How do you get the standard fertilizer which just uses 2 sap? I take it you don't get it at the start of the game as its not in my crafting menu..
First couple levels of farming. I think 1, might be 2.
First couple levels of farming. I think 1, might be 2.
Cheers. It is as soon as you get rank 1 in farming. I got it after I harvested my first lot of plants.
Holy shit So, with the mauls, if you right click and then hit 'c' before the hammer hits the ground, you'll do this MASSIVE AoE attack that hits everything in like a 3 tile radius and seems to do 3x damage.
C is the same as left click so left clicking before it hits the ground should work the same. Interesting to know though. I wonder if there's stuff like that for swords and daggers too.
No problem. Use that shit all the time dude. It doesn't get consumed after you harvest a crop, only if the tile goes untilled. So as soon as you harvest, plop something else down, and it'll stay fertilized. I've had a few tiles go 3 seasons on the same fertilizer. Save your sap. Never throw it away or sell it. You'll end up with a shitload from cutting down trees. Also, as a tip if you haven't already, get 300 wood and go repair the bridge on the east side of the beach asap. Great place to farm sea urchins, shells, and corals to sell to Willy for easy cash. Your character swings the hammer overhead and when it hits the entire screen shakes, it makes a louder more bassy "whump" and your character is lifted off his feet. [editline]7th March 2016[/editline] Just tried it with my dagger. All it does is cut off that 'super quick strike' thing it does on a right click in favor of regular attacks.
The combat in early dungeons is all about knowing when to quit. If you're getting swarmed, climb the ladder and continue the next day or go back in from your last reachable floor. Also, always use swords, they're better than all other weapon types.
Yeah since then I've gotten a better sword and understand that the smoky shit means you'll be swarmed by flying enemies. I still think the combat could use a bit more variety but the mines are a whole lot more forgiving now that I have stuff up and running.

But yeah I fucking hated getting swarmed by the flying bugs. Ironically enough, past level 40 it becomes easier. I haven't seen those flying bugs at all anymore, no more larva that spawn them either, just slimes, bats, and my favorite enemy of all time bouncing coal balls that barely do damage, spawn in huge groups, are super easy to kill, and drop coal. Unrelated, do I have to / should I let my chickens out of their coop? Do I need to keep it closed during winter or is having a heater inside it enough? I have a silo already so that should be auto-feeding them right?
I'm past level 85 of the mine, and now I wish there were armors in that game. Holy shit
I'm past level 85 of the mine, and now I wish there were armors in that game. Holy shit
Technically there are? Boots, rings, and hats can all give defense and immunity.
Made it to floor 120 of the mines and is there any method to go below than that? I tried crafting a staircase to use and there is no "suitable location" to place it. Got a skeleton key from the chest on the 120th floor though . v:v:v
I have a silo already so that should be auto-feeding them right?
A silo doesn't auto feed unless you have a tier 3 coop/barn. All the silo does it put a chute inside the coop that you need to manually go to in order to get hay, then put into the feed trough.

The wiki said it would 'auto feed' didn't specify it had to be a higher tier structure. Also, holy fuck, I gave Abigail a chocolate cake for her birthday and it shot me from 7 hearts to 10. is that normal? To get such a huge boost in hearts if you give someone their favorite thing on their birthday?
Just tried it. Left clicking doesn't work. 'C' is what does it.
That's strange. C and left click are the same thing in the controls so it should work. If it doesn't it sounds like a bug that should probably get fixed. Hitting C while using wasd+mouse controls would be rather awkward.

If it was a bug why would it have a separate animation, sound effect, and screen effect?
No pretty sure it's meant to be there. I'm saying the fact it's bound to C and only C is likely a bug since C is supposed to be the same as left clicking.
So I'm in fall year 2 and I'm raking in ridiculous amounts of cash from artisan goods. In one season I went from a level 1 coop to a level 3 coop and level 3 barn. That ancient berry wine is so rediculously good.
So just did the fair. Had 3 artisan goods and 6 gold star items (3 crops, 3 foraged items) Got 84 points Pierre won, then when I talked to him I rubbed it in his face Oh yeah Pierre? That's how you wanna do this? Well I fucked your daughter so there :v:

Her mother still complains about how much time she spends in her room despite the fact she no longer lives there. I'm pretty sure she didn't spend enough time in her room for her mother to somehow miss her being gone for nearly half of fall, all of winter, and a week of spring so far.

Just like Lewis, when you go to sleep, Caroline will sneak onto your farm and peer in your windows to stare at you and your kin. :weeb:
Briefly considered restarting so I could have a farm named Monsanto
I realize that spinklers being so expensive in terms of material requirement is an artificial difficulty curve designed to encourage early game farm tending, rather than exploration, but I feel like they should have included a sort of upgrade mechanic. Because once you get Quality sprinklers, regular ones are basically useless, and ditto for Iridium after Quality. Not sure why the devs didn't include a second recipe for the next tier of spinkler using the previous tier + half the mats of the new tier (i.e. Spinkler + Gold + Refined Quarts = Quality Sprinkler) Also it's like your character has never heard of "pvc pipe" lmao. My garden has a sprinkler set up that cost me maybe $12 to water 6 3'x5' beds. Water inlet has a garden hose adapter so you just screw it on, each downspout has a ball valve to control water levels or turn it off completely, and each downspout has a side rod pipe with micro sprinklers that get the entire raised bed nice and wet. All overhead and out of the way so you don't trip on it or have to duck under it. Plus a 7th down spout with an outlet attachment so I can water hanging/potted plants! You need to treat that wood mate jesus. It hurts my soul to see that wood exposed to the elements like that.
You need to treat that wood mate jesus. It hurts my soul to see that wood exposed to the elements like that.
The wood being used for the boxes is cypress and cedar, it doesn't need treating it's naturally rot and bug resistant. You definitely DON'T want to treat wood that's in direct contact with the soil if they're planter boxes for food you're going to eat, the chemicals will leech out into the plants. Best case scenario it makes the plants sick, worst case it doesn't and it goes into the food you eat. Everything else is #2 pressure treated rated for ground contact. The 4x4 posts around the perimeter are 1.5' in the ground completely encased in concrete. [editline]7th March 2016[/editline] Jesus fucking christ. Spent 133 energy digging rocks in the mine just to uncover the goddamn ladder to the next level. That's 65 rocks.
I didn't mean the boxes, obviously, I meant the frames. If they're pressure treated then that's cool, glad you didn't skimp on good wood like most people would.
I didn't mean the boxes, obviously, I meant the frames. If they're pressure treated then that's cool, glad you didn't skimp on good wood like most people would.
Skimp? Is PT wood MORE expensive in the UK than untreated? Over here PT wood is cheaper than untreated wood. 8' 2x4 PT studs are like $2.80 and the untreated (basic kiln dried) for interior wall use are like $3.50 and the cedar ones were like $8 The 8' 4x4 PT posts are like $8, the untreated Cedar ones were $16 [editline]7th March 2016[/editline] Also unrelated to that discussion but actually related to the game: Can you lose livestock? I can't find two of my chickens but they've had access to food so it's not like they can starve
Is clicking on the logos on the splash screens and on the 2 birds that come up when the title screen is starting to skip it a thing? Because if you click anywhere else, it doesn't skip.

I mean, I guess you're going to trash the old sprinkler anyway, it would make sense to make the player use it. Be sure to backup the original first in case any issues arise. By the way, I wouldn't mind making another tier sprinkler, I'm just wondering what other extra stuff I would have to do to actually make it. Like a description or anything that pops up when you level up to let you know you can craft it. I do know I'd need to make a sprite for it, which wouldn't be too hard and to modify the file that dictates how many tiles it waters.

Also I can't tell but it looks like you just changed the recipe, not added a 2nd. If that's the case then it's actually gonna make them more expensive since I'll have to spend 1 copper in addition to the iron to make a quality one.

I could make second ones, but here's what it looks like. [t]http://i.imgur.com/acvNoQs.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/m54Z4eV.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/lWDBJf3.png[/t] You won't spend extra resources, you're just required to use the old sprinkler. Think of it more like upgrading. I'll test if I can make secondary recipes however. Edit - It is not possible to create alternative crafting recipes so far as I know right now. Adding similar Object definitions to ObjectInformation causes conflicts. I would have to create new items with same sprites that serve the same purpose to create secondary recipes. But your idea has made me want to play around with the crafting system and see if I could change things to make them a little more streamlined in effect. I personally don't agree with using more materials to create different sprinklers. I'm an upgrade-it kinda guy.
