I'm very displeased with it.
it looks like persona but with Strange Journey's Demon CoOp attacks and some half assed Fire Emblem allusions
Yeah, seems like it. I didn't think it looked much like Persona besides being in a school for the first trailer but the FE characters acting as "Mirages" really just makes it like persona but with a different name [editline]17th June 2015[/editline]
I'm very displeased with it.
I'd like it a lot if it wasn't idol stuff and pretty much no SMT except for Jack Frost being on a sign we got a real life fusion accident it seems
Fuck you Atlus
I just want more Persona 5 where is the Persona 5
At least we'll be getting a new Persona 5 trailer in about a week since it's coming in japan's P4DAN there's a new trailer on that blu-ray disk thing theyre getting
I wrote a longer post but the forum crashed on me for a minute. I'm just so, so disappointed. They took Persona and Fire Emblem from me, and now they are taking SMTxFE. Fire Emblem was going to be canned until they added a shiny, "stylish" art style and waifus and now the next game has you rubbing the cute girls's bodies. There's no going back from that. The series that I once enjoyed for being tasteful in the land of heaving big titties and fanservice while still being a lot of fun is now just that and they're milking that cow for all it's worth by making you buy two games instead of one. Persona 3 added the similar art style and of course waifus. There was no going back from that either. That's why there's 80 different Persona 4 spinoffs with Persona 3 cameos while they pretend the first and the duology never happened other than a cutesy reference here and there. The point is I should have seen this happening with SMTxFE, because of COURSE they would go where the money is and it certainly isn't from something that's not bright, shiny, "stylish", and conducive to merchandising. I should have seen it coming, but I still wanting to believe. The worst thing is the game could have been so goddamned cool. I bought my Wii U for this, man. I almost feel obliged to buy it at this point regardless but if I do it will be used. Not that it matters anyways.
Fuck you Atlus
This has been my only response to Atlus ever since they started milking the fuck out of Persona. That and knowing the next mainline SMT aint happening for another 20 years if ever.
I feel like it would have been better if it just played like a traditional fire emblem game and included themes from SMT, like demons as enemies or something
I would have liked the opposite, I would have liked a regular RPG similar to mainline since we've had TRPG SMT games before but I don't think Fire Emblem has ever had just a regular RPG associated with it. Would have been cool to see them in that context and have SMT characters meet with FE characters through some means, maybe a God fucking around or something and throwing them both in a demon infested world or hell, maybe have both styles [editline]17th June 2015[/editline]
I wrote a longer post but the forum crashed on me for a minute. Not that it matters anyways.
I feel the sentiment for SMT X FE but I don't really agree as far as Persona goes. I think P5 and how it's being marketed shows they aren't entirely into having things be all bright and colorful and generic anime. They could have kept making more Persona 4 type games, but they're going for something far darker and possibly even more reminiscent of earlier games since we're literally going with characters who are criminals. Atlus has also kinda always seemed to like milking anyway, it just happened P4 was popular enough to do it for like 4 games. Every game they've ever released though has had at least one re-release, I mean even Nocturne had three releases in Japan and several novels attached to it As much as I would like them to reference P1 and P2 more often, I can completely understand why they don't since they're the least played in the series. It makes perfect sense that those wouldn't be considered vital to them. P3 and P4 however, are plenty relevant and are what made the series more well known. The thing to remember is that this SMT x FE combo was being run by one of the guys who made the Devil Summoner games, and from those you can see how his style would have probably lead to what SMT x FE is. It was kind of probably gonna go this way from the start, it's just a shame it had to go there after an incredibly misleading trailer.
yo narukami man i'm really happy for you and i'm letta you finish but TATSUYA SUOU IS THE BEST PERSONA PROTAGONIST OF ALL TIME
And there would be no news story after that. Because its true.

They haven't shown anything that has immediately put me off from it (save for the animal mascot character, I think the only time I've never not minded one of those was in Danganronpa) and they seem to at least be overhauling some things, but while I wish I could agree with the points you're making about it, Persona 3 certainly looked like it was going to be a lot darker than it was, too. In reality, I think it can be argued that while it did not go FULL anime like Persona 4 did, it certainly did tread that water, and was a bit of a bait and switch. My fingers are crossed for that to not be the case here, and for social links to actually matter. That would be the neatest change I can think of. Either way, it's going to be the make or break for me.

Either way, it's going to be the make or break for me.
Persona 3 was still pretty dark, but like Persona 2 it still was able to pepper in a lot of fun moments along with the seriousness. I also wouldn't really consider it a bait and switch, since they didn't go OH THIS GAME ISN'T ANIME AT ALL and then give you anime, it was deliberately written from the start to emulate the feeling of an anime, which is why it has such an absurd cast of characters and treats the social links like they're almost individual episodes of their own. It's actually kinda interesting if you read about their ideas for P3 and P4, like P3 was written in the style of an anime series while P4 was written to be like a manga series which kinda supports how its story is basically going in similar arcs for each TV world dungeon. I wouldn't be too worried about it switching, I mean it'd be kinda hard to turn concepts of Slavery and Opression into a completely goofy thing like 4. I don't expect 100% seriousness but I at least expect something like Persona 3. They also changed the Social Link system to be named the "Cooperation" system now, so I have to imagine that means their impact is gonna be greater than just a boost in fusion. I'm sure it'll be something I enjoy anyway because I really enjoy every Persona, going from 1 to 4, but hopefully it'll be something you enjoy too [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] P4 at least was going sorta in the right direction by having your social links give you bonuses in battle and make your party members more helpful, they just really need to go the next step and make it intersect with the plot more

Persona 2? What's that? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ogskOV4.jpg[/thumb]
https://twitter.com/femfreq/status/611229178596233218 Poor Anita, she just wanted it to be Chie instead.
Why'd you post the fake one?
Persona 2? What's that? [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ogskOV4.jpg[/thumb]
Wait, so these palettes are (if I'm not mistaken) -Yukari for Rise (pink shirt, brown hair) -Baofu for Kanji? (black and yellow) -Labrys for whats her name -Yukino (P2) for Naoto -Aigis for Nanako(same ENG VA lol) -Ulala for Margaret -...P3MC? For Yu -Eikichi for Yosuke -Yukari for Chie... Also... -Jack Frost for Teddie -Chidori for Yukiko Man I'm glad I don't want P4DAN cause I'd be tempted to get all those costumes if I did. All the pre-order only DLC, all the pack DLC...
Well, maybe it's because the story is kinda focused around Rise and she's an idol? Or am I mansplaining here?
I wouldn't bother arguing with her 'logic'.
Hey Atlus now that you've remembered P2 is a thing please make another Persona Q with all the mainline Persona characters [sp]and Labrys <3[/sp]
If they really remembered P2 they should release the Eternal Punishment remake in the NA. Doesn't have to be PSP, a PSN release would work.
https://twitter.com/femfreq/status/611229178596233218 Poor Anita, she just wanted it to be Chie instead.
It's not like Rise's entire story is about being terrified of not having an identity outside of being objectified for her looks. Oh. Wait. Also she's dressed EXTREMELY MODESTLY for a pop idol. Jesus Christ people look for anything to bitch about.
If they really remembered P2 they should release the Eternal Punishment remake in the NA. Doesn't have to be PSP, a PSN release would work.
Atlus never releasing any version of Eternal Punishment in Europe is an eternal punishment by itself.
