Grand Theft Auto Series Megathread V11 - SERIOUS RP ONLY

Yeah this is better than paragraph stories about making other players lives hell because they drove too close or something
Real talk, it would be really cool if in the new RD's online, you could take ownership of stuff like farms, plantations, railways, even small towns, and make money from the services they provide to other players in the same lobby.
For instance, you could become mayor of a town, name the place, make a cut of every transaction in its shops and inns, appoint a sheriff and deputies to act as local peacekeepers against other players trying to rob its businesses or kill its citizens, determine local laws and so on. Buy out a branch of the railway and get a cut every time a player buys a ticket so they can use it to fast travel, and you can use it to ship goods from farms and plantations so other players who own towns can buy them to improve their facilities, but you need to hire railguards to ensure you don't get robbed by bandits in transit.
Or of course you could be a bandit, whose gameplay is entirely PvP and you make your money by robbing the above, making it less consistent but more challenging and exciting. Players who primarily kill others on sight would naturally drift towards this, and would not only be easier to tell apart from non-hostiles at first glance, but they'd have an actual reason to act like that other than just to be a douche. Plus, non-bandits can hunt bandits for bounties placed by local town owners, ensuring they never have a shortage of the PvP they want.
Everyone's giving the parent system shit but the ultimate problem with it was that it was mandatory.
If they made an ancestor system an OPTION for character creation in the new RD, with the OPTION to use your GTAO character as a descendant, that would be better. People who like the idea can use it, people who don't are never forced to.
I'd probably just import my GTAO character and throw a beard on, assuming they were competent enough to add them.

Honestly I'd be fine with just being able to import my whole GTAO character over and play as them.
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and it would be cool to see them dressed for a different era.
I do believe this is wishful thinking, however.

It'd be cool to have crossover rewards.
Like if you were to import your GTAO character to RD3 you'd get a cowboy outfit in GTAO and some GTAO reference in RD3
[editline]a[/editline]
Like a horse called Bravado :v:
Exclusives are the worst things to happen to video games, I just want a Blista Compact, why in the fuck is that an exclusive returning player car ffs rockstar.
What GTAO reference could they possibly put in a game set in the wild west, without destroying internal consistency?
[editline]18th October 2016[/editline]
I made this post before seeing gk99's edit. I guess the names of some things would be alright but what more could you really do?

If the game's got character customization they could throw in Trevor's hairstyle, Lester's glasses (I'm just spitballing here, the latter wouldn't really work for your standard spaghetti western protagonist), some small shit like that where it doesn't exactly go against the western theme. If they've still got the heritage system they could add Michael, Trevor, and Franklin as possible fathers. They could throw in a slightly modified version of GTAO's Heavy Revolver or Antique Calvary Dagger. Hell, the weapons don't even have to be specifically GTAV-related. Vice City and Chinatown Wars have the Python revolver.
I'm not suggesting they do anything huge, I just mean things that, if your character gets transferred over, you go "oh neat, I got something that's insignificant on the overall game content scale but I still might use every now and then because I have it"
Would a random encounter/easter egg with a time traveler be pushing it? I mean we have the whole UFO thing in V.
Would a random encounter/easter egg with a time traveler be pushing it? I mean we have the whole UFO thing in V.
If you mean in the next Red Dead, why not? RDR did some silly stuff already (not talking about Undead Nightmare)
Do you guys think that the picture having seven silhouettes, is important? They tried out the multiple protagonist thing with GTA V, so maybe now they're taking that concept to new heights. Could be about a gang/group and each character is playable and has their own unique perk(s).
God I hope not, I rather hope they focus on one playable character, or atleast do a much better job than they did with GTA V.
GTA Vs protags felt so weak storywise compared to previous games.
New vehicles have yet to be added this week, they seem to be running a little late.
New vehicles have yet to be added this week, they seem to be running a little late.
There were never going to be vehicles added this week. The current event lasts until the 24th, so they'll be out on the 25th for Halloween probably.

The shark card rebate event lasted until the end of the 17th, so presumably they'd release the two hyper-expensive vehicles of the bunch right after that to capitalize on it.
But I guess they're not that smart.
[editline]t[/editline]
Also IIRC there are enough new vehicles in that unreleased pack to release two every tuesday up to halloween. That's generally how they've handled these slow release bundles in the past too, though it's been one at a time previously.
Unless they want to do four on one day and zero on another for whatever reason, not sure what their plan is. Seems a little lopsided and odd, to me.
When doing the resupply mission where you need to go into Te-qui-lala without guns, you can do it faster by attaching a sticky bombs to your bike, drive into the bar and then blow it up.
The explosion should kill most enemies in the 1st floor and start a huge fire that kills remaining NPC (it won't destroy your supply drop by the way).
Also, your favorite bike will always fix itself and heal your character while riding it, even if you are not in a MC.
If you destroy your bike during a Clubwork or Resupply Mission you can reclaim it for free at Mors Mutual (same goes for CEO Work).
The new Daemon has to have different stats or something. It feels so different but i do like it a lot.
[editline]18th October 2016[/editline]
And the wolfsbane may suck but i love how it looks. Need to save some more cash for more bikes n it I've already sold all the cars that i don't want.
Do any of the other new bikes sound like the Chimera? I quite like how it sounds but the fact I can't put bulletproofs on it means I can't really use it for much of anything practical.
The quality of the new vehicles is... Lackluster? Disappointing? I just can't fathom how you can release motorcycles like the gargoyle and others that get stuck upside down like the hitbox is a perfect square on top. Not to mention the new Raptor feels like it was ripped from another game entirely, did R* put their C-Team to work on the new vehicles? Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but it just doesn't sit right that these obscenely expensive vehicles don't function like you'd expect them to, at least from a physics standpoint.

It wouldn't be that bad if they weren't expensive as fuck.

with the RDR2 announcement maybe they are putting the good teams to work and the C-Team to work on adding content for the game.

iirc, Rockstar San Diego deals with Red Dead stuff.
One of my best pals I play GTA:O with just got banned from an online session, he just stood on his apartment building shooting players with his homing launcher and got banned for 10 days straight.
I have very VERY big reason to believe that he is innocent, only thing 'weird' about him is, he bought a shark card while level 4 or something and has been CEO with us and we worked with him, filling up his warehouses and selling and shit, also doing MC work under my lead, he raised up pretty quickly in money and level because of that but we played for 10 hours straight at a time. We already sent a support ticket out.
He is not the cheating/glitching/exploit/modding kinda guy, he lacks the english skills and the technical knowledge for the most part.
Virus or something is also unlikely.
To his knowledge he has not received any hacker dosh from another modder.
Did this also happen to anyone else? Innocent accounts being banned?
The only thing that is very broad in the reply from Rockstar is this:
GTA Online bans are triggered by a number of factors, including [...] interfering with other players’ gameplay experience.
Don't know what to think.
Haha holy shit all the stuff I missed the first time I played. Meltdown is an actual movie you can watch in the game and it's borderline Tim and Eric quality.
Did this also happen to anyone else? Innocent accounts being banned?
There seems to be a decent amount of innocent people getting banned on this game, but I'm not quite sure what the cause is.
The only advice I can give is that he makes sure his GTA V installation is clean(no non-standard files at all) and that he checks what programs he's running in the background. If nothing special results from that, then it's probably safe to say that Rockstar's anti-cheat is fucked up somehow.

Happened to my friend as well. We grinded for like a week straight to get ready for the biker DLC and he got toasted for seemingly no reason. They just wiped $6 million out of his account and he was banned through the release of the biker DLC which he was super bummed about because he wanted to make a video on it for his youtube channel.
Rockstar was about as helpful as a toothache. Didn't listen, didn't consider, just spat out an automated response. Couldn't even tell us why he was banned.

Thats usually how it goes for R* support regarding SCAdmin bans. No actual response, just an automated canned piece of garbage. If you go to the R* Support forum, you're just bombarded with toxic responses which are probably why they stopped responding to scadmin bans.
Anything that hooks to the memory is almost immediately flagged by scadmin and you can expect your ban to come up on the next banwave. Its not an effective system at all. I remember at the beginning of the Finance & Felony update, people where getting banned for commonly used applications such as Discord, overwolf, MSI Afterburner.
Most of GTAO's middleware is absolute garbage.
My own short-lived ban experience lead me to speaking with more Take-Two representatives than Rockstar ones, interestingly. That was the first time I really started getting the feeling GTAO isn't run by the same people who built GTAV, when half of the chain of command are comprised of the parent company's PR and marketing team and they don't know how their own records are stored, nor do they know how their own auto-admin works.
I say short-lived because I actually had the foresight to have a legal rep assist me with that, and the gentlemen we spoke with wound up reversing it in the end. Still not sure whether it was because they didn't want to make it worse for themselves or because they just wanted me to fuck off, but either way that was about the same time they totally shut down the DirectX hook detection (before patching and re-enabling it later), so I like to imagine SOMEONE got the hint. Actually posted about this in the last thread, feels so long ago now.
i have two bans from hacking and im waiting to get banned for 6 months without a reason because of their shitty system
