I really hate DAR recycling the lines of other players.
Honestly considering the lines are gonna be filtered to hell anyway, why not just have someone in the office voice her, write some generic robot-y lines and maybe some relating to how she was Dr. Tamm's fuck-bot and you're done
I remember writing a post elsewhere regarding the possibilities for how they were going to make the M99 stand out from the rail gun. I pretty much went through the possibilities that they could either make it a lighter power hitter, with or without a larger reserve and reload speed, or they'd for whatever reason just make the M99 even stronger than the rail gun. I wrote off the possibility of the latter, because I thought it would be strange of them to make a standard anti-materiel rifle somehow do more damage than a fictional rail gun that accelerates a slug at insane speeds.. But I seemed to have tempted fate, as that's now what they ended up doing. I think they put themselves into a corner. If they were going to make the M99 stand out, they were forced to pick a solution that would throw reality out the window to some capacity. They could have made the M99 lighter than the rail gun, but the M99 is not a light weapon by any measure, so if they tried putting it at 8, it would have been unusual considering the size of the weapon. Since they obviously are going to keep it a super-heavy weapon, the only way to make it stand out is to basically turn it an anti-everything gun even though we already had one which had a justified amount of power given its fictional nature.
I honestly feel pretty disappoint with the direction KF2 is going in - what with all the Sci-Fi weaponry being added. KF has always been about cool guns and shooting monsters, there's so many cool lead spitters out there that they haven't explored yet - what do we need all those futuristic gimmicks for?
because the future is now old man
lead kills and maims just as nicely I reckon
everyone at Tripwire should be tied down and forced to watch Dog Soldiers to get this shit back on track the most KF1 movie ever made
I feel like they've done decently on both? I mean, personally, in a game where there's a high-tech evil corporation with straight up glowy gun-printing machines, it's not out of place to have a few unrealistic guns. I mean, hell, they added the AF2011, which is a unusual, but real gun. That, and as sci-fi as the railgun may seem, railguns just shoot what mounts up to be bullets.
Making the M99 light enough for someone to carry another heavy hitter like the EBR would make it stand out against the railgun.
Yeh the nonsense robot sounds from kf1 were so much cooler imo. I can barely understand what's being said anyway and the delay makes the call outs rubbish anyway. If they wanted to change them up they should have given DAR a monotone robot voice like the summer sideshow flamer robots. it's not like heavily distorted robot voice lines are going to rack up a massive voice actor budget. they could get anyone to speak and we wouldn't be able to tell. Maybe now that TW have started selling DLC characters again we will see less of these work arounds and more fully fledged new survivors with their own lines.
That's exactly why I didn't expect, or want them to go the route of just making the M99 the king of single-shot power-hitters. Now the M99 is just going to be an expensive, and impractical overkill weapon that probably only finds usage on boss waves. Just like the previous game.
Give me more disgusting mutants to shoot. And no, tacking on scrap metal is not a viable option.
Like... did they genuinely fire their art department? As permanent additions, the variants are seriously embarrassing.
As far as I can tell, a few of the artists from the Art of Killing Floor 2 book still work at Tripwire. Judging by the artwork, it seems like the artists are competent so why is it that the latest zed variants have been lazily cobbled together? I think the real problem is that someone higher up is making some really piss poor decisions or cutting corners. The thing is I love the original and I like some of the changes brought to KF2, but KF2 mostly feels more like a jumble of bad decisions and Tripwire letting success get to their head.
Personally I'm okay with both real and sci-fi weapons being added. I get that with the game's lore that Horzine makes some sci-fi weapons for the survivors and honestly I like some of them like the Rail Gun and the Medic Guns.
https://i.redd.it/6kkhh7fjqnu01.png Any of these would be creative weapons that are not scifi.
Nah man gotta jump to Sci-Fi right away.
KF2's direction feels like quantity over quality now. I love the new weapons, but I think we can hold off on new zeds until they actually come up with something good. I love these. They're similar to how the weapons in Painkiller all have alternate fire modes.
There are so many forgettable weapons in KF2, like, you could do so much but they just... don't
The textures on the HZ-12 are really rubbery and off compared to all the other metal looking guns. I hope any new weapons they add have textures up to vanilla weapons quality.
A lot of textures for whatever reason have a low-res issue. Foster's cyber punk skin gloves have it going on.
Honestly I'd rather have older guns than this Sci-Fi stuff. It wouldn't even be hard to import something from RS2/RS1 into KF2.
Not sure what's sci-fi about a quad barrel shotgun.
apparently it's not as easy as it sounds - both for technical and other reasons Still, there is one modder dedicated to doing just that : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GNEREOhOk8
What is that on a top-right?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TKB-059 One of my favorite weapons in JA2 as suppression would be calculated for each shot, making it great at making enemies uncontrollably go prone or lose action points, and all 3 shots hitting the head = guaranteed headsplosion. Anyway it was a prototype assault rifle from Soviet Russia. https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/004/170/507/large/dmitry-bezrodniy-screenshot000.jpg?1481024259
I guess I might be in the minority here in that I don't have an issue with any of the art direction things they've done so far? Besides the Rioter looking like garbage ( fitting that it's because he's actually covered in garbage ) I don't have much an issue with anything they've done. So long as the gameplay remains snappy, and the enemies continue to be fun to shoot, I'm cool with anything they decide to do with the game.
There needs to be more cybernetic specimens, or more horribly mutated specimens or captured humans turned specimens.
I mean, they just added a double-barreled 1911, so in terms of weapons, those crazy but real weapon designs might be the direction they're going after they add all these weapons from KF1.
I want a weapon that shoots streams of super heated plasma and has a special effect where zeds get fucking vaporized into nothing
