Damn it, I had no idea this was going on.
I was looking through my winrates and, WOW, it's amazing how obvious the Russia/Germany vs USA/UK difference is. Pretty much all my Rus/Ger tanks have ~60% win rate while the US/UK tanks are around a ~40% (or lower) win rate. As a case study: my M18 Hellcat has around a 2:1 kill/death ratio, but has a 36% win rate. The Sherman firefly has a 25% win rate! That shouldn't be possible, even if I were the worst player in the world. The nations are so incredibly unbalanced. [editline]2nd April 2017[/editline] In my opinion, the single biggest reason is that US/UK teams are forced to use hugely underperforming solid shot for a lot of tanks, especially if you want any sort of decent penetration.
My Chieftain has a nearly 80% W/R, from a nation that has a single competitive-ish 8.0 vehicle. It might be national, but it's also vehicle-based as well as the people who play the vehicles. Case in point, Tiger II Sla is objectively a better Tiger II H, but has a worse W/R because it's flooded with shitty players shitting up their shitty German teams.
What are your win rates for tier III brit? Their tanks seem to get measurably better in tier IV.
What are your win rates for tier III brit? Their tanks seem to get measurably better in tier IV.
I think I played them in AB. Most tanks I do up to Era III in AB and swap to RB by IV. UK is fine with the early 6 pounders and turns into solid-shit hell with the exception of the Comet. Challenger is alright, even if it can't back-up at all. By the 20-pounders with APDS and Tortoise, it's all great again. I think people who suffer through this to Era V are usually pretty hardened thus the typically decent Chieftain players. That said, I totally agree that there's a massive over-emphasis on APHE (and HEAT), and that Solid Shot/APCR is just fucking useless atm unless you like needling crew across 4+ shots.
The firefly is a perfect example. It supposedly has an amazing gun, and it is, other than the fact that you need to hit them 2-4 times for a kill and they pretty much always one shot you. Hitting anyone without disabling their gun/killing their gunner is basically a death sentence. Playing Germany and Russia feels like easy mode in comparison.
N1K1 Kyoufu with the floats broken off is crazy good
amazing I always tried breaking off the sea zero floats back in the day but was always disappointed that I couldn't might try it with the sea shiden
amazing I always tried breaking off the sea zero floats back in the day but was always disappointed that I couldn't might try it with the sea shiden
Note that a lot of floatplanes have floats you can't break off. The stuka used to be able to break off its landing gear for some ridiculous maneuverability boost but now it's really hard to do that without crashing.

It really does makes you more agile. Bonus points if you ditched your 20mm gunpods for airbrakes Then again, due to the floppy collision models of the buildings, you might as well head straight into a pillar of granite, so proceed with caution

I tried grinding german tanks for once i’m like at tier 2 and want to progress to tier 3 etc i get 5-6 kills a match, but holy fuck just 360RP? yo what the fuck, i need like tons of tanks just to progress a tier, and one tank is like 8000-9000? and the tier 3 tanks are even worse jesus christ
welcome to war grinder
Is there any reason to use the wing mounted bazookas over HVARs on US planes?
Premium's basically a requirement if you want to grind quickly. I can average like 5k RP in Era V without anything other than premium time. But it wouldn't even be worth bothering without it. [sp]Tank RP is also fucked outright and planes earn like double atm, but you'll never see Gaijin backpedal on their original excuse that "there's too few tanks" (from CBT) so we don't want people rushing through it fast.[/sp]
I sort of feel that they should have some sort of set amount of RP needed to get to the very end of a tech tree, so it doesn't get uneven and you don't get totally fucked over when they add useless tanks in the middle of the tree while you're researching up it.
Yeah, I'm ignoring Tanks for the moment, I've got to grinding Tier V Soviets but it's just too much of an infuriating slog even with Premium. Loads of fun to be had with American planes though, A-20G is probably my favourite bomber in the entire game. I did dump most of my leftover prem GE into the rear gunners, so there's always some glorious idiot cull going on behind me.

i researched the t-44 what the fuck it's literally the biggest dissapointment in my life, the rounds just *plonk* off enemy armor
For the T-44 to be effective at it's BR it's absolutely essential to flank, if you want to keep your hair in that respect you're better off playing realistic and maybe investing in some scrub shrubs.
T-thanks for anwsering.

I think they also have less drag, but the tubes stay unlike HVARs. Maybe they're cheaper as well? v:v:v [sp]Short answer: no.[/sp]

It boggles the mind how this, and the Super Pershing, have the same BR.
Is there any reason to use the wing mounted bazookas over HVARs on US planes?
None whatsoever, except that you get more rockets to fire. With the latest patch, HVARs and Tiny Tims are essentially laser-guided precision bombs
Ffs. Was about to win a RB match as the sole survivor in an il2 vs 3 Japanese (wounded 1 to a crash, was about to blapt the other two) only to have one of the two remainders ram me so they'd win. Why do people have to be such dickheads?
Is there any reason to use the wing mounted bazookas over HVARs on US planes?
They're much more accurate, but overall no reason to use them over HVARs. HVARs penetrate 75mm of armor with a radius of 1-3.5m, bazookas penetrate only 29mm (struggles to even pierce deck armor on some vehicles with direct hits) with an explosion radius of 0.35-1m and as someone stated the launch rail stays around visually (though the rocket is coded as THROWING THE ENTIRE LAUNCH RAIL AT THEM, WEIGHT AND ALL). So I'm not sure if it actually matters in terms of drag.

Why do people have to be such dickheads?
That... Honestly seems like a really reasonable thing for him to do. You're playing for victory, obviously. They were two, you were one. They could either go into dogfighting, where they would have the upper hand in numbers but still risk unfortunate losses; or they could sacrifice one for a certain kill and keep the other alive. I fail to see the problem. And hey, they were Japanese. It's even historically accurate for them to do it! I mean, if you get rammed right away in a match by someone just looking to fuck shit up, that's dickish. But a late-game, game-winning ram like that is clever as fuck; and that pilot was huge value to the team. I certainly wouldn't have thought of doing that, and would probably have lost the game on those grounds.
I only ram when I know I'm dead within the next 30 or so seconds anyways :v: I'm with Riller, that's some class A Jap roleplaying.
I never try to ram, but I'm so shit at planes that it sometimes just happen. Misjudging distance and speed between me and my target on a high-energy approach or head-on firefight rarely ends well for me :v:
as much as I love the improvised shiden, I feel like we always initailly end up lower than the P-39s and P-51s so we gotta sideclimb anyway :v: Had loads of fun with a friend though. Also protip if you don't like the center floats - you could just get a friend to shoot it off for you after the pontoon fuel tank turns black [t]http://i.imgur.com/kO9ubRL.jpg[/t]
