I remember actually laughing out loud when, after the whole fight in the bathhouse, the first thing that the leader complains about is how Raidou is still wearing his hat.
"Who the hell wears a hat in a bathhouse?!" Or something along those lines...
So... anything but Persona?
[editline]24th January 2015[/editline]
Hell, even Persona when you look at 2.
I already wrote a long ass post about my issues with Persona, but I would not say "anything but Persona." More like anything but what Persona has become. I don't think humor automatically disqualifies something from being either dark or mature, as I have no issue with levity. I am sure I mentioned that I enjoyed Persona 2 quite a bit, though it's also a game I would love to see be thoroughly remade or reworked as I think the gameplay has aged horribly. That doesn't take away from the story or characters at all, it was just a chore to play.
All I'm saying is Digital Devil Saga takes place in that twisted junkyard world populated with feuding tribes, and it's beautiful, with this striking art style, a weird, somber mood, and atmospheric music, all accompanied by this story about people becoming demons and eating everything because they just can't stop, and it doesn't shy away from that concept. That's all I wanted.
Meanwhile, Persona 3 has teenagers shooting themselves in the head to bring out demons manifested from their psyche or whatever and instead of talking about something as interesting as that sounds and the ramifications thereof it just becomes your average anime. I'm only asking for a consistent, thorough exploration of the fascinating themes and hooks being introduced by these games instead of having them dropped or swept aside just to pander to people who want your standard Japanese high school kids in bikinis and wacky anime hijinks. Which, whatever, there's nothing inherently wrong with it and that's clearly where the market is at, but it's not of much interest to me so I think of it as a bit of a waste. I'm not trying to be like "no fun allowed, boo to all of this", it simply does nothing for me, and I feel a little let down that the potential is there but not fulfilled.
Apparently there's going to be a persona livestream the day before persona super live 2015.http://p-ch.jp/news/detail/?nid=232
I never really found any of the ideas they were trying to reach with persona were dropped or swept aside. They accomplish what they wanted to set up and the tone pretty much stayed consistent. But really it's all opinion as to whether you like how Persona is done in comparison to other games or not. I don't think Persona 3 or 4 ever really tried shying away from any of the ideas they presented, it's just that they are, by nature, way different than most other SMT games, and that was pretty much the point.
They're just not really gonna please everyone or be everyone's slice of pie. Every game in the series has ups and downs and it kind of is a shame to me that some people can't find any enjoyment in them like I can, but what can ya do.

No, it'll be groping and nudity covered by Teddie's mask like the stream that revealed P4DAN, PQ and P5.

We could always do with more Ikutsuki.
So, I really like SMT but never actually got around playing any Persona and it never appealed to me in some way. But I watched some videos about P3 and it looked pretty awesome, anyway I decided to give P4 The animation a try because I don't have the possibility of playing any persona game beside of q. Anyway I don't know if I should throw up, just watched the "stormy summer vacation" episodes. I think it's pretty medicore thus far.

The anime doesn't really do P4 any justice. It's not the worst anime ever but its not really a substitute for the game.
P3 is also pretty good, if you can ever emulate it or something it's definitely worth your time.

Persona 4 is a quality RPG/Waifu sim.
Persona 4: The Anime is an anime bastion for Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y. art.
It doesn't help that you went from P3 videos to the P4 anime either, the tone is vastly different. Really, emulation of either game isn't a great hassle.
You can't judge the quality of anime: the game when you watch anime: the game: the anime's sequel.
I've never seen such an awful protagonist, he has the personality of a slice of bread and is so boring. Also the rpg elements stats or something that pop up during the breaks are just so awful.

Boooooo
Boooooo
Ehh, to each his own i guess.
Hm, I actually thought that Yu's character was one of the thingsthat made the anime pretty enjoyable.

He is kind of likeable but somehow he seems like a blank and empty slate, he seems to have not much personality of his own. Although that might have been the intention of the creators to make him evolve over time with each person that he meets but I think it's done in a rather poor way. Also he seems to have no weakness and is just ridiculously good, which makes him quite shallow. That said I actually enjoy the characters a lot, I think the best parts in the series is actually when they don't get involved into the murder cases and it's just kind of silly humor. Although a lot of them are kind of stereotypical.

Yeah that because he's your character. He is supposed to be a blank slate for the player to use how they want.

I can see why they did that, but it is still done in a very poor way in my opinion. I've seen other series and movies who did better jobs at making a character evolve but I guess that is what you have to cope with when you are trying to make a series about a game and stay true and close to the game itself.
In other news, some cool things just arrived :[T]http://i.imgur.com/ou1DpZYh.jpg[/T]
"When Lucifer calls, will YOU pick up the phone?"
I still need to order a bunch of SMT games. Strange Journey was never released outside of Japan or America for some god awful reason, and I don't own Nocturne despite having emulated it for ages.
I'm mad, I just bought a copy of Strange Journey, that isn't the mad part though, I bought a copy of the PS2 version of Persona 4 too even though I own the Golden version, I just love that game so much.
Nononono. In the anime, Yu really starts to liven up after a bit. He made me laugh quite a lot, actually.
Also, I didn't think the art/animation was all that bad, and I think they did a nice job compressing it all into 25 or so episodes. Now... the GOLDEN anime, that's a different story.
plus why would you watch the animation before playing the game that's just silly

Well, I don't have a ps2 and emulation is not an option for me. Actually I just wanted to get a basic grasp on the persona concept because I'm not that into it. Might play the games though at some point.

The animes are not really a way for you to replace the game. If you wanna get the actual experience of P3 or P4, you wanna play the actual games. It's a shame emulation isn't an option, although if you have a PS3 you can buy P3 and P4 on PSN for like under 10 bucks.
The animes are more to watch after you've played the game so you can experience it again but with some new twists on it and stuff.

Damn, I only have a ps4. I don't think my horrible rig could run an emulator. But yeah, I think the animation is a really bad substitute.
Still trying to finish SMT4 at the moment.
