayZ is that while DayZ itself is a clunky game to play, the FPS really made it unbareable to continue playing after a certain amount of time. Now don't get me wrong I've played the DayZ Mod from Arma 2 and was completely fine with what it offered at suboptimal FPS rates from 0-20. But, when DayZ Standalone was the same deal. I really didn't feel the need to play DayZ Standalone. But now we can actually be able to walk, run and shoot in over 50 FPS in DayZ, it's really a dream come true for many and it's all because of this update 0.60.
