Hippiestation could easily just be the norules station
No thanks.
It's weird how silent Goon is when there is only 1 player on. Just the distant sounds of bots opening doors.

I really like the atmosphere in SS13, oddly enough :v:

It's just a shame that its kind of a pain to implement echos properly. /tg/ tried it not too long ago but it was buggy as all hell.
Eh, I doubt much will come of the Goonstation leak, At the very worst more people will use the "secret" chems, most of which were no worse than what you avergae tator on any other codebase could do anyway.
-holy shit im stupid snip-
So about that goon circlejerk..
Baystation has leaked as well.
So, about that circlejerk thing these peeps had going on...
How long before every bay and goon secret is posted on the internet?
What's going on with Space Station 13?
What's going on with Space Station 13?
I may have forgotten or am confused about baystation. Was it closed or open?

Downloaded their codebase yesterday, and it is fully public on their website and wiki. [del]I'd call bullshit on that.[/del] The post looks more like satire to me.
I may have forgotten or am confused about baystation. Was it closed or open?
Bay is fully open-source.
The whole "Baystation is leaked" thing was just a joke.
I'm still wondering what this whole leak thing is about, is it bad or does it not matter at all?
I'm still wondering what this whole leak thing is about, is it bad or does it not matter at all?
It's kinda bad because a lot of secrets like chemistry and stuff is hidden in the code.

Didn't Exadv1 voluntarily give them the code for the game outright?
It's kinda bad because a lot of secrets like chemistry and stuff is hidden in the code.
Finally
I will know how to make vampire serum and grog

All it means is stuff like QGP, Initropidril and other shit that gets you banned if you use it as a non tator is going to be a little more common.
Most of them are not even too terrible, it's mostly just QGP which isn't much worse than a backpack full of Maxcap bombs.
I mean it's not good by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not going to be terrible.

Unless I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure you can't put maxcap bombs in your backpack on Goon.

never understood this "it's closed source so it's automatically a circlejerk" shit
The "secret" recipes of goonchem are not efficient killers in the slightest, they take forever to make. Just messing around with combinations of several easy-to-produce poisons can create a mixture more deadly than anything not public.
Unless I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure you can't put maxcap bombs in your backpack on Goon.
Well Even so, Considering a maxcap bomb removes a large chunk of the station night instantly, whereas QGP gives a very loud Klaxon warning and slowly (relativity speaking) eats tile by tile.
But I doubt much will change and it's not like they can't add new Telesci secrets, after all the Solarium has no "good" ending, the devs just never said yes or no for a while because people were having fun finding out.
just so you know, goonstation wasn't based on stolen code so stop perpetrating that very wrong rumor. The original developer, Exadv1, is a Goonstation coder. Not that either way it makes it right to steal all the developers IP(which the license prevents due to license conflicts with other repos), but the general response from the reddit thread was full of children and it was very painful to read.

Shame, I always did like the romanticism of SS13 only existing because of some chance copy to a USB drive, the fact this game we know and love is only around because someone copied some silly little atmos sim on an obscure engine from a random guys computer and set it free.
I find it pretty funny how both sides are getting way more excited over this than they really should be. It was a (partially functioning) snapshot of Gooncode, that certainly won't fit any updates and innovations Goonstation will have after this. Pretty much the only thing that has been lost was the satisfaction of those low-down plebs having to figure things out on their own, and pretty much the only thing that has been gained was a few codes, a few maps, and maybe some things other coders can reverse-engineer.

definitely sounds more romantic so lets go with that.
On a non-leaks part, I've been working on a goonstation remake before all of this happened.
Here's me after I added caiques:

it'd be particularly disgusting if anyone were to use the maps of all things because of the sheer amount of effort that went into it.

Personally saying, the obscure engine we call Byond is pretty much the reason I hate doing code for SS13. Thus developed a dependency on others' works.

Other than the chat and some of the stuff that actually needs databases, what doesn't work? From what I've played with you could easily play fully featured rounds with what is out there.
Back to a less meta SS13 discussion, can anyone tell me who thoiught it was a good idea to make changeling rounds, a round that already encourages rampant murderboning and recalling of the shuttle ad-infinitum, to make it so that your victims have a HARDER time getting back into the round.
Really, fuck lings, they need a re-design.

Clearly, the husking mechanic is meant to encourage Science to make Borgs and Golems, who are largely immune to dangers from Lings.

This ends up encouraging validhunter borgs and Golem Mobbing which is a whole new kettle of fish.

I always found the ambiance for the void to be oddly relaxing.
No thanks.
Not saying it should, it's fine this way
I just mean that it feels like some people think of it like that, or rather in the way of how hard it is for antags to do anything since everyone already knows everything
