Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V11 - SERIOUS RP ONLY

If we got cops and crooks people would complain and want what we have right now anyway
I don't really think it would have worked for GTA Online.
Faction system with ranks would have been way too MMO-ish.
GTA:O has pretty basic MMO elements such as grinding and ranking up and people bitch about it endlessly because it isn't like IV's multiplayer and it has shitty, basic micro-transactions which is only buying cash in game.
In Earth 2 where GTAO is like APB people bitch even more because:
- "The faction I don't mainly play as is way too overpowered"
- Crews of 10 crooks pubstomping like 2 cops because shitty Rockstar team balancing and matchmaking
- Crap guns and lots of lag
- Takes three centuries to switch from cop character to crook character because the game is slow as fuck
Current system is better because the game doesn't really forces you to start an organization. You can just chill around like nothing is happening.
CEOs don't necessairly have to fight off MCs, nor they have to fight other CEOs or MCs having to kill other MCs. The game suggests you to, but most people don't give two fucks.
switching from a criminal CEO to a criminal gang leader doesn't sound weird in the GTA universe.
Now switching from a criminal to a cop would be weird.
Everyone can use any gun and drive any car, if something is OP you can just buy it and fight back.
Team Deathmatch, Adversary Modes, VS Missions and such can be played with and against anyone. Having them faction based would make it a bitch to find rival players (which is already hard with current matchmaking)
The closest thing to Cops n' Crooks is Extraction Adversary Mode
people bitch about grinding for cash and RP because anytime people find an actual legit way to farm it Rockshitter remove it.
If we got cops and crooks people would complain and want what we have right now anyway
imo what we have right now is the best outcome (except for the price gouging to get it)
CEO and MC allow you to make your own faction and the rest of the server isn't forced into playing factions and besides, the supposed beta version of GTAO with it's factions and shit reminds me of garrys mod RP massively and when you start to consider how bad gta online and it's playerbase can be combined with gmod rp elements, it's some scary stuff, a recipe for an absolutely awful game
I'd much rather play as my own set of dudes than an arbitrary gang or police force
If anything, MC and CEO show how horrible it would be if we had a PvP faction war going on at all times
Yeah, I think the cops and robbers angle is better off with other things, such as.. Cops and Robbers, that one SA-MP server!
Oh man I'm not sure if you're thinking the server I'm thinking but that server is pretty refined for plugin-enabled gameplays and I always had thought it was the GTA:O before GTA:O
I just realized Rockstar missed a massive opportunity with the Bikers DLC. If they added a lever action shotgun, it would have been possible for a flawless playthrough of the various events as Arnold. You already have the Harley style bikes like the Bagger and Daemon, along with the leather jackets, cheap sunglasses and other stuff. There's probably a way to get the facial structure and hair at least somewhat in line with Arnie, you just need a lever action shotgun and you're golden. With being able to eat snacks and armor instantly you'd be nearly invincible, just like a T-800. You'd be killed by explosions (stopped) but not permanently (reboot from damage) and you'd be back in the fight with a few scars to the skin, and that's all.
I heard you can freely wear bulletproof helmets and balaclavas together now. Can you also wear eyewear with that?
Yeah they should've added a lever action instead of that auto shotgun they added. I dunno how useful that thing is but I never feel like using it because I think it's ugly. I'd definitely use a lever action more.

FTFY.
Really though, I know they're based off a real design (PA- something, can't remember), but they just look so fucking awful.

I don't know if you could make the face look satisfactorily like Arnie, but even if you did, you'd be stuck playing the skinniest wet noodle a character creator has ever spat out.

tbh with that repair cost might as well restart

one single shot caused 1k in damage so whatever
one single shot caused 1k in damage so whatever
My favourite is when there is an attack helicopter that is far far away yet still manages to hit you for $500 damage per bullet shot.

Dont forget the cars going batshit even when you're far away from all the enemies

That pisses me off more than anything else. I'd prefer to have a friend with a flipcar there for the mission to clear the way.
when it comes to vehicle cargo, just use the cargobob for everything. makes life a lot easier.

Or maybe an airlift chopper.

I tried that once. Lots of damage, and the heli dropped the car while I was flying over the reservoir.
Oh, so the cargobob does work outside of missions then. Never tried it yet

Brotip:
In vehicle stealing missions the enemies will spawn in waves consisting of 2 cars/1 car 1 helicopter/2 helicopters per wave, depending on what mission it is.
If it's a standard car there will be 2 waves, 3 for mid-range and 4 for top-range. After you've killed all waves of enemies they will no longer spawn. In other words, the best strategy for this is to just get out of the car, find cover and then snipe the enemies. The enemies will only shoot the car if you're in it/close to it, so stay away from the car until everyone is dead.
The same goes for when you're selling the vehicle later.

Every now and then shit like that happens, but I still prefer that over driving 6 miles. Most of the time, it works no problem.
btw, are contact missions worth doing now that they give 2x money?

Yes, it would be a very good idea to exploit the fuck out of double cash on it while it's available. I've earned around three million so far from it. They're running the bonus for two weeks which is most likely a sign that Gunrunning will be very fucking expensive.

Any recommended missions so far? I've done some Trash Talk here and there which is $30k by the most part if I do solo, but I usually play with a friend and we both would like to get some mad dosh in a reasonable mission we could grind.

I'd love to use Ramp Buggy in vehicle stealing missions, but that thing would explode quicker than if you were to ram the incoming vehicles with the stolen car, apparently.

Sounds like feasable strategy I didn't really think of. Because usually when I tried it they would just keep going and going at me so I figured they are infinite spawns when you steal the vehicle. When you sell it I don't bother and usually just drive, and in most cases I manage to get out with barely any damage. It will make things slower for sure, but for avoiding $10k expenses in repair it would be worth just sitting all waves out on stealing.

I also wish Special Vehicles were available everywhere...I mean, I paid 2.4mil for a car with a jet engine taped on its back, it irritates me that I can't use it on missions. Would it be practical? lol, no. You can call in a Cargobob and a normal plane without issues in missions, so I don't see a reason as to why a much more expensive vehicle would be blocked. You can justify having Ruiner 2k on a mission because it's the most expensive vehicle in the game, and it doesn't add that much of advantage because you can't even shoot your own weapons from it(but who needs that when you got rockets tho). But alas, Rockstar, what can I say... :(

Payouts for missions increase depending on how long it takes you to finish them, so take your time, and get a couple of randoms to join you. More players means more money.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the armoured Boxville doesn't explode or whatever from repeated ramming. So it would provide similar functionality to the Phantom wedge in a sense, and also has a mounted gun if you have 3 people stealing shit.

But the Boxville has a problem of vulnerable front seat iirc. When I did the CEO mission for it I felt exposed and constantly my health dropped. I recall having very weird experience with it.

To add to this, on missions where you have pursuers, they will starting spawning when you exceed a distance of about 400m from the point you stole the vehicle. You can use that information to find a good spot to hold out and kill your pursuers when they spawn.
Another trick for when your pursuers are helicopters is to kill everybody except the pilot of the helicopter chasing you. If you kill his gunner, the pilot will continue chasing you but can't do anything to you. If he's the only survivor in a wave, no other units can spawn until he's dead, so you can use that to your advantage by keeping him alive and allowing him to follow you until you reach your garage with the car.
He can still kill himself by crashing into buildings though, he will also despawn if you're going too fast for him to keep up. Even if you're slowing down to allow him to stay with you, it's still a faster method than waiting to kill all 4 waves.
I actually discovered and taught a great many people a similar trick for heists a while back: don't kill the drivers of the cop cars chasing you, blow out one or more of their tires instead.
If the driver dies, a new car will spawn out of view to replace them almost immediately, so the more crippled patrol cars that are still within draw distance, and the longer you keep them there, the less resistance you'll face overall.
This was, in my experience, the absolute easiest way to beat the Pac Standard finale without exploits, reducing the cash loss from 30-odd percent to less than five on average.
