SMT4:A in a lot of ways made me feel like it was a Persona game in a traditional SMT skin, I just felt that the entire mood of the game was really off and the party members you get were a collection of obvious tropes- like more then usual. Toki or whatever kidninjas name in was hot trash and just ughhh.
I actually quite liked Toki, I just didn't like how they forced in a love triangle deal with her and Asahi. I mean it's never a major focal point so i wasn't too bothered but I didn't really think it fit.
Snarky buzzer or not you're actually incorrect. [sp]He survived the car crash due to the Dark Hour and his potential, they're pretty clear about that being around the time he first experienced it. Nyx got sealed in him after the fact by Aigis. They never said Nyx was giving him life, only that Nyx was inside him and that was why Thanatos was inside him alongside his normal persona.[/sp]
[sp]He literally has Nyx sealed inside him duder. He's dead one way or another thanks to having death itself kicking around inside him. Do you think that if nothing would of happened, no tartarus climb, nothing, Nyx would never come out again? His life was over in that car crash.[/sp]

Then I learnt that it also uses a lot of the same areas and music, didn't feel like getting it in the end. Glad that I didn't miss out on anything. Looking forward to play more SMT games.

And that contradicts your point, because he didn't die in the car crash. His fate is sealed to die eventually, but Nyx is not keeping him alive the whole game. The avatar is sitting inside him and is using him as a vessel to get to Nyx, but he doesn't need to be a corpse to do that.[/sp] [editline]21st April 2017[/editline]
Exactly, that's what kept me from getting it despite being hyped. Even with a meh story it's still a fresh continuation to play. [sp] The YHVH fight alone is pretty worth it to me [/sp]

Like they call him and then turn into him and it's why Nyx has that speech with you before the fight. It still doesn't undermine my point that the games theme is accepting death though either way.[/sp] As a aside boy it feels weird to be spoiler tagging a old ass ps2 game

I also don't disagree with your interpretation of the theme, just that your explanation for it was incorrect since he hadn't died in the car crash. He died because he had to essentially sacrifice his soul to seal Nyx away.[/sp] Still good to spoiler tag it since people are likely to go back and play it after P5. I mean technically since we denote there being spoilers in this thread we dont have to, but it's nicer to do it.

But I'm not really going to fully agree about death because once you have literal death itself sealed inside you kinda screwed. Sure you can get up and walk around but your probably not gonna be making plans for retirement anytime soon. I'm also pretty sure it's why the second Ryoji goes away Makoto starts dying right then and there.[/sp] You have no idea how many times I accidentally typed Ryuji's name and boy that would make P3 interesting.

The statue outside the door of Nyx is literally his soul that is now gone from his body. He specifically is still 'alive' at the end of P3 for as long as he is because he wanted to fulfil his promise to meet with everyone after graduation. A piece of nyx (not the whole nyx, as thats why there was parts of nyx that you fight throughout the game) being inside of him has nothing to do with him dying, and actually made him stronger as a result. Him dying and having any form of Nyx a part of him are completely unrelated.[/sp]

And even then he was using his power to survive for three months, it was not instantaneous. And you're also ignoring that it was possible for the protagonist to not actually seal his soul away, as Ryoji can wipe your memories so you live perfectly fine for the three months before Nyx descends, where he dies because of Nyx literally killing everything, not just him.[/sp]
As a aside boy it feels weird to be spoiler tagging a old ass ps2 game
Please never stop spoiler tagging the old Personas, they are great stories (P3) [sp]But, now that the actual facts came to light, what exactly happens when the protag dies? The velvet room is empty, I guess that means that he didn't fill his part in the contract so Igor and Eliz just left. What happened to SEES? Did they follow their mission and get insta-wrecked the moment they destroyed the Hanged Man, since Death was sort of free?[/sp]
halfway to the treasure and [sp] i still hate this god damn pyramid [/sp] though having 2 sp accessory 3s definitely helps.

Dudes still around as the avatar as discussed so it doesn't really deflate that argument really. Also the Answer has the team trying to find out why he died and dude should of been perfectly healthy- yeah it's because of him going up to be the seal but that doesn't explain why there's the 3 months inbetween. Was there just no seal there until he passed? The way I read it is Minato gets in the wreck -> Aegis seals Ryoji in him -> Power grows due to the arcana being defeated -> Ryoji spawns -> The protag doesn't kill him and fights Nyx Avatar and Nyx -> Goes back to his friends now empty and through sheer determination makes it to the ceremony as promised -> Passes away finally able to rest -> Goes on to be a door stopper.[/sp] Also I've been saying protags name is Makoto when it's Minato. Fuckin wooops [editline]21st April 2017[/editline]
Please never stop spoiler tagging the old Personas, they are great stories (P3) [sp]But, now that the actual facts came to light, what exactly happens when the protag dies? No need for the Velvet Room then I guess.[/sp]

The months until the MC died are completely unrelated to the seal as he was just basically a body with no soul.[/sp]
I actually misread what you said, sorry about that. Rewatching some scenes as it's been awhile and I forgot P3 had reaction cut ins with comic sound effects. I totally forgot that was a thing
all this p3 talk makes me want to play 3 again after 5. 3's finale is probably the best video game finale i've ever experienced i hope they do a ps2 on ps4 thing for p3
I want Makoto to sit on my face too.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/hgDexqN.png[/t]
There's actually an issue in the game where (last palace spoilers) [sp]If you get to the point of Shido's palace where Akechi sacrifices himself and then don't complete the palace before the deadline, Akechi still shows up at your house with the police to arrest you even though he's supposed to be dead[/sp]
They better not do fanfics about Hifumi or I'll start a war
They better not do fanfics about Hifumi or I'll start a war
You probably should get ready for war then cuz there's probably fics of everyone at this point probably even one of Funky Student from P4
The way I see it about Persona 3 and the overall theme, [sp]i'd say it's less about 'accepting death' even with memento mori and all that, and more about making the most of life even in the face of death. Especially with how the protagonist influenced everyone, such as by helping Aigis become practically like a robotic human. You even forgive the avatar of Nyx for his existence and can do your best to make sure his limited time in the world before his own inevitable death is the best it can be.[/sp]
So in Persona 2 I can summon Hitler as my persona? GOTY
You probably should get ready for war then cuz there's probably fics of everyone at this point probably even one of Funky Student from P4
I wanted to make a Funky Student account, but I couldn't figure out how to have a space in my username so I gave up.
What kind of SMT games are available on the vita and which one would you recommend? I mostly played SMT4, Devil Survivor, Soul Hackers, P4 and P5. Is Persona 1 or 2 any good? I don't want to mess with overly archaic gameplay mechanics.
They're very hard to play after P3-5 but they're stories are good. P2 is a 2 part game
I really should get Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker I used a rom of DS2 before but couldn't get past some part, so i want to pick it up legit and finish it this time I shouldn't have put every level up into Strength
Devil Survivor 2 is legit my favorite spinoff that isn't Persona, loved it a ton Still need to get the other endings though :C
Finished P5 yesterday. That was a god damn beautiful ride. IMO, I felt like third arc worked a little less than the first two. Then again, I'm a newcomer to this series, so I didn't know what to expect at all, so all the palaces and things like that felt pretty cool. I wasn't too sure on how to feel about the final reveals/bosses, however. Everything about the social life and coop links of the game I felt are amazing. Same for the palaces, which I think are really cool. I would've loved to see more things like [sp]Futaba's palace, where you are helping troubled cognitions more than just punishing evil adults.[/sp] I'm thinking of doing NG+ with Japanese voices to finish all the social links. I'll probably go full harem this time around... if I can find the courage of cheating on Makoto.
So I feel silly for only realizing recently, but Morgana turning into a car is actually a Totoro reference They literally made him Catbus
