That brings the question: if you have a base surrounded by walls on a public server( I mean the future versions ofc), will someone be able to just go to your camp's location on another server, log out there, log in inside your camp, steal your shit and disconnect?
Yes, except there are no such thing as build-ables
Yes, except there are no such thing as build-ables
As I said in the post, yet. But seriously, what's the solution for this? Cabinets like the ones in Rust?
Is there anyway to see what servers i've been playing, I have one saved to my favs which me and a friend play but I was just playing a private hub server so I can play on my own without moving my other character but I had to quit for a minute or so and don't remember the name and the history tab doesn't work

my character which just died started his life by finding an offroad hatchback, and died shortly after leaving behind another offroad hatchback. right after I spawned, I stumbled upon an offroad hatchback on the main road of Komarovo, which only needed some wheel fixes to run properly. I fixed its wheels with the repair kit and lug wrench I found in the hatchback itself. I quickly drove all the way up to almost the Tisy military base without any stops, until I managed to make the car slide and crash into a tree around 500 meters south of the military base. since I wasn't able to repair the car, and didn't have any risks other than losing the loot potential of the military base since I hadn't picked up anything of value, I continued to the military base and looted it. I didn't find anything other than an AKS-74U, pistol-grip MP-133, and a Vz 61, all of which without ammo or magazines. mostly because the Tisy-specific buildings haven't been set up to spawn any loot yet. after that, I ran around Stary Yar and the north in general for a few hours, mostly to try repairing the two hatchbacks I managed to find. I was pretty close to fully repairing the first one I found, but I only lacked a battery, and the hatchback disappeared before I could find a battery (between two play-sessions). a few hours after I gave up on fixing the first hatchback, I found another one by the small roadblock in between Ratnoe and Severograd. it only needed an additional wheel, and for all wheels to be pristine. it took me about half an hour to get the last needed wheel and the tools needed to fix all the wheels. after that, I took what basically became a suicide trip with the car without stopping, to the small settlement north of the Balota airfield. on the way, around Lopatino, somebody tried shooting at my car with a rifle, and apparently hit only the car's windshield out of the two shots I heard, before I sped away. when I got to the settlement, I left it there by a fence, and I looted a few of the buildings near where I left the car. I was about to leave to run to Chernogorsk when I started taking fire from somebody who I think had an AUG while I was in a field between the settlement and Chapaevsk. since I'd already gotten hit a few times, instead of fighting an almost pointless fight, I decided to make my character kill himself with his Glock after dropping all my clothes, just before the player who tried killing my character got to the shed which I ran into as a quick cover. I honestly hope whoever that was will have fun with the hatchback I left behind if they didn't ruin the battery and spark plug I kept in my inventory after leaving the car.

I've spent some time with a friend making a little camp with a lot of nice gear. I hope no one finds it and wrecks it, but the good thing is that there's so much gear that it would take like 20 people to take all of it. [All the gear in the whole fucking game times infinity]
...how?
1. How did you get that much? 2. Won't it all disappear with a server restart?
1. How did you get that much? 2. Won't it all disappear with a server restart?
Tents and such are persistent now, so camps are very feasible.
I assume this means the persistence isn't purged with every wednesday maintainence like it used to be.
How does persistence work? Do the tent locations come with you when you change server? What items are actually persistent?
It's amazing how people will still consider me friendly while I'm busy cooking 3 dead people on a fire in the middle of town.
How does persistence work? Do the tent locations come with you when you change server? What items are actually persistent?
tents stay on the same servers you pitch them on, even on private servers with the same hive. inside tents or containers, all items should last for as long as the containers do. I've heard plastic protector cases can stay persistent for days, and that backpacks stay for 2 to 4 hours, while most items stay for 30 minutes. I believe guns or weapons in general stay for longer than regular items, but not much longer.
What about server restarts? I'm yet to find a server that doesn't restart every 2-4 hours. Plus with servers changing names and/or vanishing, it's difficult to actually settle down.

So, getting onto DayZ right after getting back from the dentists, still heavily sedated, and getting onto a 60 population server in cherno wasn't such a great idea. Logged in inside the cherno hotel a few floors down, team mate logged in inside the tip top little room on roof like an idiot, 5 minutes in he gets knocked unconscious from nowhere and not even 30 seconds later I have a guy rushing me from below. [VID]https://i.gyazo.com/458cc31bcfe20769902afb742ade8851.mp4[/VID] Heavily sedated as I was, all I saw was the barrel as it went CLICK about 6 times an inch from my face, straight tunnel visioned me so that panic fire is embarrassing as shit, but this guy, for what ever fucking reason, deus ex machina be damned, had a ruined round in his chamber when he had over 1,000+ rounds of 5.56 in his inventory.
You lucky bastard.
Dude, the stars aligned or some fucking shit because after my heart was done trying to jump out of my chest and I looked over his gear.... Just... how? 1,000~ rounds of 5.56 and he just happens to have the one damaged/ruined round chambered?

Well, go figure the bullshit luck I had in the last post had to have come with a price. Friend and I are up at the north west, finally got him all set again with an AUG and a winchester, I had my AK101 and blaze (had my trophy shades from that last guy) and we wanted to PVP a bit. Took him up the hill that looks over the NW tents by the walk in deer hut, we logged in some trees and went into a 57/60, not 10 seconds after my friend logs in and runs out to his spot to snipe, he got tapped twice from an AK that was about 10ft in front of me, I walked into the tree directly in front of where I spawned and sat in it watching my friends body for about 4~ minutes just to find out I was sitting on the mother fucker that shot him. [VID]https://i.gyazo.com/63cf972a5fd50f8e72491967f0b6ff36.mp4[/VID] My nuts were resting on the back of that guys head for 4 fucking minutes and I didn't even fucking notice him till the very last second. [VID]https://i.gyazo.com/caae0fd26267ca8685602154a32807a8.mp4[/VID] #TheDayZLife I wasn't mad, just... depressed. I saw the movement and just accepted my fate.
Double carrying is never a good idea. Especially in your case where you logged in with a weapon in hand at a high risk area. He will always cock his weapon, no matter what, if he has it in hand when spawning. And other players will be able to hear that. Plus, if you're running around with a mate, you'd be far better off if you took a role each. One with a mid to long distance rifle and one with a close to mid distance rifle is usually a pretty good combo, and that way either of you won't have to double carry.

I've always double carried, I know you reload when you log in and that's acceptable risk to me, the problem was that we both logged in pretty much right ontop of the guy, we were fucked regardless.

How many hours do you have in the game?
Found an SVD with a ton of full mags, an aug with a few double mags, and an ak-74 with one mag all in a military tent. Gave the aug and ak to my two friends, both new to the game, and then was immediately killed by both of them trying to shoot a zombie that was on me. They then both starved to death shortly after.
