god, this is all so befuddling. you have lion game lion saying that this game is different than payday 2 and that there are similarities, but the two games should be looked at differently in their dev streams. then you have this video, and this nuts tie-in, which is like "this is possible because of your support on payday 2! by the way here's a direct beta tie-in /and/ hints at something more??" all of that without even noting the shared engine, similar concept, the plenty of identical aspects... let's be clear about something that also makes this situation worse. that beta that's launching tomorrow? that doesn't look like it's launching from its own client. that menu, the way it's launched through payday 2 literally means you'll probably be in-game in payday 2, but playing RAID tomorrow. if you have any bets against technical nightmares tomorrow, i'd take them away. in true overkill fashion, the 8-30 door was not for content, but an announcement for future content. why not just have it 8-31? did this day of anticipation really matter?? also almir says to watch the video to the end and there's literally nothing at the end except for a title card in short, ???
Ah, the good old cocktease of August 2014. Waiting a whole month for a baseball bat and a game nobody wanted (which ironically still isn't out) was an experience.

whats this
This hits pretty close tbh
Since the other buttons are links to things like the preorder page I'm thinking the beta one is too
God I wish that it wasn't on Diesel. The game would basically look better by default if they used basically any other engine. I don't even know why it looks so bad, and runs like complete dogshit
Since the other buttons are links to things like the preorder page I'm thinking the beta one is too
so you're telling me you think upon pressing that button that: - the game will close - the game will assume you have the game downloaded, and if not, pull it and download - the game will go through all the proper steps to launch the RAID demo in my years on steam, I don't think i've ever seen a game have an option like that. this is the same fanbase that couldn't figure out how to get literally free copies of their game by going to a steam page.

That'd simply be asinine
It'll be a button to the steam store page??
Do you actually think they're gonna patch in the entire beta into the game and open it when we press that button? That'd simply be asinine
I just don't know why they'd make a whole separate page for something, when they could just add the beta to your library and have a tie-in page like they do with everything else ¯\(°_o)/¯
But I mean overkill can be pretty silly, so we'll see. It sounds completely hairbrained even by their standards though. [editline]30th August 2017[/editline] OVK mod from official discord
https://steamdb.info/app/414740/items/ I'm sure you all wanted a Steam Market for Raid. And instead of waiting for whatever Almir has to announce tomorrow, here's info straight from the press release!
PAYDAY 2 players will additionally be able to participate in the closed beta until September 17.

RAID: World War II Standard Edition at $39.99, including: Pre-order exclusive: An Army Crate containing special goodies RAID: World War II Special Edition at $64.99 which includes the Standard Edition plus: Pre-order exclusive: An Army Crate containing special goodies A special version of the in-game car Apple Red Kübelwagen RAID: World War II Base game A RAID: World War II comic book available in-game and as a PDF A decorative bomb for the camp Original soundtrack and the melee weapon “Marching Mace” A special melee weapon “The Admiral’s Dagger” Four exclusive special edition jackets for the characters RAID: World War II Digital Art Book Four exclusive RAID: World War II wallpapers. Fucking Wallpapers lol
I guess I just don't understand putting work into that page is all :vs:
If the games fused together at launch, that'd be neat, but like, not a fan of it just being a massive advertisement ingame
I guess I just don't understand putting work into that page is all :vs:
probably so those "that couldn't figure out how to get literally free copies of their game by going to a steam page" peeps see how to get it
I'm just wondering if their plan is to make August like a character from Raid or something. I'm sure they'll do something to connect the games at some point.

I'm not convinced about Raid tbh, it just doesn't look like a new game. It looks like it came out 4 years ago. The gameplay might be good though, will have to see in the beta.
If the games fused together at launch, that'd be neat, but like, not a fan of it just being a massive advertisement ingame
I bet it will turn out that Payday and Raid will share the same universe, and that Hoxton or someone will be like the descendant of one of the characters or something.
I was pretty sure we already had some kind of link with Aldstone being related to the contractor
I was pretty sure we already had some kind of link with Aldstone being related to the contractor
The Butler's lines refer to Control (aka the contractor in Raid) as his grandfather, so yes. I'm so glad that Payday takes place in the same universe as Raid, Scarface, Point Break, Hardcore Henry, John Wick, and whatever other unrelated IPs I'm missing.
God Raid just looks like a mediocre expansion pack more and more, not a full price title
What I want to know is which version of the engine Raid will be using and if modding support will come fast?
I'm wondering if they'll try to retcon August into the RAID stuff coming out
The Butler's lines refer to Control (aka the contractor in Raid) as his grandfather, so yes. So someone on Reddit found This little juicy tidbit of information on SteamDB
I would prefer more content for Payday (even if it would have been paid) than RAID, to be honest.
Aren't they also working on a third payday game? Could of sworn I heard talk of that around the time they dropped the microtransaction bs from PD2.
Aren't they also working on a third payday game? Could of sworn I heard talk of that around the time they dropped the microtransaction bs from PD2.
Who "they"? Indeed, last february Overkill announced Payday 3 is in full time development. RAID, however, is developed by Lion Game Lion, who previously made some Payday 2 DLC, including Bomb Heists, BBQ Pack and the Golden Grin.

Heck, Diesel 2.0 doesn't allow for any good driving mechanics.
