Well with all these nioh recommendations I'm going to get through it one way or another.
For diablo I've never been able to get into that style of rpgs, it's never really clicked with me for whatever reason.
I've heard that shadow of war is rather grindy, and I did generally enjoy the first game but with some of the stuff I've heard about their practices there I'm not terribly inclined to grab it.
diablo is incredible for the couch co-op
should i get everybodys golf? it has a pretty good discount on the digital version atm
If you have £15 get everybody's golf it's really fun
diablo is incredible for the couch co-op
I don't have anyone to do couch coop with so rip.
For nioh + abyss. I gave it a shot, got to around layer 15 (which isn't much in the grand scale of it) but it's really not my thing, it's less dungeon (not really dungeon at all) and more boss rush with side objectives to try to make it less annoying.
So it's back to looking for something else I guess.

I bought it full price on launch and it was still one of my best "bang for your buck" purchases. If anyone here likes arcadey golf games, or just chill games in particular it's a must buy.

how do you unlock fishing? do you beat a VS charecter it seems you dont get a cart until you beat someone
how do you unlock fishing? do you beat a VS charecter it seems you dont get a cart until you beat someone
I think carts were unlocked for me upon getting to the second tier or whatever it's called, but I didn't even know fishing was in the game lol. I'd imagine it's the same idea for that, so maybe you unlock it at the third tier?
Played Hidden Agenda with 4 players and it's pretty fun. The competitive mode tho can be immersion breaking with it's pop up and announcer but it's not too bad. We played for a out 2 hours and made it through 2 out of the 5 chapters.
So one of the reasons I bought a PS4 very recently (couple months ago) was because I thought the Gravity Rush series looked pretty neato. I've now beaten the first game, beaten the second game, and I still keep playing it anyway because wandering that world and the online functionality they built into it is so much fun. I now have 80 hours into it, plus 10ish for the first game.
It's pretty fucking good. With these two games alone I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth out of the PS4.

I'm quoting something I wrote elsewhere, but this is in combination with playing through Nier Automata a couple months ago (on PC) and absolutely falling in love with it. It's relevant to this thread because it's this sort of thing that I was hoping to get out of a PS4, and the wacky JP developers that make games for it. I'm really happy with this purchase.
Nier Automata and Gravity Rush are two games that I love. While they are very different in their subject matter and tone, in the grander scheme of things I feel they are actually quite similar. They both represent what that I’ve come to value in games: a strong vision, voice, and heart.
Making games at the high end, especially so today, takes very large teams of people. It’s not often that games have a strong and singular direction with these team sizes, stakeholders, and so much money on the line. In recent times, those kinds of hyper focused games have been relegated to those by small and fluid indie teams. Every once in a while though, through miraculous circumstances in the big budget corporate world, your Nier Automatas and Gravity Rushes are allowed to happen.
Both of these games have problems. They make design decisions that don’t quite make sense out of context, and can be detrimental at times. However, without these deliberate and calculated risks, these games simply wouldn’t be the same. Gravity Rush without its “bad” controls wouldn’t reinforce the mechanisms of gravity shifting, along with the characterization of Kat’s own clumsiness, and headstrong approach to problem solving through the player’s firsthand experience. Meanwhile, without Nier’s “bad” pacing and somewhat dull first and second act, both its themes of existentialism and purpose, as well as critical moments of the plot towards the back half of the game, would lack the same impact. Nier affected me in a way that very few games ever have, and it’s a powerful example of how video games can be used to tell stories in a way that no other medium can.
Where these games succeed is in their “soft” parts: the art direction, the characters, music, and writing. Through that, they overcome their weaknesses and become greater than the sum of their parts. There is a very clear vision behind everything that makes these games what they are, flaws and all, and that’s something that in recent years I’ve grown to appreciate and love. These are games that people involved wanted to make, and that their directors and crew were allowed to realize in a wonderfully uncompromised fashion.
Anyone here play the high definition version of Shadow of the Colossus on PS3? I have an Xbox One unfortunately, and I've been wanting to play the game again since the last time was back on the PS2 shortly after the original came out. I wanna try the PS3 version on my classic fat 40 GB model that I've had sitting around, but I've heard its more difficult than the original North American version as its based on the European game or something. Any thoughts?
Isn't nier 30fps on PS4? It's probably the one game I really want to play but haven't, I did try the pc version but couldn't get past the menus

The game is pretty damn unoptimized, so unfortunately, it's 900p and 30fps (on the regular PS4, Pro is 1080p). PC has a much better graphical experience, but the game never worked on my rig for some god-forsaken reason, so I just refunded it and bought a PS4 copy.
It's a great game, but temper your expectations before the hype kills your experience.
EDIT: It's actually 60fps, don't mind me, I'm a dummy.

Oops, I guess I remembered incorrectly. I think the cutscenes were 30fps instead. My bad.
Still, there's quite a bit of stuttering and frame drops on the PS4 version. Don't know if it's the same on PC.

Runs buttery smooth for me on PC, until I hit the opera boss, her hacking phase causes my game to enter slideshow mode. Goes back to normal after that, but the problem was so bad I just got a PS4 copy, runs fine on normal PS4.

I played the PS3 version but not the original PS2 version, so I can’t attest to any differences in difficulty. But generally I didn’t find it to be a hard game. Just go for it imo.
Shadow of Colossus on PS4 looks insane
It's kinda shitty because I bought it for PS2, PS3 and still haven't played them yet but I can't resist those graphics.
Next PS4 update looks to be the best one yet.

Thank god, I absolutely despised not being able to clear the list.
How much better with framerates and such is the PS4 PRO compared to the slim model? I plan on getting a PS4 with my tax return and I am gonna have it hooked up to a monitor I'm also planning on getting. This monitor is also gonna be used for my PC so I'm gonna get a switcher or splitter or whatever as well.
I'm not really knowledgeable about monitors and such, but this one seemed like a great upgrade to my old ASUS VW224U.
I'm not planning on getting a PSVR and the monitor isn't 4k, so would it be worth it to pay the extra hundred bucks for improved hardware?
I don't know how much normal games take advantage of it and I wasn't sure if it was gonna be like a New 3ds type situation where some games will require you get it.

I can’t think of too many games that fully take advantage of the Pro’s capabilities. Off the top of my head, Nioh allows you to play action mode (60fps) in 1080p whereas its only 720p on regular consoles. The Witcher 3 has a ton of options you can tinker with on the Pro, but I suppose if you already have a PC its just better to play it on there. There’s a boost mode or whatever that you can use for everything, but again I’m not exactly sure how it works with every game. If you can afford it, you might as well get it since more games in the future could utilize the Pro’s features better.
Here’s a random link I found that has games that can be boosted by the Pro and other general information about the Pro:

Not sure how outdated the list is, but its somewhere to start

How well does Shadow of the Colossus run on a base PS4?
How well does Shadow of the Colossus run on a base PS4?
I only got around to playing it for about an hour or so after midnight, but it was running great, no framedrops or anything.
They also seem to have fixed one of the dumbest problems the original had, where for some reason the Trial items were locked to their own respective modes and couldn't be mixed and matched, or in the base game at all
Already had a weird bug where the second colossi wouldn't spawn. Had to load the game up again for it to work. Other than that (and a few minor art gripes I have), the game works great.
So, how are the modern control schemes? I immediately switched to classic
Shadow of the Colossus came with photo mode, these are on a base PS4, which runs super smooth.

I've been hearing bad things about Wander's face in the remake, ranging from having a "waxy" face model, missing facial animations, and even missing the [sp]progressive paleness/veininess[/sp] in the second half of the game. Can anyone comment on this? It's not a deal breaker by any means but it's disappointing if true, considering the level of detail in Wander's face in the original

I'm on the 10th Colossus, and I'm just now starting to notice the[sp]paleness/veins[/sp]. It's really subtle though. I never finished the original game, so I'm not sure how intense it was there.
