My first thoughts were along the lines of "what are they going to add in era 4 and 5," but I took a quick peek at a list of italian planes and their lineup actually isn't too bad at all.
G.56 alone will be completely excellent, it's the plane I'm most excited for
and they even ended up being used by the Germans on the Italian front.
This is no seal of quality, my friend. Once Germany got on the back-foot (IE, Italian front), they would use literally anything they could get their hands on. FT-18s fought in Normandy. Two fuckin' British Mk. V fought in Berlin, for fucks sake. That Germany uses a piece of equipment just means that it is a piece of equipment that exists, nothing else.

Also as a ground attacker, the AA Def. sounds like havoc. A never ending spew of IL2's and AAA guns. *With WT's missions being more specific to whatever's going on on the map.
Its better than nothing I suppose
G.56 alone will be completely excellent, it's the plane I'm most excited for
I just read up on that, it's a supercharged G.55 with a German engine and a potent cannon armament. Outperforms the 109k and gives the 190A through D a run for its money, while outmanuvering both. If they're tiered at the right battle ratings, Italian aircraft could be VERY formidable. The thing had a 90mm gun before Germans even configured the 88mm for anti tank duties. Italy may not have had amazing industrial capacity, but their equipment quality was at the very least on par with, and in a select few cases surpassing, their other axis counterparts. I also remember reading about a certain Italian heavy bomber armed with a 102mm for "anti shipping" duties. Yes, you read that right. The ultimate spicy meatball dispenser.

We made this decision because, logically, there can only be one world war happening at any one time, and so there should be only one mode available. Enemy vehicle markers aren’t visible across the entire map, but the detect-enemy function is higher than in classic RBs.
Uuuuuugghhh. Better than arcade I guess but I might just limit myself to planes if this is the case. At the point of occupation of Czechia, some German commanders (I think it was Wittman or somebody) remarked the Pz.38(t) was pretty much better than anything else the Germans had domestically at that point (PzIs and PzIIs). Plenty of soviet stuff they captured they actually refurbished and sometimes refitted with their own guns and coupolas, in contrast with Russians getting their hands on Panthers and going "just use it until it grinds itself to death, then abandon it" (although Russians still liked PzIIIs). At least tank wise, Germans were glad to assimilate technology even if it was ideologically inferior (because in reality it was actually fucking better).

The Czech design was indeed superior to anything the Germans had at the time, and was used to bridge the gap between the autocannon machines and the upgunned 50 mm and 75 mm that could deal with the heavier Soviet vehicles. However, my primary point was that Germany towards 1943 onward was much less picky in what was used out of need for any material at all. While foreign equipment likely held its own in its own right, any logistics minded person is less likely to be enthusiastic at the fact that they have a French/Italian made weapon as much as they would be enthusiastic that they had a weapon available at all with ammunition also present for it. While the German armed forces may have had the ability to adopt foreign designs due to their performance, after bombs began to fall on factories and the Soviets began their march to Berlin the luxury of being selective became a foreign concept in and of itself.
Doesn't one of the Marders have a soviet cannon on it?
Yeah, Marder III (not the H one) is hilariously a Czech Chassis carrying a Soviet gun.
jagdpanzer 38t is also obviously built on a 38t chassis
I think my favorite hullabaloo was the when the Russians captured some Panzer IIIs, mocked them up with a new superstructure to carry their brand of 76mm, and then the Germans captured them back and had to start over with a new designation all over again.
Makes me wonder if Soviets got to use any of the refurbished T-34s or KV-1s
chances are they would've gotten fucked up to the point of being unusable. Soviets barely used any captured equipment compared to the Germans.
So, since WW mode will be basically clan wars, do we expect maybe a partial revival of squadron? It dawned on me that the only time I played with someone from IFLAP or WUF was when I met them in random battles. Sometimes they don't even bother replying! [sp]I'm looking at you Shibbey[/sp]

[sp]I'm looking at you Shibbey[/sp]
I have sadly very little time for coordinated gaming these anymore these days, and after summer it's only gonna get worse. I hope Gaijin's thing is a little bit less demanding on ensuring all your players regularly contribute at regular times than WoT clan wars was.
so i got the 8.8 flak 36 half track and my first kill is an airplane. did i do good?
Just unlocked the PE-8. I now have the soviet national anthem setup on my second screen at all times just in case. Edit: This is my first megaplane and holy fuck is this thing weird af to fly. Camera's maximum wonk and it lifts so hard I literally cant land on most airstrips. Lack of a supercharger or anything is really annoying though.
Makes me wonder if Soviets got to use any of the refurbished T-34s or KV-1s
You know how they treat traitors in the Red Army. Even the tanks weren't spared.
You know how they treat traitors in the Red Army. Try to fly a B-17 or a god forbid a G8N to experience a true aerial panic.

Only thing is they dont do much to improve the somewhat meager engine performance at altitude. Funny enough it actually climbs better if you fly flat and floor it. WEP's a myth at altitude though.

I am itching to see what the rest of the Italian tech tree will be like, as well as if they are going to give the earlier fighters access to the 12.7mm HEI belts. Italy had functional prototype jet aircraft that would perform on the same level as mid/late props, as well as some other gimmicks that would even the playing field between allied and axis teams. Later props have access to German engines and armament, making them attractive answers to high performance aircraft like Griffon Spits. Italian 12.7mm ammo was apparently something greatly envied by allied aircraft on the receiving end (almost like a mini minengeschloß), something that is probably not modeled in game just yet.
Lack of a supercharger or anything is really annoying though.
The only prop plane in the game without a supercharger is the Po-2 (which is why it's the only prop to hit its top speed at sea level)
