Why is it that exiting the game before it saves when you find out the baby's gender makes the pregnancy never happen at all? The game crashed on me after I got the "Penny gave birth to a baby girl" message, and when I loaded the game again and redid the day, I never got the message again. I tried two more weeks and it never happened, until I got asked if I wanted to make babies message.

The game assumed you didn't want the baby since the application closed after "Penny gave birth to a baby girl" so it had the courtesy of aborting the baby for you.
Seeing as a lot of players had their baby vanish means this is probably a feature, right?

I guess so, if you've a friend to play with you from scratch. Otherwise friend may get bored if they've done it all before.
Then again, you could play SP and then when coop comes out, play it with a friend and have fun building a unique farm that the two of you made?
