I know there was a long wait between the undertale demo and the actual release, but I have a suspicion that Toby is very well prepared this time around.
Didn't play the original ever, got overly spoiled by the let's plays. Won't make the same mistake for this one.
I always get sucked in too in any sort of character creation in games in general, so I almost felt the same yeah.
One thing that makes me hopeful in that the vessel might play a role in some way in the future, even if just a minor thing, is that the game does uses 'your name' from your input on the save files.

Plus the machine that-thrashes-your-ass is accurate to what we make during the game, and the ending almost makes me think the SOUL that gets thrown out might need a new vessel to be contained in.
One interesting concept is the idea of working against your own party members in the fight sequences. I wonder if that will play into the next game, given that, if we're still playing as Kris, our interests are counter to that of another entity also controlling our body. Will we have to prevent our other half from killing people?
Another interesting element is that the whole combat system doesn't actually make sense in the context of the town. In the underground or in the dark world we're encountering weird monster things that we don't know, so they attack us, but in chapter 1 we're in our home town filled with well adjusted suburban folks. So what will the gameplay be like? Maybe days are slice of life, while nights are us preventing ourselves from murdering, and that's where the combat system comes in.

If that's the case, fuck it, I'm tempted to pay for the actual game just to see my boy/girl Compass for real.
I just want to say its seriously heartwarming to see this thread alive and kicking again.
and god damn you toby fox for playing with my heart again, I barely survived the first game's ending and I feel this game is going to be 4x worse playing with my emotions every chapter.

It seems as if that cage has been used as a soul container before. Perhaps Kris knew we were coming or had been possesed like this beforehand. Makes ya think, what if the player is pushing THIER ideals on someone else? Even if Kris is a shitty person, uus dictating thier actions is a horrible thing to do.

Kris/Chara/The fallen child knew we couldn't resist coming back to see our friends given the chance so used it to bait us in for thier own ends. Ends to be determined at a later dog.

I think chapter 2 will be deep in town stuff (we gotta have a playdate with papyrus sans' brother, after all), but will be limited to overworld UT stuff- talking, decisions, etc. The only combat will be in the Dark World, but even then I don't know if it'll stick to the same format given it'll probably be a separate executable.
Anyone got a savefile of just before the superboss? I saved over mine and want to fight him again.

Can you tell toby to properly initialize self.deschaver in obj_darkcontroller_Draw_0? It's never initialized and you can get a crash because of it.

mettaton does exist. he's the one who answers when you knock on the door of the ghost house
I assumed it was him on the house that looked like Napstablook's house. I forgot his exact line but he ended his dialog with darling. I'm assuming in this world Mettaton is still a ghost without a body like in his backstory.
