Still waiting on someone to make a crazy ass nightclub map so I an be John Wick.
Demon hunter is pretty good though
I completely replaced the music anyways, KF2's really doesn't gel with me
I miss the horror element from the first game. Like, there are barely any blood splatters or corpses on the maps. It feels more like a riot after a soccer game than a mutant clone apocalypse.
Commando is the best trash clearing perk in the game. He's the cheapest to maintain compared to SWAT, he doesn't cause any unnecessary chaos like Firebug, his zed time extensions give your team basically god mode, has a very good TTK for scrakes, on top of having the most team support of all 3 trash cleaners. SCAR is honestly very redundant, and on a HoE game you want to go with AK12 and the Med Rifle. SCAR is overkill vs trash, and the TTK HVT zeds compared to the AK12 is pretty negligible when you take into account the SCAR's horrible clip size.
The new boss themes suck. Bring this back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwLDDEm6cBQ
My problem with the boss themes is that they lack the zest that the old Patriarch theme had. For me the themes of the new bosses are as memorable as the kind of cinematic music you'd hear in a Marvel movie.
I keep forgetting that KF2 has a soundtrack. Granted, I listen to podcasts and such while playing but even if I didn't, I doubt it would ever be anything other than random noise in my head drowned out by all the other random noise going on in-game.
I'm still waiting for custom soundtracks to be easy to do.
Someone should contact them and see if they'd be interested.
I've been thinking of missing some songs from Painkiller into the soundtrack. It would fit in really well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgkxU-7LXDI
There's a really good mod that replaces all the vocal tracks with the music from KF1 It's amazing how much of a difference it makes, the music doesn't just feel like noise in the background now. Doesn't replace Fleshpound and Abomination theme though sadly. All we need is now is that gritty aesthetic back.
I honestly just wish Tripwire would add all the music from KF1 into KF2. Even better if they also allowed you to set the boss music tracks for each map.
So I finished my dailies and weekly in solo and when I tried to unbox/craft all I got were dupes, even when they were in precious quality.
I think my game is fucked. Haven't played in months and I tried booting it up and there's still christmas zeds on the main screen. I can't even play a match, the game just crashes when the map is loading. Verifying the game cache also didn't do shit. Is the game giving me the cold shoulder for neglecting it?
I want the stock maps back too, granted there are some great custom recreations already like office and biotics lab but I want them to be apart of the official map rotation
Nothing stopping TW from just adding the existing ported versions I guess.
Some maps don't really work due to the gameplay not being the exact same. Farm is extremely easy for example.
Isn't farm literally a test map made official map? I can think of heaps of maps, especially old community ones that'd be awesome in kf2.
I don't know about Farm since I got into KF fairly late, but I agree that some maps could be good in KF2. Some of them could do with a bit of tweaking though, since Biotics Lab felt really cramped with all the new sprinting Zeds and all that stuff.
Farm is a terrible map and doesn't count
To be fair when it was put in it was like "hey, we don't really have enough maps and i've enjoyed fucking around on the test map thats sorta polished" "yeah whatever throw it in won't hurt for a $20 game"
Pretty sure that was the case of Farmhouse in 2. Don't know about the original.
I liked Farm though. Running through the crops was great fun. If they redid it they could have the Crops be knocked down (since they're slowly removing destructible lights they could add something like this instead) by you and other Zeds, and you could create clearings in which you set up a Killing Floor ™.
I think this game could use some more large, open maps. The largest single-levels that are fairly open at the moment are Black Forest and maybe Infernal realm? I'm dying for some official KF map ports at this point. I really want something like Farm or Mountain Pass. I don't hate maps like Descent, and Power Core, but I feel like there is no replacement for a good single large map. And the sections of each part of these maps always feel too small and congested for my liking. It always feels like I'm playing something where the developer was trying to obey a strict size limitation. Like a Doom wad compilation for trying to create a level in the smallest possible area. I think Nightmare gets a pass only because the aesthetics of each section are all really cool, and they're not all tiny like Descent is.
The biggest problem with adding in the older maps is that they would all need to be reworked. The ports that have been created are nice and all, but most of them are exact 1 to 1 ports, which means they're usually overly cramped and way too small for KF2s game play.
Honestly the kf1 music mod really falls flat for me, it sounds like they're all downmixed to mono as well as being more silent?
I know this has been said many times but the cosmetic system drives me nuts and it doesn't help people seem to intentionally make their characters look as fucktarded as possible. Precious items would have been fine if they were still rare and you only saw them once in a blue moon but now everyone and their dog has them.
Okay so I tried something else. I tried to install Kf2 on my brother's computer, see if there were some local files that got messed up. Even there, my commando is still on level 0 Tried reinstalling, still 0 so I know something somewhere goes wrong between the server and client
Idunno just go use Steam Achivement Manager to give yourself some xp in commando Should fix it
