I am not going to lie, Lancer kinda feels like Papyrus 2.0 for me. Not much of a bad thing though, I love both of them.
Reading that TwitLonger post from Toby is really heartwarming. Ever since Undertale was released he's had this humble tone whenever he talks about the game, and after reading his thoughts on DeltaRune it's really inspiring to hear how he thinks about his skill and work ethic to really make something good.
have a chalk eating loser https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/8eac0a97-be08-4950-846e-24f6fb4a4233/chalk eater.png
My only worry with him releasing the demo this early means he might have shown his hand just too soon and his fear about the game not living up to the hype people make for it could be realized. Conversely, had he saved the demo till he was closer to being able to set an actual rrelease date he woulda driven up hype in advance of its launch and pulled a business move that a couple million dollars worth of talented sales and marketing team would be envious of. Also I guess now we know that the 202X written on the manual in the game files isn't the date the game is set, it's the date it's due to release.
Well, this is lame. I'll wait regardless.
I don't doubt some fun conspiracy stuff could be in there, but as a game dev hopeful, that moment spoke to something more intimate and personal than I expected. I have moments, ideas and characters I've fallen in love with in a way I can only imagine to what he saw in Deltarune in 2012. Much like this demo though, my ideas will likely not be seen for years, if they'll be seen at all. While a lot of game dev is learning your craft, hitting milestones, etc... it's also about not forgetting why you love this tough industry. What stories you were told and wanted to tell because of them - and how it's aged alongside you.
o hey i thought that blue bird guy in the library looked exceptionally weird. apparently he's the alt version of the Gaster follower that didn't have a corresponding character in Undertale https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/comments/9tbs15/we_finally_found_g_follower_3s_corresponding/
Aww that sucks. I was really hoping we’d get a release date today. Props to him on the good work though. I hope he finds a good team with a lot in common with him, I really appreciate him not collecting Kickstarters and preorders. im disappointed but not in an unsatisfied way, I really like what deltarune has to offer. I’m excited for the future when hopefully a full game does come out.
if you think october 4 is a while in advance, toby shared a screenshot of some deltarune work from 2012.
Yup! His sprite when speaking is even closer to being exactly the Gaster Follower NPC https://puu.sh/BUR68/4a932146ee.png
Went in blind somehow. Despite having no expectations, I'm still blown away by my first and last thoughts being "Holy shit the Fish Waifu is now a cop! itt can't get any better from here." Didn't think I could get any worse but here I am!
Here's a theory from /v/ that I like. Posting the exact quote. "I think I figured out Just who exactly Relsei is. He isn't Asriel.  The first Dark World was made up of the items inside the spare classroom, and it was powered by the new Dark Fountain. Ralsei is from a different kingdom, which means he's likely an item from somewhere else in town.  He's the fucking red horns that Kris used to wear when he was pretending to be a monster. It's why Ralsei has red/pink horns instead of the standard white. His name is an anagram of Asriel, because Kris used those horns to try and pretend he was more like his brother."
Saw someone on reddit point this out about Kris' scarf. Linkeridoo just in case
Another /v/ theory that I want to be true. "I have worked out what the ending means. >Kris is a wierdo prankster jerk, but he's not a psychopath by all accounts >Toriel has baked a pie which she has asked you to not touch until tomorrow >Sans mentions that Toriel told him she has to lock the house up at night, or else you sneak chocolate during the night >If Kris is not a serial killer, why does he have the knife and why does he lock you up in the cage he keeps in his room? The conclusion I have come to is that Kris is going to eat that whole damn pie and there is nothing you can do to stop him"
I am just hoppin' in and I dunno if it has been discussed yet but what the heck is up with the creepy bunker.
nnnnnnnnnobody knows or will know for years, but it's worth pointing out that the sound it makes when you approach it is the sound from Gaster's entry #17 in Undertale, just slowed way the fuck down.
dang, well that's a kicker. another thing that kinda bothers me but I haven't looked it up is using the cell phone in the Dark World, to me it sounds like some encoded audio or sorts. Unless of course this was reused from the first game and I just forgot.
The cell phone audio in the Dark World is also similarly Gaster's hidden entry #17
god damn
That and also the shop keeper straight up quotes entry 17 if you fought the secret boss, using that weird phrase "darker yet darker" while talking about an encounter with some mysterious person. It's all clearly deliberate but whooooo knows what it means
we're the experiment but yeah shame about the big gap in development, a bit bittersweet but I'm sure people will manage.
That /v/ comment is extra cyclical because currently /v/ is having a bunch of surprisingly positive and constructive threads and everybody in them is resigned to the fact that they have a week at best until you aren't allowed to like it anymore.
This is how long we have to wait until Deltarune is finally finished https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58209/3eaad8c0-9bbd-4e76-8e72-17d1170b096f/Deltaparch.jpg
Shite theory 3 The dark world people keep making reference to how lightners brought them into the world or made them or something along those lines and then abandoned them for some reason. The shopkeeper seam, who looks like an old beat up toy, makes mention how any help or healing comes too late for an old darkener like him. So I think "the dark world" is created by the stories and games kids would play with thier toys. Making kings out of cards, soldiers out of chess pieces, feilds out of game boards etc... Don't forget could refer to someone asking children not to forget the worlds they built and characters they gave life. Shite theory 4 Someone, maybe the player entity took suzie on a fake adventure using the whole "dark world" thing in order to get Suzie to be a better person/be friends with Kris or some thing like that.
Nah man you gotta spell it like this: GOD. DAMN IT.
I chuckled at the scene, but in the back of my head I couldn't help but hear and picture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLHZ-5M0gVw
Since enemies runs away before you are able to kill them, is there a point to stick with act and mercy? Toby Fox said in a interview there won't be multiple endings, so it seems how you fight won't matter in the big scheme. I think that is a shame because I like how Susie always attacks the enemy which adds a whole new level to a pacifist run.
Yeah everything plays out mostly the same. Though I just recently found out that there are some sequence and cosmetic differences. If you were violent and fought the enemies until they ran away, Susie will cast a sleep spell on the King instead and the darkerners are being held at bay by Lancer before they get to you. In contrast to true pacifist where you pacify and spare everyone, Lancer and the darkerners overthrow and lock up the King instead. Otherwise the outcome is the same and you don't get any EXP from anyone.
Guys I solved the mystery behind the Alvin drawing
How I do defeat Jevil? I can't find a way to avoid getting hurt when he cast that carousel attack, and since it deals a lot of damage, that means that Ralsei is going to get almost always down. And then how I can avoid the 2nd variant of the sycthe attack, since I can't almost avoid the big red one? How many turns casting hypnosis are needed to defeat it? Attacking him seems to take really, really long ( never managed to get his health lower than 4/5 ).
