When I was facing off against a T29 and I didn't know my round could penetrate parts of its mantlet, I was surprised to high hell that a kugelblitz came up behind it and actually destroyed it.
Thanks kugel!

Funny enough that's actually kind of realistic. I don't think they bounced THAT high but skip bombing was totally a thing
Funny enough that's actually kind of realistic. I don't think they bounced THAT high but skip bombing was totally a thing
i know, it just caught me off guard cause i didn't expect a bomb that's pitched downwards to skip - from past experience they sink if they're not either level or pitched upwards.
Does anyone know of a soviet tank with good mobility that can potentially be added?
Does anyone know of a soviet tank with good mobility that can potentially be added?
What BR/rank?
Does anyone know of a soviet tank with good mobility that can potentially be added?
You mean that was actually built and not cancelled mid-design like WoT-tier LTTB and T-54 Lightweight?
Nadda, really. The USSR gave up on the concept of pure light/cavalry/scout tanks. The venerable T-60/70/80 served that role after BTs were phased out. There were a few built projects in that train of thought like the T-45 (T-62) and T-111 (T-46-5), but those are both armed with the 45mm and aren't bringing much new to the table.
Their light armor evolved into other roles, like amphibious scouts (PT-76 and the later armed 85/100mm versions) or troop carriers (BMP) or a mix (BMD.) Like most nations, if you go into paper projects you'll find a mix of mused ideas ranging from very sensible to outlandish wastes of effort. When it comes to that awkward period of super-early or pre-Cold War (but post WW2), Russian armor isn't something I have a good grasp on and the documents I've squirreled away for the Slavs are all in Cyrillic so I can't read them anyways. :v:
All that said, we already have T-34-85s, T-34-100s, T-44 in 3 distinct flavors, Type 62 if you did the event, and the Obj 906. Do you really need something even more mobile? I mean yeah, they're missing the new hotness that is "tiny scootybooty tank destroyer with floppingly massive firepower" aka M56 Scorpion and Type 60 SS, but so is Germany and UK.

The object 906 is very disappointing in terms of mobility. Awful acceleration, loses all of its speed at the slightest change of direction, no neutral traverse, -7 reverse speed, and the handling overall is pretty bad. The type 62 is much better in terms of mobility though
I doubt they'll get anything as good mobility wise such as the leopards, type 74/stb-1 but at least a light tank with a good reverse speed to compensate for the lack of neutral steering
I doubt they'll get anything as good mobility wise such as the leopards, type 74/stb-1 but at least a light tank with a good reverse speed to compensate for the lack of neutral steering
906 is chunky, but the gun/reload make up for it and it's still a decent bit faster than anything else at that BR for USSR.
And no, there's really not any actually-built tanks to fill that bracket unless they add the BMP/BMD series (they might.) Or the T-54 Light, which I doubt will ever make it into WT. The Object 685 was passed to dev awhile back, which is basically a 906 with a more modern 100mm gun and even faster.
the BMP-1 would be neat. Its main gun fires rocket assisted projectiles so that would be a new feature they could add too. Although I'm not sure what else they could add that uses rocket assisted projectiles.

Sturmtiger.
Sturmtiger.
Those are really just rockets rather than RAPs though
BMP-1 even without the ATGM railed on top wouldn't be too game breaking. Rapid fire, tiny-caliber HEAT on a fast, but awkward chassis that has the usual confetti paper for armor.
BMP (or BMD)-2 is what I want, but pretty sure a 30mm autocannon spamming APFSDS-T would break the game. But hey! Gaijin gave the Gepard 110mm pen APDS in a raw full belt because.... :downs:
uh.
76mm is hardly tiny calibre.
Gepard
if only gaijin would stop being lazy and implement the belt hotswap thing

Explain what this is please
My Corsair's wings looked a bit too bent so I tried to straighten them out. It didn't work :c

also this game is freaking glorious at max settings on my new fuckhuge 1440p monitor. I'll stop short of outright saying "Muh immersion!" but its pretty great
uh.

73mm. Try the PT-76's HEAT out for a bit and tell me if you think it's up to snuff for Era V battles. The upside the BMP has is a much, much better RoF.
Explain what this is please
Gepard did carry raw APDS, in hot-swap belts of 20 rounds per gun I believe. They could be swapped to fire on the fly and almost instantly. No Gepard ever carried 680 APDS rounds and the idea is fucking absurd because no one would bankroll that stupidity.
Same goes for almost every SPAAG in this game carrying full loads of expensive and material-costly hardened core ammo. Instead of implementing ammo limitations, they instead just use ammo as a "balans ))" feature which goes all the way back to the CBT when they thought inconsequentially more penetrative APCR was justification for some tanks being higher BR.
Which I mean would be a sound idea of almost every solid-core non-APDS ammo in the game was just utterly fucking useless. Especially on smaller calibers. Grinding out the stock Bulldog for Japan again and having to work through AP and APCR ammo to get APDS made me want to cry - most often the round would pen, throw 1-5 bits of "spall" that would mildly annoy the crew and discolor some components before I got return fire and died instantly because a fucking spitball might do more damage.
Explain what this is please
basically what doom said.
gaijin could've implemented the gepard properly, but they half-assed it and made it unrealistic, then tried to 'fix' it by changing it to a different type of unrealistic
Those are really just rockets rather than RAPs though
Nope, they were literally rocket-assisted mortar shells, not straight up rockets.
So should I grind out the Panther 2 and go for the Leopards or just grind out the Gepard right now and put the Leopards on hold?
I keep hearing all this talk of the Gepard and it's making it seem like a silly fun tank
[editline]26th January 2017[/editline]
I feel like the Panther 2 would make the future grind easier but after test driving the Gepard I didn't realize how sick nasty it really looks with that spinning dish
P51 please (god these cannons are great in AB)

Gepard alone would be horrible. It has a massive grind to get off of 60mm pen AP ammo. [sp]You can always pay, Tovarisch )))))))))))))))))))))))))[/sp][sp]))))))))))))))))[/sp]
Until they fix the Panther II, it's the best 6.7 in the game if you have a brain. Tiger II H being the next best if you don't. And there's no ammo grind for it. And it leads to the Leopards which are much the same way for Era V - excellent if you have enough functional braincells to operate a keyboard, though you do have to grind for the HESH/HEAT.
Gepard, even with APDS, is just a meme machine much the same way the ZSU-57-2 is. You could get like 8+ kills regularly with it, or you could get 1HKO leaving spawn regularly. I'd recommend getting some real carry machines like the Panther II/Leopard instead, first.
So the new boats test is here, its nice to see some larger vessels ARE going to be happening, I have a bit of a feeling they are either going to make the aiming far more snappy or are going to calm the seas; ALOT.
Aiming is still really wonky.
Just played some boats, 8.0 is so fun to use.

seems okay

i don't get the people that have problems with the aiming - if the sea wasn't rough there'd be little to no challenge to hitting people. if you sail with the direction of the waves it's still relatively easy to hit people even out at 2km~
don't run in to the cargo ships
Is Navy Forces in open beta test now?
Is Navy Forces in open beta test now?
"pre-beta", so basically very limited closed-beta for pre-orders only
[editline]a[/editline]
you can apply for the 'real' closed beta without pre-ordering, though who knows if you'll get picked :v
We’ve also opened an application for players who want to participate but haven't purchased the packs for the closed beta test, which starts later. You can send in an application and we’ll review you as a candidate for the role of captain on a military vessel.
