game keeps crashing for me w/out mods, so I can't really mess with the new weapons. this has also put me off of trying raid for the time being, just because. the safehouse projector has new slides on it, but it just looks like RAID levels. prediction: day 3, the aldstone safe! epics/rares/all that are actually unlocks in RAID 50% of market resale profit goes to LGL
good game
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
So far I think my favorite part of RAID, which otherwise isn't that impressive, is when I sniped a sniper on a cliff, turned to look around, and was staring at an angry nazi for half a second before he lit me up with a flamethrower. [editline]31st August 2017[/editline] Real talk, I'd maybe pay $30 based off what little I've played.
So someone described Raid as a PD2 mod that's being sold for 30 bucks and yeah that seems about right from my time with the game
I dunno, I like RAID. I think while it is more or less a PAYDAY 2 reskin at its core it does quite a few things better such as the lockpicking minigame. Another think that I think it does better is the general format of missions. There's not that much to go by right now but it seems like they're going to end up being much more varied than the ones in PD2 and I like that the one that is there focuses more on several smaller objectives rather than a couple of large ones that take a long time to do. Perhaps if the game wasn't literally built on top of PAYDAY it wouldn't be as comparable, I dunno.
Raid WWII is pretty much Payday the PreSequel
Is there a way to get beta access without having Payday 2 installed?
when you are playing payday 2 just barely good enough on your toaster and go to RAID. performance is brutal. a shame because i cant really give it a fair attempt. (not really the devs fault of course)
I don't really understand why people call Raid pretty much Payday 2 It's got enough differences that make it feel like a new game Especially considering stuff like health and the like is handled very differently It has some nice touches and probably will be a lot better once full release comes out and won't be as restrictive as the beta currently is [editline]1st September 2017[/editline] The only things it shares are a few bits of generic code and Diesel
Thoughts on Raid: - Gun sounds are weak. Might as well be the sound of someone flicking a piece of paper. - New mechanics are neat but... - Gameplay overall just feels off. - Why does it look like a PS2 game? This is 2017. Oh wait, it's Diesel. And on that note, is it me or does it look worse then Payday 2? Yes, it is maxed out. - Live action videos are really cool. This game is a definite pass for me.
The only things it shares are a few bits of generic code and Diesel
I do agree with most of your post but I'm like 60% sure that RAID is built right on top of the PD2 codebase.
raid is a pretty lazy reskin and not really worth the money but it does manag to do a few things better than PD2, lockpicking is actually a minigame and there's no retarded pager system from what i've seen
Yeah, those two elements, plus the body carrying, are the highlights for me. I'm hoping to see a few more unique special types in the full release. The genuine surprise and brief panic when I ran in to the flamer was actually pretty great, and I genuinely felt like they were a thing I needed to avoid. I saw some weirdo with binoculars who I think may have called in an artillery strike because a flare appeared in the direction he had been facing and then it got bombed to shit. The officers would be great for Payday 2 to be honest, roaming around buffing cops as opposed to Winters sitting in the middle of a super-shield circlejerk while his moans make the rest of the cops ultra horny.
I do agree with most of your post but I'm like 60% sure that RAID is built right on top of the PD2 codebase.
Yeah... it's fucking impossible to play this without noticing how much is just lifted out of Payday 2
I'm super into the way these new guns feel, and they're really good to boot. Love the Luger and the M1 a lot, they're some of the most fun weapons to use.
Only took less than a day and we already have a member of the Payday gang in Raid! So...what's coming in the next 2 days?
it's incredibly beta but live action hitler is funny at least
I can't be the only one who feels the guns in Raid feel like, off. Especially with how pitifully weak the shotgun is when I tried it.
Yeah, everything seems to lack impact.
the SMG in particular is hot garbage
I wonder if the shotgun in RAID works like in Payday. Also holy shit, my framerate absolute crap when playing, about 15fps. I knew it was going to be bad since its Diesel, but it doesn't even look that much better in comparison to PD2.

A more fair comparison would probably be release Payday 2 vs RAID. I remember people bitching constantly when PD2 came out how it wasn't like the first game and was awful.

Hell, the Assault class that is described as being the Assault Rifle guy doesn't even have any automatics in the beta, just the pop pop M1 Carbine.
Is anyone else crashing when trying to change video options in Raid?
Does BLT work? I manually updated to version 2 from the Github and it's telling me it, Beardlib and one other mod that I forget right now need updates that it keeps failing.
Raid seems really really slow compared to payday. Guns feel really weak too, so I'm surprised there aren't any gun unlocks apart from attachments. Having no deployables is also strange. It just feels like it's lacking a lot of core features that payday has and replaces them with bad new ones.

A lot is locked off I assume, since you can only get to level 5 when the C96 Mauser requires you to get to at least level 15 for the second set of attachments, and that's the starter pistol.

It's just really trivial stuff like +4 stability for killing 250 enemies with hipfire. The only decent upgrade I've seen was for the m1 carbine, which doubled the mag size.

Main problem I have with the RAID beta is that you have only 2 fucking missions. Really not enough to get a good feel of the game.
