Anyone know exactly what the right stick does when you're in the close combat mode? It seems like a charge attack of some sort, but the boss always hits me before it gets anywhere.

I've seen some complaints about parry timing not being exactly on the sheen and sound effect. I don't see how that's a complaint :v: That said, just made it to the final boss. Fucking HELL.
I've kinda felt like the parry timing is off a bit, but that may just be because I have vsync on. The game feels like it's chugging if it's off.
Does parrying reset the charge?
I haven't used it that much, but I think you only lose the charge when you hit the boss (which does about a full combo's worth of damage) or when you get hit yourself.

Keep trying to parry third boss' strikes but I'm always just a bit too early or too late so I keep dying on the final stage.

Hard mode boss 3 is completely stomping my ass with the second phase of his bullet hell segment.
Man I don't know why but I can't bring myself to play this more. I finished the first two bosses and had a blast and I'm running around being like "Yeah Furi is awesome give it a shot!" but when the controller is in my hand I'm just ehh. I really should push more into it.

The soundtrack is perfection though no doubt, I've been thinking about picking up the vinyl.
I'd say it's the kind of game where you do a boss or two and then don't touch it for a while then you tear through it.
I'd say it's the kind of game where you do a boss or two and then don't touch it for a while then you tear through it.
That's kind of how I played it. I'm super into it but the fights can be exhausting and you need a break after a while :v:
I really dont get the 4th guy. He has a grab that can take a fifth of your health and its unavoidable. That cant be right.
I really dont get the 4th guy. He has a grab that can take a fifth of your health and its unavoidable. That cant be right.
you can shake him off before he can do any real damage
He does a shitload of damage in general. His goddamn wall burst in the third stage close combat keeps killing me because it does three ticks of damage.
Beat the final boss. Story was surprisingly interesting, despite how simple it was.
Beat the final boss. Story was surprisingly interesting, despite how simple it was.
It kinda' surprised me how straightforward things got in the end. There's all this cryptic rambling on the part of The Voice but by the end of the game I found myself with very few questions.
on the third boss; this bastards phases man. Agreed that a one on one multiplayer mode would of been really cool
The key is to hit hard instead of fast, and exploit the green orbs for heals.
youre gonna have fun in hard mode because 90% of the green orbs on all the bosses are taken away. you have to do the entire phase in one go with parries being the only healing source.

You just have to get better at either dodging the orbs that are there or be good enough at parries to consistently get HP back.
Yoooo this game is so good. On Boss 4, his bullet hell last phase is kicking my ass.
Picked up the vinyl even though I shouldn't have. I have been so hype for this game since it was announced, and playing it at Pax East furthered the hype. It really has succeeded my expectations, and is probably one of the most rewarding games I have ever played.
In order to get S rank I imagine you have to beat the boss without getting hit once?
In order to get S rank I imagine you have to beat the boss without getting hit once?
It depends on the boss and the difficulty. On default difficulty you have to do it in less than ~5 minutes for the shorter bosses and ~10 minutes for the longer ones. You can get hit about 5 times for the shorter ones and 15-30 for the longer ones. You also can't get KO'd once. Furier difficulty has a higher threshold for getting hit and finishing the fight.
Just beat it. What a fantastic fuckin game, I really hope they do another one. Looks like I missed a secret Voice encounter on [sp] the field at the end[/sp] tho, so I'll have to try and find that on the next playthrough. Also that 8th boss, the samurai guy, was surprisingly easy. Should've made him an earlier fight tbh, I beat him in one go no problem whereas the boss before I was fucking suffering on.
Anyone else get sudden frame drops on some bosses? I can be running the game easily 200+ fps, but then suddenly it can tank down to 30 for a few seconds.
Also that 8th boss, the samurai guy, was surprisingly easy. I just can't get used to his timings.
The timing was fine except for the waves on the last phase. That part took me forever to get down. Parries were ez tho. Also on PS4 phase transitions and KOs can make the game chug for some reason.
