I'm tired of the shitty performance so I'm waiting for the engine update. Still waiting.
You'll be waiting for a while then.
I'm just wondering how long G1 can continue supporting APB by milking the braindead fans.
Well if the engine update is as good as they say it is the performance is going to take huge leap forward while also launching the game on consoles, both of which could add some more life and variety to the game. Personally I'll always come back to this because while I hate it, I also love it.
I'm tired of the shitty performance so I'm waiting for the engine update. Still waiting.
Stopped waiting, stopped playing months ago. The engine update is being worked on by around 1 or 2 people, aka the only original member(s) left that worked on the game during RTW. The sewage that is the G1 administration laid off any other remaining members before the idea was ever conceived, which is why the new team-members can only make a set of generic content like cars, car mods, weapons, UI and skins. It's also why this engine update is taking forever. Don't get your hopes up either, the testers initially came to the conclusion (when the beta engine update finally was released to the SPCT) that even though the game has minor improvements to its looks, it's far from finished and the closed beta access is poorly optimized, even worse than the current version of APB. I do appreciate that they're trying to balance out the Asylum map by putting obstacles/barriers and giving more places to fight. I don't however think the engine update will solve yours, mine, and many of other people's problems in terms of the game running bad. No; it isn't your or my computer, I know friends who have top notch computers and the only difference in APB was a FPS increase of 5 to 10, hardly noticeable. I'm sure the leading reason for the engine update is its expansion towards the consoles, so that they have a more open user base and can generate more profit by milking its users like it does already to the current fanbase. The game hasn't changed in months, being that the only content that's new are content you can only reach by spending money. They've broken and buffed many weapons through the huge weapon updates, and have added even more weapons to the game that completely shit on the current meta. Going back to the game I've seen people with guns I don't recognize in bulk and they pummel whoever doesn't spend much time on the game or hasn't had a lot of experience. The only way to survive in APB is to be active a lot, to stay up to date with the meta of weapons and play with a group of people you can depend on. Otherwise, I don't think you'll be having a lot of fun. Don't have much to say other then that, I'm sure if I bothered to say that even close to the forums I'd probably be clouded by brain dead fans and silent vindictive moderators that remove your posts and threaten you with account termination.
The fact that everything you said is true is so tragic because the initial game had sooo much potential. Like, IDGAF about the model quality because I know literally no other game with this vast customization. Sadly the potential all goes down the drain when, like you pointed out, the majority of the team are too inexperienced or lack the skills and knowledge to bring the game forward. It's hella sad really.
The real question is why in the sea of open world games we have currently, is there no game with customisation on par with APB?
The real question is why in the sea of open world games we have currently, is there no game with customisation on par with APB?
It could be the fact that APB flopped so badly that other companies are too afraid that their projects would also end up like APB.
The customization is literally one of the few things making it unique among other F2P shooters and even those that hate the game admit that the customization system is one of the best out there.

It's basically the Joker SR13 Carbine on steroids.
Not really. The carbine you can close your eyes and spray. You just have to more or less aim at the target. The Oscar is extremely unforgiving because you have to be accurate as fuck. Also, don't use Cooling, there's no point. Use IR3. You'll thank me
When the MP-40 first came out, I said "I will get one of those some day!". Years have passed, I abandoned the game, I never got one. Today I went on with some friends for old time's sake, and I figured 'Hey I'll look at the gun market and see what's there'. And there I find it, an MP-40 for 2 million dollars, I just happen to have 2.4 million on the character I was on. I hesitated for a second, trying to remember what I saved all that money for; oh yeah the MP-40 duh. So I bought it. I had abandoned hope of ever holding one, yet the dream has come true. I own the MP-40. [sp]the game runs like shit though, holy fuck I average around 35fps when I used to sit at a comfortable 60[/sp] Unfortunately it was too much for my crew, one of which was getting a headache from the low frames. I still miss this game, if they ever fix it, I'll go back.
I find myself buying premium every other year and playing around with customization before forgetting about the game's existence again. Are the NA servers still alive anyway?
I accidentally used my 15 day Premium instead of my 3 day. Wonder if they'll give it back.
It takes like two weeks (at best) for them to reply to support tickets.
So I've decided to put the 5 day Premium I got from a GM Joker Box up to some actual use. On the left - buttoned white shirt. On the right - long-sleeved black shirt. [t]http://puu.sh/nPWRx/b18095c317.png[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/nR3Ch/1806155ac9.png[/t] If only there was a game with a customization system rivaling APB's in intuitiveness and power, I'd switch games in a heartbeat.
The closest you'll get in terms of customization depth is Black Dsert Online but that's an MMO and there's no symbol, cloth, music or vehicle designing.
Putting the 3day Premium code to good use. [editline]fake merge[/editline] It seems like all I do nowadays in APB is just fiddle around with customization when I get some Premium codes. Is that good or bad?

Is APB still being actively developed? I haven't played in years, had so much fun playing the game in beta.
So, have some intresting news. Some dude found a leaked document about Reloaded Productions. He posted it on the APB forums. HARDCORE DAMAGE CONTROL! He got banned from the forums, topic got deleted, and the original site where he got the document from got 404'd! " Many of you have been wondering, why has APB been going downhill for so long? Why don't the Devs communicate with the players? Why doesn't the playerbase know anything about what's being worked on, or what the future plans for the game are? I think it's time to break that silence. Below is my take on what's been going on, backed some anonymized quotes from RP employees. Who I am is not important. Whether you believe it or not is entirely up to you. More and more I see angry threads, players lashing out at Devs, servers getting DDoSed, cheaters streaming while their viewers cheer on them... This sort of behaviour has become acceptable. More and more people are starting to see these hackers as vigilantes, not villains. The players are fed up with the state of the game, the bad updates, the broken servers, and the deafening silence from the people in charge. How did we get here? All of our current issues stem from one thing: lack of communication from the developers/PR team about the game's future. They don't say a thing about it, despite having worked on a bunch of stuff for years. So what has been going on? "Well, right now they are fixing all of the environmental issues caused by new textures and objects. After that, it should be at an "open beta" type stage of development" "The technical portions are built on the consoles then translated to the PC client." That's the plan anyway. Last I checked, there were some texture LOD streaming issues, when moving at high speeds (driving). I'm sure they fixed it by now, since I have it on good authority that the game has been sent to Microsoft and possibly Sony for verification at this point. Which leads to another point: APB has been built specifically for consoles, and will then be ported over to PC at a later date. Here's some screenshots I'm pretty sure you haven't seen before. Consider it your "proof". But why won't they say anything? We have our community manager to thank for that. It may come as a surprise, but Tiggs isn't just in charge on the Twitter account. All communications go through her, and she decides what the devs can communicate and what they can't. Unfortunately, she doesn't understand who her crowd is, what they want, or how to talk to them. Even out of game context the developers are forbidden from communicating with the players. I know for a fact that the dev team received a gift from some players, (which the devs were really grateful for in private, mind you) and wanted to show it off to the community, only to be blocked by Tiggs. They are simply not allowed to interact with anyone in public. Note that this is not a personal bash towards Tiggs, but there’s no denying that she has failed to properly communicate with the playerbase, and makes up for her poor performance by arranging ARMAS sales to gain popularity. "I'll put it this way. Tiggs controls how much the Devs talk to the Community" "As far as Deep Silver and the OTW, it is apparently a pretty tight NDA for them.. Tiggs is specifically the reason the Devs don't talk to the Community directly. She won't let them." "(..) but she had good reason for it in the beginning. Used to be, whenever ANY G1 employee spoke on the forums they got trolled/flammed/spammed into oblivion. It was extremely negative and if anyone came on the forum and saw that it'd be bad publicity." "So in the end they just let the very head honchos make occasional comments and let the moderators do a lot of the talking. Which, now even the Moderators don't talk because they are all anonymous accounts now" Basically, DeepSilver doesn't want their shiny new game tainted by everything that's been happening on the official forums. You can thank yourselves for that, by the way. The plan, it seems, is no communication and no interaction with the players, because that is the safest thing to do. It's worth noting that this is a conscious and deliberate decision made by RG management. As far as they're concerned consoles are the future revenue stream, and they want nothing to do with you. This is why APB has been developed for consoles, and only later will be ported over to PC. Some day. If you look at the charts, we're peaking at the lowest concurrent playerbase of all time, and nothing is being done about it. RG employees aren't happy about it either, mind you. As you may know, last year a number of employees left/were laid off due to budget cuts. Specifically, the support staff. Today the GMs are doubling as customer support. I hope that RG steps up and reverses their decision to silently milk the few remaining loyal players, in an attempt to make ends meet till the console release. And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. An inside look into the inner workings of Reloaded Games. Bonus quote: "Right now they are in deep shit with Deep Silver because they are so behind schedule" "
Holy shit, that's even worse than I imagined. Looking at this, does it mean that the PC players will have to wait for the engine update even longer? [editline]3rd April 2016[/editline]
Is APB still being actively developed? I can't believe APB's community is so bad that thet devs want to stray away from it. But I can see why. I mean, social is just shitposting and micspamming.
I think it's safe to say Engine Upgraded APB:R for PC is vaporware at this point. Unfortunately. [editline]3rd April 2016[/editline] If this game ever goes under, I just want them to release some character + clothing + vehicle creator with no symbol limits and everything cosmetic ever unlocked. Some kind of a memento for this game.
