More thoughts on Deltarune
Going off certain small details in game...
Deltarune takes place in 202X according to manual. So ten-ish years after Chara first fell in.
Kris is Chara, given the timeline.
Kris is a vessel. This is why we can possess him. Gaster(Or whoever's speaking at the start) also confirms it in the beginning.
Souls share control of their host according to Asriel.
Humans cannot absorb human souls. We know this from Undertale.(Likewise monster cannot absorb monster)
So how did Kris lose his soul and become a vessel like Flowey was? We know he had one, the original plan in UT wouldn't have worked without it as Asriel wouldn't have been able to leave. Did they still go through with the plan but Kris's body survived somehow? Did they try to revive him by injecting determination?
I'm also trying to work out how the barrier shattered. The 7 flowers in Asgore's shop are the biggest clue I can find. They correspond to the human soul colors from Undertale. They're kept as if they're being venerated like monsters do to items dust is scattered on. But as far as we know, humans don't turn to dust when they die.(There were coffins for the kids, Asriel carried Chara's body, Toriel also carried Chara's body into the ruins) Are they simply mementos of the humans they used to shatter the barrier or is there something else going on here? Some big incident drove Asgore and Toriel apart again in this timeline. Asgore's still in a depression spiral(He's not paying his rent, his home's a mess, his truck's a mess), but his behavior seems to indicate he feels guilty about something. He's giving flowers away to everyone in town.

I don't think the timeline happened here the same way we think- there never were the human souls within the cases, the mutated monsters have graves instead of being mutated, undyne doesn't know alphys, and no talk about what there was before. Either monsters were never put underground, or the barrier was shattered before Kris attempted suicide. Maybe that theory about gaster was correct and he ended up breaking the barrier instead of shattering himself?
They're playing on new Fountain of Dreams on stream now and it looks SO GOOOOOOD.

Don't really understand why people are using masculine pronouns for Kris, they're referred to with 'they' in the game and Kris is spelled like this is an androgynous name.

There's 8 different bodies(probably from the 8 humans) you can select at the start of a new file. What would happen if you made kris and also give him his name?; The body itself can be made by looking at the sprite but everything else could be guessing and ingame clues.
