damn, it finally happened. just played today and about one hour in, I got hit with the feeling of how pointless and repetitive the game is. now I can't have fun no matter what. at first, unlocking and upgrading is fun, but the minute my brain thinks of things in terms of "but then I'll have to unlock something after this, and again, and again" I find it really hard to enjoy the game anymore. always happens in every game I play, was hoping it wouldn't happen so soon with this one.
I stopped playing because the combat is not my thing and they way festivals work is kinda lame, and because of some other gameplay issues, I also hate how you can't move your buildings once you've built them and how you can't build them if there's a tree in the way or something like that. I might come back to it eventually, but anyway I think it's normal for you to get bored of a game which has no story or no real end game to it, at one point it feels more like a chore than a game, you know what to expect seeing as it's going to be more or less the same thing over and over again so you have very little incentive to keep on playing. I actually don't think I would've considered playing this game as a kid, it looks tedious as hell :v: I tried Animal Crossing on Gamecube and it was fun for a few hours but then it felt like a huge waste of time, even as a kid, I had way better games than AC to play through.
I got hit with the feeling of how pointless and repetitive the game is. ...always happens in every game I play, was hoping it wouldn't happen so soon with this one.
OH hey you just figured out the gameplay progression loop. Now every game is pointless.
So does anyone know what's up with the broken stone path in the lower left of the map and the debris on the left of the beach? Both seem like they'd be stuff you could repair/clean up to access other areas but the community bundles don't appear to cover them and you can't actually interact with either spot either? Also is the lonely rock on the map just the rock in the water near the docks or another area altogether? I only have the quarry, greenhouse, and friendship rewards left for the bundles which are clearly neither of those things.
Quite helpful for that.
Not really. It properly follows your cursor while your character actually doesn't. If your mouse is too far away from your character but, say, straight to their right and you click to water something you'll still water in whatever direction you're facing despite that overlay being to your character's right.
That's just the way to the spring dance AFAIK.
Ah, you may actually be right about that one. I completely forgot that the spring dance has its own area. Though it's a bit strange that it's totally inaccessible at any other time of the year.
I don't see how this is a bad thing. Just aim your character with the wasd keys instead of the mouse? Imo using the mouse at all besides in the menus just seem to be imprecise and a lot slower than just controlling your character. All good Harvest Moon games did it that way, why the need to change it?
Because there's a massive difference between what seems to be intuitive and suggested by the game's overlay and what actually happens? The game is predominantly a mouse+keyboard game so you'd think the controls with a mouse and keyboard wouldn't have such strange issues.
My girlfriend had a giant red mushroom tree grow on her farm. No idea how that happened. She cut it down and it dropped several regular red mushrooms that she could pick up. There doesn't seem to be a way to plant mushrooms, so it just happened naturally. Anybody else seen this?

If you put a tapper on it I believe it regularly spits out mushrooms.
I've had that happen, it's just random as far as I can tell If you put a tapper on it it gives mushrooms edit: you monster
So is this a glitch or is it meant to happen? And if it's meant to happen what benefit is there to it?
Have a talk and see what happens.
I did and she acted the same as usual. Even after starting a new day she's acting the same. Still giving her a gift every day though. I've got like 60 pumpkins and don't really need the cash from them. Who knows, maybe the number will just keep going, lol. Edit: Oh hey, after waiting until I could talk to her again today something did happen. [sp]She gave me one of those stardrops.[/sp]
Okay now I am rich as fuck, I got a big farm, got a kid and wife, community center is almost done - guess it's smooth sailing until the dawn of the third year. Getting a huge paycheck every day feels so good.
Went into this game like: ''Haha pffft a farming game, that's so lame.'' And now I'm like: ''HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME''
Can you still have a kid if you get gay married? Adopt or something?

Penny and I are married now. Barn is underway, not sure if I should start investing in barn animals or if I should fix the bus.
how do people have lots of barn animals? I found it next to impossible to grow enough grass to harvest into hay.
how do people have lots of barn animals? I found it next to impossible to grow enough grass to harvest into hay.
Buy hay from Marnie or have a big enough grass field that grows faster than what the animals eat? I guess.
Grass grow rate got fixed a few patches ago Buy a couple of grass starters, keep your animals in the barn for a few days so it can start to grow and then let the animals eat on their own. Only cut the surplus for winter

Just got done with a 9-hour play session :tired: Good game
Penny and I are married now. Barn is underway, not sure if I should start investing in barn animals or if I should fix the bus.
It's probably best to go for the bus. Animals are kinda a pain to get started with.
how do people have lots of barn animals? I found it next to impossible to grow enough grass to harvest into hay.
I just sold a crap load of gold bars and bought a ton of hay from Marnie. I only managed to harvest a grand total of like 80 hay in fall despite buying 20 or so grass starters at the end of summer and spreading them out all across my farm. I have two of each barn and coop animal and it only costs about 16 or so hay per day so a full stack of 999 hay will last quite awhile. I can easily make back the money it cost to make it just by setting aside some time for the mines. Full stack of hay costs 49,950gp, gold bars are 250gp according to the wiki which seems about right, though I remember making about 50k off of a lot less than 200 bars. (It was only 130-140.) That's about 200 bars of gold though which is only 1,000 ore. Gold ore is really easy to get in the lowest section of the mine, especially with the miner profession. There's usually 2-5 nodes per floor (each dropping 2-5 ore each for an average of about 12 ore per floor) and I commonly come across a floor every other trip down there or so where there's like 8 nodes packed tightly together.
