I think the proper response is to literally forget about ABP for a very very long time.
Yeah I'll probably just forget about All Boints Pulletin for a while.
I can't believe APB's community is so bad that thet devs want to stray away from it. But I can see why. I mean, social is just shitposting and micspamming.
It's partially devs' fault.
It's partially devs' fault.
I always thought the entire dev team consisted of two modellers and a unpaid intern who had a passing familiarity with Unreal. I mean you can't fault the poor intern for their failing promise, right?
No it's like 30 people or something of which 2-3 knows how to work with Unreal.
I wonder how old are those screenshot are? If they are recent, then they still have shit ton of work to do.
I miss this game but the state of things is just so depressing
I miss this game but the state of things is just so depressing
I have enough G1C that I could do a month of premium on this or Fallen Earth. Don't think I'll be using it anytime soon because the state of APB is really quite depressing and Fallen Earth is fucked in its own way. I mean seriously, APB is practically in the same state Champions Online is in that there hasn't been new content that isn't cash shop related in a long while. But that little tidbit about the state of APB pushes things well beyond how Champions Online is trying to hide the lack of new content behind freaking crates(or "lockboxes" as they call them).
Fallen Earth is still online? Holy shit.
So, another leak showed up out of the blue. I can't verify it's legitimacy... But i have had a few friends kicked out of the testing program for suggesting changes. "Right, Its probably about time I verify the leaks and the communication between G1, RP and their community. I think its about a year or two since they ripped my contract to shreds alongside several others.... For Tiggs and Ghoulface, Well, I love you two, but yeah, your communication skills are terrible... I love how people assume I'm neku, I know the dude, but I'm not him, I'm female after all... I guess I should stop using him as a scape goat, so I've updated my profile properly (Sorry for the mess hun <3) Anyway, lets keep things on one line, I've been around in the OTW for a long time, well, used to... Back when people had really fancy tags and weren't hidden behind a shroud of misery... "I've seen shit before you crims and enforcers dream it up" The matter of the fact is that everyone is under tight control from higher up, Tiggs and Ghoulface are the two main enforcers enforcing the rules onto everyone. The developer group, aren't idiots, they're passionate and really want to make the game great, but their hands are bound, the "Fear" factor of the consequences is high in the office even the testers can feel it. There were a lot of testers thrown out for simply sharing their ideas on the new content with their fellow testers (Neku included), and there have been testers that have been thrown out after speaking out over the community interaction. the OTW members used to communicate with the developers and help test things, but slowly this just became a game of QA, opinions were ignored in favour of profit and anyone disagreeing with something were to be thrown out. Every piece of communication is regulated and controlled. Its no surprise I do not communicate on the apb forums, I do read what you guys type on there, and I occasionally bash my head into a wall because you reveal your own identity and put all of us here at risk, but it can't be helped. But one thing that DOES annoy me, is the fact that everything is run by faceless people, who are those people? why they're our old buddies Tiggs (modsquad 20) Ghoulface (Mod squad 12) and Roguester (Mod squad 13), and before you say "but there are multiple mod squad accounts" well you're right there billy, staff uses them to hide their selves they they take action, they even share their mod squad accounts so they can't be identified easier. OTW members are not allowed to talk to the community anymore, this is the reason the SPCT tag got nuked to oblivion, they can't confirm the existence of bugs, they can't tell what's being tested, they're being used and abused as free QA personnel and when they leak or speak out its bye bye for them. Its even worse for the developers, they're not allowed to speak to the QA team and the OTW team anymore, any feedback needs to pass trough tiggs or one of the program's controllers Developers also became afraid to talk to the community they build, the levels of toxicity is just too high on it, and they fear the PR backlash, the forums are just too hostile, but its for a good reason, its hostile because they never started to communicate. The devs also read EVERYTHING, don't worry, they're not ignoring your ideas, they read them and really like most of them and want to work them into the main game, and communicate with the people who thought of it, but like mentioned before, they're not allowed to. RP already bumped their heads with G1 several times and its the end of the line for them, they're told to just shut up and milk this game dry before Deep Silver takes over. G1's also struggling financially a lot of the original RTW developers never went to G1 and RP, and a those who are there now were people who didn't work on most of the systems. A lot is guess work and because of this they have no clue how to actually port to the new engine, they laid off a lot of their staff before the project began to "streamline" it all, but after years of developments, budgetcuts and lay-offs they're sprinting to reach Deepsilver's deadline. Its either hit the deadline and screw over the community or die for them. Their money is running out, their savings are running out, and if they miss the deadline they'll be dead. Deep silver is G1's last chance to stay afloat, they hope that Deep Silver will either buy the game from them, or that the console port will be successful enough to stay alive. But we all know that Deep Silver doesn't like to get their hands dity, let the community die, and then play the hero and buy the game after the G1's company assets go up for sale G1's trying to hide the fact that they're at the end of the line, they want their community to think that everything is under control, and they want their developers to believe they'll still have a job after the port is finished. But this is simply a joke, they've missed several deadlines already and the developers will get fired once the company goes down under. G1's and RP's lack of communication caused them to fall off their mighty horse, and now they're picking up the broken shards of their former self in an desperate attempt to stay relevant. Its a shame really, the engine upgrade is in a playable state for small levels, fight clubs like asylum, beacon, bayland and a few others are working fine on the new engine, so does character customization and vehicle customization. most of the audio got a nice boost in quality too and they've done a lot of work. But matter of fact is, the large levels are still buggy as hell, waterfront and financial have a lot of lod issues and they're classified as "un-playable" and until they manage to fix that and their servers they can't hand the project over to deep silver. If G1 and Reloaded Productions opened the current dev build to the public, the issues would be resolved before the start of the summer vacation. Anyway, this is me, confirming this message, most of it is real, but there is a bit of which is wrong because its understood the wrong way. Well, I'll be signing out for the day, gotta head to the bar and grab a beer, peace yall." Tiggs even answered to this post. http://apbdb.com/track/395564/
Not even remotely surprised. It's a shame, loved this game, and even for the couple of weeks I picked it up again last year it was still as fun as before. But in the 2 year gap between then and when I stopped playing before that, absolutely nothing had changed except for a couple of new contacts and weapons. The one thing that gives me a little bit of hope is the prospect of Deep Silver buying it out, but I won't get my hopes up too much.
I miss this game but the state of things is just so depressing
Same here buddy, if the leaks are to be believed, G1 and Tiggs are killing this game faster than any amount of cheating or monetization. Unfortunately I don't believe APB will get a third chance, the entire concept will be considered cursed or a failure, and nobody will purchase the game nor try to imitate it. A true one-of-a-kind game, ruined by gross mismanagement. Twice. [editline]7th April 2016[/editline] Tiggs of course says it isn't true, but it's not like anyone from the Dev Team is gonna come out and say anything either way.
Guess I was right bout never liking Tiggs. I genuinely hope that Deep Silver will buy the game and make something decent out of it. But then again chances are slim.
If Deep Silver buys APB it would make such a tremendous change, bigger team, more experienced team, actual resources for the developers that extend further beyond spending time on doing reskinned weapons etc. Also the fact that literally the only person (Tiggs) from Reloaded whom have commented both of these leaks just proves them right since no developer with a fucntional brain would sit idly, I mean, had these been false info then most of the devs would've ignored the hostile state of the forum just to prove it all wrong. Instead we have Tiggs going on about, accompanied by the eternal silence.
What's all this about Deep Silver and APB now? Is it just a very optimistic rumour or is there some basis in reality here? I would love for Deep Silver to purchase APB, G1 can't really fuck up much more than they already have, game's dying fast.
What's all this about Deep Silver and APB now? Is it just a very optimistic rumour or is there some basis in reality here? I wonder what will happen to G1's shittier titles (Fallen Earth) when they eventually die.
They'll... Die. Obviously.
There's shittier titles than APB? Also what gets me is, this can be a good game. It's bad mostly because of the developers, the performance has tanked significantly since RTW, and updates are 95% cash shop items.
I remember a good long while ago when tiggs was moved from fallen earth to apb that she supposedly was a factor in fallen earth becoming worse. And prior to fallen earth, I believe she was in the same position for Star Wars Galaxies, which also kind of failed from apparent lack of communication. I also recall saying that she could potentially be bad news for apb. And it looks like I might be right, which is sad....
the only redeeming quality of tiggs is that when she bans players, there's no remorse behind it. thats both a good and a bad thing, but for how bad the APB community is, some people need a good spanking. whether or not those leaks are true, they're not surprising. tiggs doesn't have the best record and G1 hasn't been the most community friendly company. with their records of censorship, shady bans, and their refusal to communicate with the community or take suggestions or help from testers and such, they come out to be some authoritarian type of group. that and their chain releases of content nobody asked for, it seems more and more obvious that they're not releasing content for the good of the community but for profit and a chance to type up another blogpost, or in other words another PR stunt to fish out players who've recently dropped from the game due to how dry it became.
http://apbreloaded.gamersfirst.com/2016/04/who-we-are-at-apb-reloaded.html APB is saved
I've never played APB because my PC always sucked ass and I didn't want to bother with downloading it knowing that it would probably not run. I could never get a better PC because I live a city where everything is expensive as fuck for some reason and buying a console is (slightly) cheaper than getting a proper build to play the games I wanted to. I've been playing GTA:O and while I enjoy it, I can safely say I'm better than the 90% of the player base since most randoms can't complete a single Heist (which is just a long PvE Mission) without taking like 5 hours and dying over a billion of times. Should I build hype for the console port of APB or should I just expect heavy disappointment and move on with my life?
PC version is old and has poop all over the place. Console version will be fresh and whole bunch of new players. I expect console version to be lot of fun for first several months, or maybe even few years.

Should I build hype for the console port of APB or should I just expect heavy disappointment and move on with my life?
The core game is still enjoyable. The customization in this game is still quite possibly the best of all video game customization systems. One could argue that Black Desert Online does it better - but that only allows for character customization. You won't get a symbol designer, clothing design, vehicle design; hell, APB even has a music making module built into it. The core mechanics are good and fairly enjoyable. However, when it actually gets down to combat... your experience will only be pleasant when you fight Silver-threat players - Gold-threat players almost always are too much of a threat to a beginner. The way it goes is: Gold threat players are anywhere between "thousands of hours in this game" or "above average". Silver threat and below is the bunch of players who are either trying this game out or can't learn it at all. Since you can join instances down to those of one threat level lower than yours (Golds can go as low as Silver; they're locked from joining Bronze and Green instances), Gold players will almost always go to Silver instances (and as a result, Gold instances are mostly empty). From there, they either play against other Golds who also went to Silver instances in hopes of easy wins or they stomp actual Silvers. And since Silvers are almost guaranteed to lose vs Golds, they have no way of progressing through the game at a "normal" pace (if they don't quit the game outright). It creates some sort of a skill barrier - it's very difficult to breach into the higher threat level, since the Silvers will have a hard time fighting back against Golds who out-gear and outgun them at every chance. Now, some of you might say...
Fuck off Martin, this game is not pay-to-win, we've said it a thousand times already!
No, you fuck off with your mantra. While I will agree that most paid weapons can be unlocked through in-game currency and can sometimes be easily countered by free guns, there ARE P2W guns in this game - the AMG 'Euryale', with a ~0.560 time-to-kill (that is almost half a second), the mobility of a Scout, the accuracy and range of a sniper rifle, the firerate of an LMG, and it can only be acquired via the Loyalty Reward system... as a $700 Tier reward. As for "out-gearing" others... anything noteworthy or gamechanging is restricted to Rank 195 - the fucking endgame. If you want to be able to surf on car roofs (Car Surfer) or fix your car on the go (Blowtorch) or tag your enemies to know their positions (Tagger and Spotter) - whoops, ha ha! You're expected to be in the fucking endgame before you can use that!
But you can get those mods off Marketplace or the Joker Distribution in Social!
Yeah, if you slaved up enough Joker Tickets to buy a time-restricted version of the character/car/gun mod. This means doing weekly activities in Fight Club (which can either go at a snail's pace or relatively quick depending on your luck). For a variant of the mod that only lasts a couple of days - if you want it back, then it's back to the salt mines again for you! Oh, right, there are also daily activities you get from maxed-out contacts in Mission Districts. Yeah, have fun doing that to get a measly 10 fucking tickets. In the end, no matter what you do, that is not permanent and you will not get enough JTs to get everything you want. Now that I've cried out all my complaints about the game itself, it's time to move on to the staff. As you may have guessed by the last couple of posts in this thread, G1 is receiving very negative opinions from the playerbase. There is no contact with the playerbase because it's too toxic. The playerbase is toxic because of no contact from the developers. And when there is some feedback from the devs, it gets picked on and torn apart by complaining players. It's a vicious cycle which is unlikely to stop. The fact that they're releasing content no one ever asked for (like the sports clothing pack of 6 items, 3 of which are the same in spirit - what the fuck, really?) does not help the matters in any way. And the engine upgrade... it will either get the final couple of bucks from console players and maybe hopefully bring back some veterans or players who have quit because of the game's performance issues OR be a massive flop which will end the game once and for all. Putting it shortly - the game is definitely good in itself, but the community and the way the development of it has been going for the past couple of months/years... I wouldn't be getting too excited for what might come next.
I have not logged on to APB in ages and that used to be my GO TO GAME. All my friends played it, we ran in groups and had all kinds of fun. I've checked the forums from time to time and for the most part the community was pretty optimistic about the engine update and a lot of the loyal fans stayed. As of right now, i can see there is no hope for the game and the community is just a shadow of its former self. People are literally saying the engine update is what killed the game. No one believes it is going to come out. As for me, I played RTW-BETA to RP/G1's version. It just kills me because the core of this game is amazing and fun. But THEY'VE done nothing to expand on that other then release ArmA's shit that no one wants...fuck the RTW version had its balancing issues but at least it wasn't fucking gutted. I dunno, seeing this game and how it is dying angers me. APB could be SO MUCH MORE, but it isn't even reaching its full potential.
There's no rumor, Deep Silver is making the console ports, the question now is will they buy the whole game when G1 dies.
God I hope so, but I won't be surprised if the PC version just dies with G1 screaming in the background.
God I hope so, but I won't be surprised if the PC version just dies with G1 screaming in the background.
it would be a huge fuck you if they took the console version and left the PC one to rot. then again i'm not surprised if they did do it.
it would be a huge fuck you if they took the console version and left the PC one to rot. then again i'm not surprised if they did do it.
It'll run like crap on the consoles anyway but hey, I guess I'll give it a go on my xbone. Also, wasn't APB originally developed for 360?
[...] As for "out-gearing" others... anything noteworthy or gamechanging is restricted to Rank 195 - the fucking endgame. [...]
Which reminded me of the time my friend was surprised I had over 700 hours loaded into APB and I'm still not in the endgame on any character. For anyone still not concerned about the grind, here goes the good ol' wall o' text. Let's assume we have a new, fresh off the boat San Parian Enforcer wannabe. They want to get into the whole Enforcement business, so they start with doing the tutorials. The things they do in tutorials give them a total of 3,000 standing points with Wilson LeBoyce. Then things get just a tiny bit more complicated than the tutorial. The first tier of contacts - Ty Durrant, Eva Orlandez, Violet Prentiss and Chung-hee - all require 7,500 SP each. To complete the entire first tier of contacts, you have to get a total of 30,000 SP. 3,000 + 30,000 = 33,000 By doing that, we reach a glorious rating of 45. What can we get with that? ...not much, really. You get access to all standard weapon categories. Okay, that wasn't so bad - it was just... what, twice the amount of tutorial standing points? It gets worse. The second tier of contacts - Grissom, Sabbat, Stu Phoenix and Mirri Kent - all require 58,575 SP each. That's almost eight times as much as the first tier. Completing this tier requires 234,300 SP combined. 3,000 + 30,000 + 234,300 = 267,300 Our hypothetical Enforcer will be a bit overwhelmed by the grind, but if they manage to overcome the numbers, they will reach the wonderful rating of 85, with a total of SP across all tiers coming up to 267,300. What can they get from that? ...still not much. These contacts mostly unlock vehicle parts and clothing, with only a few guns available from them. So, what does the game have in store for us next? The third tier of contacts, of course! - consisting of Miguel Estebano, Saul Linklater, Darryl Kent and Akiko X - this tier requires you to run errands for the contacts, namely the equivalent of 121,500 SP each. How much is this? Sixteen times as much as the first tier and twice as much as the second tier. This tier requires 486,000 SP combined, about twice as much as the second tier combined. 3,000 + 30,000 + 234,300 + 486,000 = 753,300 Alright, that was an awful fucking chore; we're now at rating 125 and we still have nothing noteworthy - more vehicle parts, more clothes and some mid-tier cars without slots or with just one slot. Surely the midgame is where the grind slows down, right...? No. It only gets worse from here. The fourth tier of contacts - Kaspar Danko, Hea Choi, Chiza and Byeong Lee - require 180,375 SP each, which gives us 721,500 SP combined. Only now do contacts start giving out the "meta" rewards, like the Nulander Pioneer, the Patriot V20 Jericho or anything else an average metaplayer drives or uses. But we're still not at the endgame and this 165 rating shit doesn't seem any different from what we've seen at the beginning of the game! No real game-changing mechanics or completely new ones! This is getting very fucking obnoxious! To which I say: Calm down, dear Enforcer! You're reaching the endgame! 3,000 + 30,000 + 234,300 + 486,000 + 721,500 = 1,474,800 The fifth tier of contacts is the final one - and it only contains two contacts, Justin Teng and Orlenz' Moretti, the bosses of their organizations. They both require 288,750 SP each, which gives us 577,500 SP combined. These contacts give out some actually good gear - multi-slotted top-tier vehicles, actually good guns and so on. 3,000 + 30,000 + 234,300 + 486,000 + 721,500 + 577,500 = 2,052,300 And like so ends the San Paro adventure, with the rating of 195, with over two million standing points accumulated on one character. ...or not. Remember when I said "You're reaching the endgame!"? Yeah, I kinda lied to you. That was the old endgame. Turns out Reloaded Productions added three new contacts to drag old players back into the game! Say hello to the sixth tier; the Specialists - Devil Dog, Ernst 'Mule' Templeton and Aletta Cadagan, edgy cunts the Prentiss Tigers and the Praetorians dragged out from whatever shithole they were hiding in. The fifth tier required less standing than the fourth when it came to totals, so surely this can't be worse? WRONG. Please take note of the individual SP totals for contacts - 7,500 --> 58,575 --> 121,500 --> 180,375 --> 288,750 = a fairly "reasonable" curve of growth, right? Well, the Specialists throw that shit right out of the window - each one of them boasts 20 levels of progression, compared to 15 of the fucking BOSSES. And the SP required to max out just ONE of them? 716,300. That's as much as THE ENTIRE FOURTH TIER. PER ONE CONTACT. And you are expected to do this THREE TIMES to reach the max rating of 255. And said three times means getting 2,148,900 SP, which is everything you've done so far plus some more. The total SP you have to get to reach the maximum rating of 255 on just one character is 4,201,200. Assuming the Enforcer in question always gets about 1,500 SP per mission and each mission lasts 20 minutes, this equals more than ~933 hours of straight uninterrupted gameplay, mission after mission. Rounding it up, one character requires one thousand of hours to max out. Have fun.
So when is the console port for APB actually coming out? The last time it was officially announced as far as I know was early last year(for a June release date that they missed) and then like nothing was said from Deep Silver.
