Woah, a multi-tier weapon upgrade system? Didn't see that one coming, considering they can't even balance the existing weapons properly. Hopefully this means they'll take a fresh look at everything and do a massive balance pass, cause otherwise it could turn out messy. It's bound to shake up the meta either way, and that's a great reason to return to the game. They actually got Claudia Black to voice Mrs. Foster, interesting. Also the way it's worded makes it a bit unclear, will each weapon only have a couple upgrade levels or will T1 starting weapons go all the way up to T4-5? I'm guessing it's the former.
I wonder how much she'll cost.
I will go ahead say that having both lootboxes and paid DLCs is even more terrible. I mean we already have the skin bundles and stuff. I don't care if this is "optional", even things like collecting tickets is a pain so good luck also getting what you want.
Now give me Thorne.
A bunch of people in the comment section are salty about it .

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about having paid DLC in addition to the micro transaction bullshit. I admit I'll probably get it if it's not too expensive, but it does feel shitty, especially when the money from micro transactions was supposed to fund free content and updates. As for the update itself, the prestige system doesn't sound too horrible. I'm not one to really care about the whole prestige thing, but it sounds like it's going to be a fairly harmless addition. The weapon upgrades however seem like a giant cluster fuck waiting to happen. Tripwire already has enough problems trying to balance the game in its current state. Now they're going to split each current and future weapon into 4 separate variants and balance them? I honestly don't see that ending well.
I'd be all for them dropping the microtransactions and just having dlc.
Personally I find it kinda funny that some of the community is getting angry over this, despite there being a Deluxe Edition that you can buy to get more characters, buying costumes on the KF2 shop like the Commando Chicken (being $5), but an actual DLC character? Can't have that.
I mean I'm up for a new female character considering I don't like both of the ones in-game currently. I don't really like how Ana looks but find her VA to be pretty decent, Rae I don't mind the look of but hate the VA.
What? You're telling me you don't love 20 of the same item but just different colors? I really, REALLY wish the duplicate items were just one that you could pick the skin for, I could understand being able to find the gold ones on their own but having 20 listings at varying prices of the same helmet is fucking annoying.
I hate buying things off the marketplace because everything is severely overpriced.
Or the fact that they just gave us DAR for free, even if it was a little underwhelming.

It's probably just a custom version of the HMTech 401 they use for testing purposes.
And at £12000 too, a little under 10x the price of any other medic weapon
I'm just afraid the Tier-4 weapons that get nerfed to Tier-3 are going to feel weak and unsatisfying before upgrading. How lame would it be to buy a .500 magnum that does wimpy damage unless you play a whole wave to get the $600 you need to upgrade it?
I'm hoping the cost of upgrading it to t4 will match buying it as a t4 now.
This all just kinda reeks of power creep.
Maybe. There is a weight increase so maybe things will get capped off a bit.
I like the idea of upgrading, but I'm really afraid of it fucking with the entire balance of the game in a bad way.
Main thing I'm worried about upgrading is if it adds to the weight, is everyone just going to upgrade the highest tier weapon? I can already see lots of games where we don't have enough ammo cuz everyone can only hold onto one gun.
I would rather them implementing something like alternate ammo types instead of straight up upgrading the weapon, like armor piercing rounds that can pierce through resistances of specific parts like the blades of Scrakes and gorefast/fiends and the FP's maces and rage, slugs for supports who want a solid hit on a target instead of crowd control capability, different types of 40mm grenades for the GL like grape shot or a gigantic 40mm shotgun shell. Another way to make upgrading your weapons feel less cheap looking is introducing an attachment system where you can choose what you can put on your gun that fits your playstyle, like recoil compensators for automatics, laser sights for accuracy, or scopes or different types of sights for weapons that normally doesn't have them or didn't have an option to remove said attachment.
Skins seem really useless in a cooperative game of like 6 people.
Bought KF2 for christmas and I'm could not get into it. KF1 had a more fun community and people actually talked to one another in chat or over comms. Waves and boss fights seem to boil down to spamming your guns as much as possible with no actual coop strategy with nobody really dying. Does anyone feel the same way?
Are you playing on HoE?
I was low level so I only did suicidal.
KF2's commrose is such a downgrade to KF1's voice menu in all sorts of manners, but that's the consequence of also putting this game on Consoles. Your character doesn't even say anything when you pick THANK YOU because they just tacked it on after people made a fuss about its nonexistence and Thank-you responses being automated.
The KF Team could've made them actually say thanks with the clips they already have, but they didn't.
It's kinda amazing how profoundly ugly, and not in a good way, a ton of the stuff in this game is
