Basically what I've been saying about Ruckus. He is a really good character, but he cannot be the only FL. But put him on a team with any of the other 3 (Mostly Fern or Barik), and he becomes sooo good.
Makoa is slightly the same way, but he can still negate 100% damage, unlike Ruckus.
I think they should redesign Ruckus to work more as a flanker.

Here's some footage of that bow champion that was teased btw.

Ultimately, Fernando stands apart from the rest of the frontline characters in some ways as the only true "tank" of paladins. If you want a character able to hold a point in spite of fire, the other frontlines won't do near as good a job.

I think as the character roster expands, Ruckus will fall in to a better spot. The main thing I might change with him is altering the damage reduction ability to be allowed to be used away from the objective, or changing it to something different.

Ruckus' Q is one of the least dynamic skills in the game
With his shield, especially if you have the cards that let you heal for its duration, there's a lot more decision making involved: Do I activate it for the slow, even though I could make better use of the shield later? Do I try to prevent as much damage now, or should I wait til my HP goes down and heal for more? Do I save it? Do I use it for more pressure? etc etc etc
the decision making process with his Q is:
near a point? use it
not near a point? can't use it
In case you missed it.
Earn up to 225 Crystals this weekend by playing Paladins! Collect 75 Crystals for completing 3 First Wins of the Day EACH day, Friday through Sunday!
wow I'm pleasantly surprised by how not bad this is. I played during the closed beta and it was really rough
the weirdest thing is that some of the more 'rip off' seeming characters like the dragon and the dwarf are better or at least more fun than their overwatch counterparts?
I love Overwatch, but I would say a lot of the Paladins "counterparts" feel better to play.
Drogoz is better character than Pharah because he can actually move through the air, unlike Pharah who just kind of floats there. Higher TTK also helps him from from being bullied out of the sky as easy.
Barik feels better because his turrets or more disposable and he has to keep track of them less while also fulfilling more of a tank role as well. Overall, I think combat engineers always fair better than full ones.
I also prefer Makoa to Roadhog, mainly because he's just less of a one trick pony. I mean I love playing RH, but the hook is literally the only thing going for him. Whereas Makoa has a shield to protect allies and a higher impacting ultimate (imo).
Though I will say that I like Soldier more than Viktor. I like Viktor, but Soldier just feels better to play imo.

Look at this blatant ripoff!!!!!!!!!!!!
[sp]kidding, this argument has always been retarded. even back when people said overwatch was a tf2 ripoff[/sp]

I will have to disagree about Pharah. Pharah has better mobility than (without custom deck) Drogoz.
Convinced a friend of mine to try Paladins, within like 5 hours of playing he bought the Founder Pack :v:
Why the fuck did they buff wrecker?
Here's the changelog for 0.37: http://paladins.gamepedia.com/Paladins_Beta_Version_0.37
It's supposedly coming out on the main client today.
At this point I'm convinced that Hi-Rez is purposely making heroes that people who play Overwatch will instantly be familiar with, and then they throw a random amalgamation of abilities with a theme slapped on it, not that I think it's a bad thing mind you, but holy shit is that new hero random, sand pillars, craps out copies while invisible? That's about as random as Androxus' Kit (that said it often ends up being more fun than their ""Overwatch"" inspiration / counterpart.
Also those new boxes are literally designed to drain gambling addicts' money :v: .

Believe it or not, Blizzard did not invent the concept of characters who fight with bows. Besides using a bow they play nothing like the bow character in OW. And doesnt' OW also have paid rng crates even though you have to buy the game to play it? We could go on like this forever so I'd suggest not trying to do comparissons for no good (positive) reason.
Also if you read the changelogs, you'd know they scrapped the sand pillars mechanic.
I was kind of hoping that he would have a similar skill set to Anhur in Smite if they kept the sand pillars.
Making a pillar and impaling them to it is really fun in Smite, but I'm not sure how effective it would be here.
Sha Lin is pretty fun and doesn't feel useless like Kinessa. I was also wrong in thinking his Planted would be bad, thing decimates shields.
I also appreciate that he can't get headshots. I would not have liked Hanzo 2.0 in Paladins.
he's interesting but the arrow hitboxes are insane, kinda feels like hanzo 2.0 because of that
he's interesting but the arrow hitboxes are insane, kinda feels like hanzo 2.0 because of that
Game has some weird hitbox in general so that's more of a problem with everyone. At least he can't headshot. v:v:v
Funnily enough, I think I've had less hitbox issues with Makoa's hook then with Roadhog's though.
So what do you guys think the best ultimates are? I would personally say that the 5 (ish) best ultimates in no particular order are:
Accursed Arm, Immortal, Dragon Punch, Dark Serpent/Evil Mojo, and Dome Shield
I'd put king bomb on there as well
No doubt King Bomb is a great ultimate, but I think it's a little bit too telegraphed to compete with something like Accursed Arm in pure kill power. Dragon Punch is telegraphed too, but I think it being a guaranteed kill on all the tanks (Besides Fernando with his ult up.) puts it slightly above King Bomb.
I think all the ultimates in the game are good with Headhunter being the exception. Buck Wild also isn't amazing, but Buck is a better character than Kinessa, so he can actually make use of a damage boost better than her, imo.
I'd place pip's pretty high up there in some circumstances. Both Evie's and Pip's are really more of support ultimate, but they do their job very well.
I'd say Evil Mojo and Dark Serpent are tied in the big CC ultimates. Both are really good at that they do, but both have opposite downsides to each other.
Evil Mojo lasts longer and lowers the enemy hp to 1500, but it's blocked by shields and you have to kill them during it or else they'll just get all their health back.
On the other hand, Dark Serpent goes through all shields and all damage done to feared enemies stays unlike EM. Feared enemies are also easier to hit than polymorphed enemies. But DS trade off is that it doesn't last as long as EM, so you have a smaller time frame to kill.
I think accursed arm is easy to shut down, so I'd put time bomb instead in the top 5
Is it just me or is Sha Lin really freaking annoying?
Just everything about him is annoying to me.
You know what, I'm actually going to say that Evie's is the strongest ultimate in potential. Not because of it's capability alone, but because it can be so paired up to all but guarantee a double or triple kill, as it slows and cripples targets for 4 seconds, where other ultimate can be avoided or mitigated. But alone it is one of the weaker ones.
I'm starting to like this game more than Overwatch tbh. Might just be the burn-out talking but I find this game much less mindlessly hectic and more enjoyable.
I once got heavily burned out on OW because it takes so long for updates with actual content to happen. Whereas Paladins seems to update every 2~ weeks.
Also, feel free to disagree with me, but I personally think Paladins has better balance than OW right now. :pudge:
