Also to answer your 3 latter questions
There's only a Pacifist run possible. Whether you pacify, spare or even fight and try to kill, the enemies will not perish one way or another. Every battle will net you 0 EXP no matter what, indicating you never really get to kill anyone.
Haven't really found anything pointing to this, but maybe it's just something that hasn't been searched upon further. At least from the surface with a complete first playthrough, the game doesn't seem to acknowledge any save data from Undertale.
It' a secret boss that rewards a strong weapon. You have to find 3 keys scattered around the world to unlock it. Beating it doesn't seem to change anything storywise, but that might possibly change once people manage to dig further into the game.
The party joining joke is the best joke in the whole game.
Also of minor note.
Most characters use a new higher resolution font while talking but sans does not.
So why are the newbies in color while Susie is still in black and white?
all of the fonts, borders and menus in dark world are enhanced but as soon as you get back to the normal world it just returns to standard undertale ui
read this in a youtube comment:
"Considering this game is episodic, I expect this song to become a Love Like You type thing, with new sections added every episode."
that's actually a pretty cool idea.
He is the fluffiest and best boy ever and i want to protect him and see him smile forever and ever
also I'd like to add I really love how this has managed to bring my love enthusiasm for a 3 year old game back, good job Toby you beautiful basrard
yo what d'you reckon the significance of the "i hate quiet people" line being repeated is? like my initial reaction was it showing susie having grown past the person she was originally into someone who was over her violent ways and was now friends with kris, but now i'm all fucked up on that "kris rearranging aspects of reality into the make-believe worlds" theory and i'm freebasing a whole thing of confirmation bias
What if the 24-hour thing was just a Streisand effect thing to make the game blow up?
That sequence when Toriel drives you to school just gave me the warmest of smiles. It was that same feel-good feeling that I experience after going through my first playthrough of the game and reaching the Pacifist ending. Even just seeing Temmie again in the classroom gave me that sudden surge of excitement. It's kind of weird getting that massively enthusiastic feeling on a game that isn't that particularly old but yet it feels like getting a follow-up of a decade old NES game today.
funny, it did with a lot of people as this thread has gone from long dead to fucking 4 pages in a day
Probably because she's a monster like all the other returning UT characters, while the rest of the new characters are just part of the dark world. The other younger monsters like the bird guy are also still in black and white.
It felt like life continued going on for the characters after you left/completed Undertale.
It wasn't until the final scene that I realized deltarune is an anagram of undertale.
I can't believe C-Round- is fucking dead.
Reddit crosspost:
I'm not sure if this has been seen before, so sorry if this has already been found.
The deltarune website has existed for a long time- basically since undertale released. I can't seem to find any references to it before today, although I might have just not looked hard enough.

The first archive of the main page is in july 2016. The site just contained an image: deltarune.com/him.png
This image itself has archives on the wayback machine
The first archive of the image itself is from december 2015
It contains wingdings text reading: "THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT SEEMS VERY VERY INTERESTING"
The image was archived again in december 2016 with updated text.
It contains (darker) wingdings text reading: "THREE HEROES APPEARED TO BANISH THE ANGELS HEAVEN"
So uh, yeah
What was that
This is actually a neat observation because the Kickstarter for Undertale reached the stretch goal at $45k for 'Undertale Extra Comics and...?'. It just kind of gives further confirmation a lot of the foreshadowing that was seen back in the original game was technically planned already since development or at least until before Undertale's official launch, and this survey/chapter 1 entry is finally it coming into fruition.
Wishful thinking, but maybe this also means the wait for chapter 2 and the general conclusion might not be so far off from now as well, assuming this has been something toby has been working on for a couple of years now.
No one said for free; just that more chapters are coming.
It felt like revisiting an old friend. Sure I beat undertale only a month or so ago when I got a copy for Switch, but it felt real good just seeing and hearing characters do stuff that's not just new, but canon.
Feels good that there's finally a main character's outfit that represents the untapped fanbase of seafoam green.
I really love his design, it's so adorable. Reminds me a lot too of Niko from OneShot, which is appropriate since I feel like both games kind of belong in that same genre of lovely role-playing adventure in a fantasy world with a darker undertone beneath the surface with a large dash of 4th-wall meta breaking elements.

He looks better with the hat on than off, imo

Maybe that's an unpopular opinion, but I hope that the gamewon't go too far into meta/fan theory territory. It may be fun to speculate about Chara or origin of sans, but I loved the original game for it's touching and nuanced story, not for Gaster, parallel universes or whatever. And for now i'm a bit worried. The game is fun and well written, but it takes place in some kind of parallel universe (I hope that there won't be any direct connections to the original game) and is focused around Chara (or a similar character) - one of the most problematic characters in UT (their reasoning wasn't really clear, so they were more of a shallow creepypasta-tier jumpscare material than anything else). And, to be honest, Kris is not really fleshed out here in any meaningful way. I know that it's just a first chapter and that MGS2 is a proof that you can pull that kind of trick gracefully (and I really like the eerie feeling of a 'remixed' UT world - it reminded me a lot of the third season of Twin Peaks). I'm still excited, but also can't shake off the feeling that DR's story is dangerously close to turning into something like Kingdom Hearts.
This game I've just realised is

Unfortunately for you, I can't help but feel that's exactly where this is going- despite everything seeming to be the future, it'll almost certainly is a prequel, given Undyne not knowing Alphys and Bratty not knowing Catty (or maybe Catti is the sister of the one we see, my memory fails me).
We'll probably find out more about Kris and see them fleshed out, but I also think that that's Chara's actual name- we only think Chara is the true name because of a joke Toby made regarding undertale trailers. Their origin, Sans' stuff, and other background things will probably be explained, surrounded by new characters and things from each chapter.
Unlike KH though, it'll probably be compelling and HOPEFULLY won't include time travel
