Played a lot of Wintermaul Wars and Hero Line defense - I remember playing a lot of other maps, but I mostly played with other people at my youth club, so we basically rotated between the maps people liked.
Haven't played online for a very long time, partly because I registered my license code on the blizzard site and I can't remember my account details.
Those were actually the two I played back then but forgot the names of. I played Wintermaul Wars quite a bit before I got super deep into Vampirism. It was the only TD I was able to actually be half decent at :v:
i was good at elemantal td
I was always a fan of YouTD
youTD is the best TD out there in my book. Great race/tower variety, has an item drop system, saves, xp, hero builder perks.
Don't think I've ever heard of YouTD. Although I did remember another TD my friend made me play while I was at his place (we played a LOT of WC3 together) called Gem TD. Shit was way too confusing for my younger self though since that was like seven or eight years ago though :v:
I don't think I would have actually come back to WC3 later on though if my friend hadn't introduced me to it back then so I gotta be thankful for that I guess lol. He loved to play Life of a Peon or whatever it was called all the time
Castle Fight was always my favorite custom game. A lot of people think it's boring, but I personally enjoy it a ton.
Warcraft III is even after all the years one of the best games that exist.
wtf how did i never find this thread
does anyone play sotdrp tho

I didn't think anyone else remembered that map existed. http://www.eeve.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=2493
"By using my script interpreter GMSI and the web interface, people can create towers and then upload them onto this page.
Here, towers can be seen by other people and be discussed. Once an admin approves a tower, it will be automatically put into the next release of YouTD.
People can even download the uploaded towers to learn from others."
I always liked how they made towers by mixing props instead of using custom models. http://www.eeve.org/YouTD/browse.php

Was that the one where you built a castle/fort and could team up with other players to fight everyone else? There were a few maps like that with different styles, like one that let you choose a race and had prebuilt fortresses and one where it was just wilderness.
I stopped playing WC3 when it got completely taken over by bots hosting nothing but DOTA.

This one was basically like this:
There's two teams. Each team has a castle they need to defend while destroying the enemy's. They do this by choosing a race and then build monster spawning buildings. Each race had their strengths and weaknesses.
Does anyone remember Autumn TD? that was the shit.
I stopped playing WC3 when it got completely taken over by bots hosting nothing but DOTA.
I don't remember their names but there used to be like two dedicated community bots for Vampirism that would fill almost instantaneously, but there were like 900 DOTA bots always sitting there on Idle. Sad thing was Vampirism almost always started immediately and lasted for fucking ever, so that's pretty much the only time I'd look to play Line Tower Wars or Wintermaul.
[editline]Edited: [/editline]
That's probably why I still despise DOTA to this day as well. I think I ended up trying it at one point and just did not enjoy it at all.
does anyone happen to remember a map for I think around 10 players, where one player is a dragon and the others build towns and shit and can either side with or fight the dragon? I can't remember what it was called
That sounds like Vampirism, so its probably either that or a variation of it.
I want Hero Wars to come back as standalone game or custom games.
There is one Hero Defense standalone game called Bloodsports.TV that's on steam, though there are no PvP modes, just Co-Op. http://store.steampowered.com/app/336420/

Looks like that game is pretty much effectively dead. It's only been above 25 concurrent players in the past month once. That's the sad part about a majority of the Warcraft game modes was that most of them were very niche.
Oh you guys, Element TD? Gang Wars? Gang Wars Tourney? Green TD, Blue TD? Wintermaul??
Did anyone ever play the horse racing game? It was so lame but I was in a clan devoted solely to this obscure horse racing game. We got so good.
And American Football? Soccer???? I got so fucking good at WC3 Soccer.
Thinking back to it, it's amazing what the community came up with. Custom Maps in WC3 are some of the greatest moments in gaming for me, RIP to something incredible.

Element is the only TD map I can consistently find a handful of people to play with every now and then. For some reason I can't play it SP without the game crashing on me after a certain amount of levels.
Speaking of sports games, I remember having the most fun with baseball and paintball even though the controls sucked. Don't have any memories of playing soccer and football, but I'd love to try them out if we could round up enough people.
I love how many spin offs of tower defense maps Wintermaul spawned. Only a few that i remember were tropical td, cartoon network td, video game td...Some were broken but others were fun til you get leavers or shit heads that build in other people's building zones.
Garena had a bunch "Tree Tag Philippines" channels but people only use it to host random custom maps that aren't Tree Tag. Tropical Tower Wars, Trolls vs Elves, and Vampirism were the shit back in 2007.
I even found a small group of players that regularly hang out there who played all kinds of maps from RPGs that allowed character saving (e.g. Twilight's Eve) to random warioware-style shit. We even occasionally played grand strategy maps where games can last for hours.
Warcraft III is the best.
It's a shame that the new version of Enfos (which is the only one ever hosted) is an unbalanced, edgy trainwreck.

Enfos 1.2(I think?) was amazing.
Enfos, WMW, and Autumn Crossing TD are 3 games that I have permanently seared in my brain with more hours than I can count spent in all 3.
I'm not even sorry for the bump: 1.29 is a thing, and it's going to upgrade and expand a lot of stuff.
Copypasting from the HIVE:
So to dive right into it, perhaps the biggest features include, true native widescreen support, the ability for 24 player maps, major hero balance changes, a new ladder map pool for all ladder modes, the major expansions of World Editor limits (Map size dimensions -> 480x480, object limit -> 30,000, terrain tiles -> 16, and many more limits raised), and over 90 new natives for the World Editor. If you had a hard time taking all of that in because it's absolutely crazy and packed into one loosely formatted paragraph, we can't blame you!
Note that all of these changes are in the public test realm, meaning it has separate Warcraft 3 server and download. But don't worry, these features should hit the main server when they are tested thoroughly enough and are clear for lift off. We went over all of these massive changes in detail below.
Lol I posted basically this same post in the news thread. Guess I get nostalgic af about wc3 :v:
Anyone ever play Island Defense? Probably one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time.

I used to love Island Defense back in the day, but eventually the community just got really elitist against newer players, especially against the Titan.
[editline]GET IN HERE! FUCKERRRRS![/editline]
[del]Anyone who wants in, we're playing Dark Deeds right now on BNet[/del]
Also, we have an FP Warcraft 3 Discord, thanks to MajorWX: https://discord.gg/Cryhuf9

WC3 customs were generally pretty elitist, since most came with little to no tutorial and most maps were team-oriented in some way
You would get kicked if you had to DL the map. I often wonder if Island Defense and other similar games of that type (werewolves, vampires, etc.) could be adapted into a standalone.
Certainly if you were a game dev in need of ideas, WC3 would be the place to look. So much creativity. Ah, the nostalgia.
