I got hit over a hill by a ZSU-57 that fired through a smoke screen and nailed my commander and after taking cover I "jokingly" typed into chat

almost instantly my turret ring and horizontal drive turned black, my gun became un-usable despite the breach and gun being fine and I was not prompted to repair any of these and was stuck just driving around unable to do anything.

I finally got my first post war vehicle. Too bad it's just the PT-76 that has underperforming APCR as its stock ammo. It's gonna be a long painful grind to HEAT-FS.
Flying planes in RB always ends disastrously for me. Its not that I can't fly or change how I fly based on the realistic flight envelope, because flight sims are my favorite thing, but goddamn if I don't seem to die to the first enemy plane I encounter no matter what.
Are there any short and succinct guides to getting better at combat flying? I like to play a bit of WT in my downtime between work and working from home for my other job, so I don't have tons of time for really expansive guides unfortunately

also I have a hunch I'm going to cave and get premium because the tanks grind is just so retardedly slow holy shit. I had a few weeks after buying the Black Cat, and that felt so so much better than not having premium.

The tank mode is kind of garbage. It's interesting, but the camera is perma-locked behind your tank meaning you can only realistically fire 90 degrees infront of you. The controls are awkward as hell as a result. However, the plane mode is incredible, but I can't see it being useful outside sim battles. Then it's kinda cheating since you can stick your head out of the window or through the floor. :v:

Well if you want to be realistic about it, be higher or don't engage, if they're higher and engage just fly down and away, make them waste all that effort and it helps your team. Don't fight on an energy disadvantage cos you're probably going to lose. Otherwise fly to the planes advantage, try to bait them into a turn fight in a turn fighter, get altitude and bounce them a bunch in an energy fighter, don't get greedy and chase someone to the ground unless there's no other threats.

people bitching about M18s being spammed at 4.7-5.3 for US need to cut that shit out, I can't fucking stand being dropped into battles with piles of Tigers, Panthers, and a few Tiger IIs even while driving a fucking Jumbo or M4 76. Like, what the fuck? In RB its especially bad because yeah these fought in reality but we don't get the actual numbers advantage they had.
I'm just glad premium and the M18 Black Cat make this tier tolerable. I usually just use the Black Cat and barely touch the tanks I'm actually grinding for.
The 76 Shermans have amazing shells though, jesus christ. In the M4A1 76 I had an AB match where I got 9 ammo racks in a row and felt like a monster tbh

The M18 spam is only bad when people use the speed to flank around and spawn camp. Otherwise they don't bother me because they die in one shot to everything.
Me and a mate have been grinding brits and the majority of games at that tier are just:
Spawn in, entire team aside from us are hellcats that rush the closest point then proceed to all die and about half leave the game leading to us losing before the round has even been going for 5 minutes.
I love driving my m18s though as i always do well in them, nfi why no one else seems to be able to deal with tiger 1s in them when they have shells that can 1 shot disable them frontally.

This biggest problem I have is shell over penetration and HE will just do nothing if it hits.
There are a tremendous quantity of retarded M18 drivers, though.
Not like the state of the tree has any real fix for RB, tbh. Not sure what could even be done to rectify the situation. I just fear Panthers and Tigers regardless of whether I'm driving a 76 M4 or my Black Cat: in the M4's especially their engagement range is just ridiculous compared to mine. Only solution is to move carefully, try to flank, and use binoculars like they're going out of style. If binocs didn't let you peak over things, idk what in the hell I'd do.
If I get close to them, though, a 76mm APHE shell to the sides usually is a OHK which is just all kinds of satisfying. [I]Especially[/I] when I manage to ammo rack Tigers trying to be sneaky shits hiding in bushes.

fighting a surprise IS2 alone in an M18 is not an experience I recommend, though.
