Metal Gear Megathread V - Kojima's been wanting out since MGS2

Noob question: Do potatoes grow even when the game is turned off? Or does the game have to be running?
everything happens serverside so they'll continually grow even when you're not playing.

The the farm stuff grows when you're not there. If you come back after a long time you can end up with a lot of shit.
Ah man, what a relieve. I've been running low on food for the entire game so far, can't wait to get some tatos.
Can you build speakers or something so you can blast some sweet tunes at base camp? I found some nice cassettes and I'd like to listen to them.
Question on food spoilage: So, I noticed rations and smoked goodies don't 'degrade' but what is the rate of said degradation for other foods?
Raw meat/veggies/milk do noticeable spoil rather quickly, but do roasted foods and soaps do too? If so, is this time determined by in-game time or serverside time?
i haven't had a single roasted food item spoil, so maybe it's bugged.
The radio is great, I've got this rad-ass techno music blaring right outside the tents.

MG2 Snake theme is great
Did the servers go down or something? i was about to do the final mission and it kicked me out, now it wont connect :v:
Could be steam, happened to me yesterday
Could be steam, happened to me yesterday
Yeah, suspect it might be steam. We got booted from a salvage game yesterday because of steam's servers deciding to die for ten minutes.
Angry Joes review is so shit it sums up everything wrong with people reviewing survival. They play the game for 3 hours and try no other way of killing zombies besides what they were told to do in the tutorial.
At this point all that matters is what it means for Konami's bottom line, people that hate it won't change their minds, people that like it are heard.
All that's left is does Konami like their profits enough to go forward and let Yota and the others make MG6 or are they gonna call this their last non pachinko venture into MG

They're a public company right? They release quarters?
I don't want mainline MG games from Konami, but I welcome more MG spinoffs if they're more creative than survive.

Metal Gear Kart
[sp]everyone is piloting a Metal Gear and they're racing each other[/sp]

The main story is thoroughly done and dusted now. They'd be stupid to try continuing it or cramming more into the past (not that I really trust Konami to not be stupid with it). I definitely think spin-offs would be the only way forward at all.

Or Anarchy Reigns: Metal Gear edition.
Lotta people torn about what they want, Dunkey wants Metal Gear 6. He seemed to think it aughta be like MGSV bi-annually like Assassins Creed, just with new characters besides Snake kind of like the Captain.
Do we really need a new mgsv every couple years?

I wouldn't want that even if Kojima was still at Konami.

i think that was a goof
i doubt anyone actually wants that
i would've loved to see some kind of peace walker type mgs where its just fun adventures in coop with tons of gear progression and shit but i dont think the current team is at all up to making that
a not super story focused coop stealth game would be dope
like the plus parts in mgs:poops plus

I just want Peace Walker on PC.
I loved almost every aspect of that game, even the damage sponge vehicle fights.
I only hated the RNG-y outer ops fights and rewards. I remember I was missing a certain item and I had to replay an outer ops like 8 times to obtain.
i loved peace walker but fuck those tank fights

Why didn't you like them?
http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Peace_Walker_vehicles
The harder ones (Each vehicle model had two variants, and a custom extra hard version of each variant) took alot of damage to kill, but once you beat them, you felt satisfied as fuck. It was only annoying if going for a non lethal or stealth run as the pilots vision is very weird and he could even see you with stealth camo on sometimes. You had to fulton, then wait for troops to be dropped off, then fulton more, until they run out of troops and the pilot peeks his head out.
If spotted, you had to kill all of the troops, then do enough damage to the vehicle to make the pilot peek his head out. (or if it's a heli, damage the canopy enough to bust it)
99% of my vehicle battles were lethal with intent to kill the pilot and capture the vehicle.
The most irritating aspect IMHO was how in certain battles (and even APC fights if you kill them fast enough) the vehicle doesn't drop troops off, and they just "teleport in" via flash grenades.
Outside of that I thought the battles were fun, but they required you to bring a fuckton of ammo and weapons. I always went for the fuel tanks to stop it for a bit, then put anti tank mines in front and behind it so he'll run them over once he gets his engine running again.
My favorite was the MBTK-70 and bomber as the missiles and carpet bombings definitely were unexpected to see.
the tank fights were all fairly easy if you scaled up your arsenal alongside them
what wasn't easy though was the last gear rex fight, that shit was fuckin outrageous
i didn't play it enough to do so, it was grindy from what i remember

somebody made a guide to all the containers. now to wait for a guide to all the boxes.

Yet another reason to keep ignoring what Dunkey says, IMO.

Personally I just want MGS to take an eternal nap at this point. MGR2 would be fantastic but I wouldn't die unhappy without it, honestly. MGR was a nice big slice of cherry pie and I can die happy knowing it exists.
I wish we could change the color of our guns. I want my shotgun to be black so it matches my outfit.
just saw a dude with full orange gear, guess the game being online only isnt even stopping the hackers lmao
You can crack almost anything in this game with Cheat Engine just like MGSV.

I actually really liked the outer ops and the sitrep aspect to them. Watching the silly things my troopers did only helped with bonding with them.
In fact, that and the little quotes they have all made them more important to me than any Diamond Dog or Base Camp Survivor. I really wish Base Camp was more lively, but the budget probably didn't allow for 'unnecessary' conversations, animations and voice-lines.
I think there's some genuinely interesting stuff that could be done seeing as the Captain isn't an innate super-soldier, or a father to his men, and he's probably just playing everything by ear and trying to emulate Big Boss after being forced to command an outpost. Even then, the atmosphere at the camp is much more relaxed- people wear what they want or what's useful for their job, they take a minute to go out and stretch or walk about, things like that.
